Uncontrollable Chicago Violence Demonstrates Fraud of Gun-Grabber ‘Solutions’
“Police in the nation’s third-largest city said 36 people were shot —including seven fatally — over the Memorial Day weekend, slightly less gunfire than the city has seen over the holiday weekend in the previous two years,” USA Today “reports,” searching desperately for a silver lining.
Left unacknowledged is headline from a couple weeks ago, when Newsweek told its readers “74 people shot in past week as temperatures warm,” presented in tandem with a video clip of South African comedian Trevor Noah. He was making fun of Donald Trump to the hoots, hisses and cheers of a “progressive” Comedy Central audience for comparing Chicago violence to what is being experienced in Afghanistan.
If I may:
It’s warm where I am, too – not that my neighbors and I have been tempted to trade shots. The Afghanistan comparison is not without basis, and you’ll note “progressives” aren’t shy about crying “weapons of war” when they want to ban our guns. And as long as governments are fair game for criticism and condemnation, the foreigner who would impose his brand of rule on the country he chose to enjoy benefits in sure is quiet about the very real dangers from his own.
“This isn’t the weekend for nonsense,” Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said as his department “flooded the streets with hundreds of additional officers in hopes of stemming the violence.”
You can’t prove it from the “solutions” being offered by the two major Windy City newspapers.
“School boycotts? Yes, parents must pressure Congress to pass smart gun laws,” the Chicago Tribune moronically offers.
Yeah, that’ll “stop the violence” from the types of Chicagoans perpetrating it. And it presupposes:
- Gun owners will accept mandates to make their firearms more prone to failure;
- We’ll turn in the existing stock of over 300M guns in circulation;
- Gangbangers will fall in line to obey the new restrictions; and
- We give a damn if “progressive” kids go to Chicago schools or not.
Not to be outdone when it comes to stupid ideas, the Chicago Sun-Times Editorial Board asserts “Putting squeeze on gun-makers could help curb Chicago’s gun violence.”
Adding to their “31 Bullets” campaign of prior restraints and denials of due process, they want police enforcing the infringements to boycott gunmakers and distributors that don’t kowtow to their demands.
Still, when it comes to useless ideas, the newspapers would be hard-pressed to beat the City of Chicago itself that, via its 2017 Gun Trace Report, calls for a host of state and federal infringements to put the blame and impose on everyone but the ones shooting up Chicago streets.
Forget it Jake, it’s Chi-Town.
