Michael, I’m in Albuquerque. Your suggestion about restricting holders of public office to those born in the state is probably not practical. Members of the military, fire rescue and EMS are migrating all over the United States and its territories heading towards their next assignment or in search of better opportunities. Would you suggest that if they chose to retire in the community where they had their last assignment, that they should not be allowed to run for public office? I understand your frustration, but a better method would be to have the potential candidates of public office have to live in their respective districts for x number of years before being eligible to run for that office.
