And yeah, that was deliberate–I’m calling this an army instead of a caravan. There tons of video and still images that show a preponderance of military aged men in these groups. Anyway, Nancy Larned’s post showing that idiot Ramos claiming the angelic nature of the marchers while a hooded man walks past flashing gang signs, triggered a memory. Someone gave me a link to a booklet put out by the National Alliance of Gang Investigators Association, found at http://www.nagia.org. They can help you identify gang graffiti, typical clothing worn and the gang signs they flash. Hope you find this helpful.
Gosh James I’m sorry, I didn’t think about being more specific. They have a very extensive website that offers tons but evidently most of it is intended for “members only”, i.e., law enforcement/law enforcement-related fields. I’m a retired school resource officer but haven’t actually joined myself. I have a booklet that I downloaded, in .XPS form: http://www.communitycorrections.org/images/publications/QuickGuidetoGangs.pdf.
Anyway, the main site lists a whole slew of state and regional .orgs, and includes the International Latino Gang Investigators, as well as Inland groups. Another idea you’ve given me is to talk directly to our local PD and sheriff’s department, as we’ve some fairly wicked redneck gangs around here. I hope the booklet helps a little, and I’ll try to remember to come back periodically and update as I learn new things.
