Pentagon planning military border mission for the ‘next couple years’

The Defense Department is working on a plan now with the Department of Homeland Security that could keep troops at the U.S.-Mexico border for the “next couple years,” a top Pentagon official told Senate lawmakers Wednesday.

Based on Homeland Security’s ability to manage the increasing number of migrants crossing the southern border, Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the Senate Appropriations Committee’s defense subpanel that the two departments want to create “a comprehensive plan for the next couple years.”

“Although the commitment to the border hasn’t impacted preparedness for other missions at this point, what we want to do is get into a more predictable mode of the requirements the Department of Homeland Security has and do better at integrating across the government,” Dunford said during the Senate hearing.

Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., the committee’s chairman, opened his questioning during the hearing on the Pentagon’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2020 by asking Dunford and acting Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan for an update on border operations and how much support the Defense Department could provide “without negatively affecting” other missions.

Shanahan outlined the two main areas of DoD support at the border: the 4,364 servicemembers – made of active-duty troops and National Guard members – providing support to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the building of a border wall overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers.

  1. You have a twit link, but not a share button. I would have liked to share this among some groups on fascistbook.

  2. Well it’s about time… We spend billions to do this mission for other counties and not our own. This being said, I’ll believe it when I see it. Too many of the political establishment types want open borders for one reason, in my humble opinion; illegal voting and a disdain for the American people, even though they were given this job to represent the American people, by the American people.

The Democrats hate me and the Republicans lie about it (well, the vast majority of Republicans).

  3. Nothing will change until the corrupt politicians and the traitors that hire them for cheap labor, are brought into the spotlight. A good source to be active is https://www.numbersusa.com, clobber these worthless politicians, and the traitors that hire them!
As a side note, we were totally invaded here where I live with illegal aliens. The government would give them food stamps, WIC, and free health care at the emergency room at the hospital, not to mention the Chamber of Commerce that promoted this illegal alien invasion. Of course Law Enforcement looked the other way while this was going on. That was then, this is now. A group of citizens put the pressure on the corrupt politicians and disgusting employers that were enabling this invasion. I am proud to say that our illegal alien invasion is a thing of the past here! 😉

  4. The lefty socialists (aka communists) can’t do anything legitimately, especially win a political election, having invented voter fraud they import millions of “voters,” rig election machines purchased from Nazi sympathizer instrument of evil Soros, and programmed by MicroSoft Paul Allen forced inoculation promoter, pay election officials to pad their candidates, while openly destroying votes for opposition party Republicans. So after that mouth full, hell yes, enforce the border with whatever means deems necessary. An invasion is an invasion, whether it be uniformed or non-uniformed armies, or ants from hell.
