Wasn’t sure if this is correct spot to post this, but here it is. Maryland using new “Red Flag Protective Order” to take this fellow’s guns. Struggle ensued, gun went off, officer shoots the fellow dead. The article didn’t detail exactly why they thought he was a threat, but his own family turned in him, and they also didn’t detail whether or not he had actually been adjudicated by a judge, mentally defective.

According to the niece, the guy was basically outspoken but not violent. Judging solely by the article, it’s hard to say if his Constitutional rights were violated before they killed him, but I thought we need to pay attention to incidents like this.

Found a follow-up article on this. Apparently Maryland has the broadest range of individuals/agencies that  make the request to have someone’s guns removed “temporarily”–and I’m not sure what Maryland’s law says about getting them back. Basically, this looks like “guilty until you can prove you’re innocent”.
