The most recent illegal alien caravan arrived in Piedras Negras, the border town near Eagle Pass, Texas on Monday, February 4th. The International Bridge from Eagle Pass to Piedras Negras was closed down in response to the caravan. Barricades were put up and Border Patrol had riot gear to prevent anyone crossing.
Tuesday in response to the Caravan, Greg Abbott ordered 500 Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers to Eagle Pass. Convoys of as many as 35 DPS vehicles have been seen traveling to Eagle Pass.
Tom Schmerber, Maverick County Sheriff, stated “When I went to Mexico this morning, the mayor of Pedgras Negras, was there and told me around 1800 are in the caravan, and about 80% are from Honduras.”

The Border Patrol is transporting apprehended Mexicans back to Mexico. What is being heard locally is most of the OTMs (Other Than Mexicans) are being processed and released in the United States. Honduras has the highest per capita murder rate in the world. Local residents are concerned about the Hondurans being released.
The Eagle Pass New Leader reports 250 United States Military Troopers have arrived at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio. However spokesperson for LAFB could not confirm the exact number.
Although illegal aliens crossing into the United States during this time have doubled to maybe tripled, most of the Border Patrol and Texas DPS are located at the international bridge in Eagle Pass.
Border Patrol and Texas DPS vehicles are lining up literally on the bank of the Rio Grande River less than 10 yards from each other.
