Rolling Thunder, Inc. 31st "Ride For Freedom" Demonstration, Sunday, 27 May 2018

On Sunday, the annual Rolling Thunder “Rode For Freedom” took place, as it always does on the Memorial Day weekend, to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so that Americans can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Bikers from across the nation, many of whom are veterans, rode from the Pentagon to downtown Washington, DC, to pay their respects to those who paid the ultimate price while defending their country. Our fallen warriors stood for the freedoms we enjoy, that are enshrined in our Constitution.

On this day, we pause to remember our fallen warriors. They answered the call, It was not the current government they stood for, but for the ideal of freedom, of the hope that is America. Freedom, the American Way, is not a political party, but a culture and a belief that “We the People” have Rights, and can govern ourselves.

Our great Republic was formed by rebellion against tyranny. Brave men and women stood against the greatest power on earth to proclaim they would not submit to tyranny. Throughout our history, brave men and women have answered the call when tyranny rose its ugly head, not just to insure our freedoms, but to help others fight tyranny.

On this day, we may take a moment to pause, to pray, and to thank those who gave their all, and for those who slogged through the mud and rain, felt the bitter cold and sweltering heat, who endured the hardships and terror of war, and lost buddies. They did so for those back home; for their families and communities. They are all heroes.
