Democrat Proposes A $200 Million Tax On Montana Gun Owners

On August 29th, 2018, candidate for Congress Kathleen Williams told a Kalispell audience that she wants to levy a $200 million tax on Montana gun owners.

Really! Although that’s not the way she put it. She said that “high capacity magazines” (over 10 rounds of ammunition) need to be treated legally the same as “sawed off shotguns” and “machine guns.”

These items, you may know, require an application to the BATFE, a nine-month wait, and a $200 tax for each item registered, in order to legally possess them.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation estimates that there are 132 million high capacity magazines in private ownership in the US. Given the high density of firearms in Montana, there must be at least one million of the magazines Williams would target in Montana, probably many more.
One million magazines in Montana and a $200 tax for each one by Williams is where Williams’ $200 million tax on Montana gun owners comes from.

Wait, you say. Williams is so ignorant about gun laws that she didn’t know that her proposal to legally reclassify hi-cap magazines as NFA items would levy $200 million in taxes on Montana gun owners.

Well, if she gets her way and you don’t pay the tax on your magazines, some judge will inform you that ignorance of the law is no excuse. Not for you and me, and not for Williams.

  1. Damn, you mean crap like this is going on in Montana also?…. The left won’t stop…..
maybe a republican politician in Montana should write up a bill that states, if you’re against law-abiding citizens owning firearms, then you must pay a $200 tax a year toward being a communist against our Bill of Rights… Wonder how that one would fly?

    1. That’s exactly what I said when I first saw this. Should we also levy a tax on our freedom of speech, or our right to a fair and speedy trial? What exactly is there to stop a politician from taxing any of our rights if this is allowed to go forward?

    2. This oath-breaking fascist traitor proposes this while surrounded by an entourage of heavily armed bodyguards. Filthy hypocrite!

  2. There has never been a government that banned it’s own ARMED FORCES from “Keeping and Bearing” ARMS.
Find one government in the history of humanity that felt a need to document a “RIGHT” for it’s ARMED FORCES to possess ARMS.
Oppressive Governments are ALWAYS banning the People’S RIGHTS to arms.
The claim that the Founding Fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment to give Our ARMED FORCES a “right” to keep and carry ARMS is S-T-U-P-I-D.
The only reason for the Second Amendment is to clearly spell-out the GOD GIVEN RIGHT of INDIVIDUALS to keep & bear ARMS.
The only reason for the BILL(list) of RIGHTS was to codify INDIVIDUALS’ GOD GIVEN RIGHTS.
Has there ever been a government that was not chock full of it’s “rights” up to and including declaring itself to be the Lord God Almighty?! (Rome, Egypt, Israel, etc)
Does the 1st Amendment mean the GOVERNMENT is allowed to give speeches? Try shutting up any Politician. But THEY would LOVE to shut YOU up, hence the FIRST Amendment.
Anyone who tells you the 2nd Amendment applies to the Army or State Militia, is telling you they think you are STUPID.
There has NEVER been a government that felt it had to codify it’s army’s/soldier’s “RIGHT” to “Keep and BEAR ARMS” because there has NEVER been a government that refused to allow It’s own soldiers to KEEP and BEAR ARMS!
The Second Amendment was written for the People, like the other 9 Amendments in the Bill of Rights. This was confirmed by the SCOTUS in the DC vs Heller decision, where they stated that the “People” in the Second Amendment were the same “People” that are mentioned in the First and Fourth Amendment.
The 2nd Amendment clearly codifies the “right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms”, and certainly not “the Militia”.
Why would “the Militia”, a type of army manned by citizen-soldiers as opposed to full-time “regulars”, need a constitutional amendment to guarantee they have the right “to keep and bear arms”?
Is there any specific statement anywhere in the Constitution that the army Congress is empowered to raise has the “right to keep and bear arms”? Of course not. …………. That is assumed.

  3. This concerned candidate for office serves a very valuable purpose. She makes it vividly clear what will happen to America if similarly minded people ascend to power: The swamp will win, take you money, and take your freedoms.

  4. This is so preposterous as to be a joke, no? Therefore, our response should be to laff it off and ignore it. Even if it becomes lawless. Which it is. You have no obligation to obey lawlessness, unless it becomes law. Huh?

Yes, that’s how they get you.

  5. “… candidate for Congress Kathleen Williams… ”

Keyword here is “candidate”. Why? Because when one serves within our governments – state or federal, they take an Oath to SUPPORT AND DEFEND the US Constitution. When their actions do NOT keep the Oath to do so, and hers do not, that is a CRIME, at least one felony and Perjury. But those actions go much further then that when they BREAK THE SUPREME CONTRACT that they serve under and are Oathbound to support and defend. They no longer meet the conditions of the position they occupy. As when any job contract that is broken, she can be removed and charged with the crimes she commits.

Dr. Vieira puts it this way: “This has nothing to do with personalities or subjective ideas. It’s a matter of what the Constitution provides… The government of the United States has never violated anyone’s constitutional rights… The government of the United States will never violate anyone constitutional rights, because it cannot violate anyone’s constitutional rights. The reason for that is: The government of the United States is that set of actions by public officials that are consistent with the Constitution. Outside of its constitutional powers, the government of the United States has no legitimacy. It has no authority; and, it really even has no existence. It is what lawyers call a legal fiction.

Holding them accountable is OUR duty, but we have even ignored (quite possibly) treasonous actions on the part of those who serve already within our government. We have what we deserve, and those of us who speak out and try to get those political inclined criminals charged, arrested, prosecuted instead get our own doors kicked in. Any wonder what a mess our country is in when Oath TAKERS break their Oath pretty much all the time. What happened to those who are supposed to enforce the “Law” when they ignore the supreme Law of our nation and the highest Law of their own state?

They need to be fired and no longer on the public funding, but instead use that money to train and pay the Militia, because as our framers/founders said, the ONLY ONES who will actually enforce the Law (instead of color of law) is the people themselves as the Militia.
