Chief Flynn Excuses Failure of Law to Hold Criminals Accountable by Lowering Bar for Citizen Disarmament

Chief Flynn Excuses Failure of Law to Hold Criminals Accountable by Lowering Bar for Citizen Disarmament

“Wisconsin Police Chief dismantles gun lobby-backed law that lets criminals carry concealed guns,” #ResistTheGunLobby claims. “In a new video, Now This highlights Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn’s struggle to protect his community as a result of a gun lobby-backed law that lets criminals with multiple misdemeanors carry loaded, concealed guns in public.”

Before we get into this further, let’s look at how twisted up these people get everything just as a matter of course. Corroborating the truism that for “progressives,” every day is Opposite Day, it should come as no surprise that the #Resist hashtag is invariably used by those advocating for a state monopoly of violence. What they’re resisting is the true egalitarian power sharing that can only be achieved through an armed citizenry.  You know, freedom.

And that’s not surprising, because #ResistTheGunLobby is a subsidiary effort of Mark Kelly’s and Gabby Giffords’ Opposite Day-named Americans for Responsible Solutions. Seeing that citizen disarmament is neither American nor responsible, it figures an Astroturf operation would disparage populist efforts by citizens banding together to petition for redress of grievances.  As Jeff Knox of The Firearms Coalition reminds the elitist press:

“Let me make something perfectly clear: The NRA is not the Gun Lobby. Neither is the NSSF, nor the GOA, nor even The Firearms Coalition, nor the hundreds of grassroots and activist organizations or the thousands of local gun clubs. I am the Gun Lobby. Whenever you talk about the Gun Lobby, you are talking about me.”

That’s who Mark and Gun-Grabby Gabby are really resisting. So it’s no surprise they would pick an oath-breaking political appointee as their voice of experience. Economist and author Thomas Sowell wrote a perceptive comparison between Chief Flynn and Milwaukee Country Sheriff David Clarke, noting:

“Chief Flynn puts less emphasis on aggressive police action and more on community outreach and gun control. Sheriff David Clarke represents an opposite tradition, in which the job of the police is to enforce the law, as forcefully as necessary, not to make excuses for law-breaking or to ease up on enforcing the law, in hopes that this will mollify rioters. Sheriff Clarke would also like to see law-abiding blacks be armed.”

Flynn’s emphasis is evident in the video ARS features, in which he almost sounds like he knows what he‘s talking about to those who don’t know how to read between the lines. He starts out by talking about rights for “the law-abiding.” That’s meant to sound “reasonable” and “common sense,” and make a mainstream audience receptive to what he says next, which is anything but:

“Now in Milwaukee, the overwhelming majority of our arrested felons plead guilty to misdemeanors – they get a plea bargain,” Flynn admits. “And I get it, the system’s overwhelmed with arrests. But the problem is, when they passed the law in Wisconsin, they only said convicted felons can’t qualify for a gun permit, so I’ve got armed career criminals with concealed permits guarding drug dealers – we call them ‘human holsters.’ They’re sitting in their car with three felons and they’re carrying three guns. Okay? That’s a crazy law … It’s an irresponsible law passed by irresponsible legislatures who are more interested in ideological points and I’d sure as hell like some more community outrage about that because that’s what’s driving the violence in this city and too many public officials are silent on it.”

In other words, because Milwaukee won’t hold criminals accountable for their actions, the solution is to lower the bar for what it takes to disarm citizens. And attack those who disagree as crazy and irresponsible. Standard gun-grabber M.O…

“Flynn’s reply was completely inaccurate — and, by all accounts, borderline insane,” United States Concealed Carry Association Founder Tim Schmidt observed (as documented on  “As it turns out, I’m not the only one who found Chief Flynn’s statement so far off base as to be almost unbelievable. Mike Crivello, president of the Milwaukee Police Association, retorted:

‘I have never had a conversation with you, Chief, relative to you displaying that we are arresting an overwhelming amount of people, or even one person, who’s committed a crime while carrying a CCW (permit).’”

Leave it to people whose whole existence depends on disinformation and distortion to brag that such a delusional fabrication “dismantles” the “gun lobby.” Or to have as their great example of “resistance” and virtue a uniformed enforcer and a man who wouldn’t keep his vows. It’s small wonder his oath is treated with similar “fidelity.”

  1. Chief Flynn, how in the world does allowing citizens (convicted of misdemeanors) the ability to get a weapons permit cause more crime? You haven’t connected the dots, sir. How does adults having a weapons license put more guns in the hands of juveniles to commit crime? Where is your evidence?

Criminals by nature commit crime, and will do so even without having a carry license. And the very few who do have a carry license and commit crime certainly are still subject to prosecution for violating the law, are they not?

Your hatred for the sacred right of human beings to defend their lives comes through loud and clear. If it were up to you, only the few you select would be able to get a license to carry. You know good and well there are hundreds of non-violent misdemeanors on the books, yet you made no distinction at all. Apparently, you want to use the law to disarm any citizen with even minor infractions of the law.

    You disgust me.

    1. Flynn and the other “Three Stooges” – Mayor Barrett, DA Chisholm , and County Exec Abele are the BIGGEST reasons why my wife and I left the lawless city of what I call “Milwau-dishu.” There are virtually little to no police patrols on the relatively lawful south-side of the city. All of the squads are either responding in the inner-city, the north-side, or the west-side where most, if not all, of the criminal activity is taking place. I really think Flynn has gotten reacquainted with his former best friend Jack Daniels to make the kind of utterly medacious statement that he made about CCW holders. Just check out his bulbous red nose sometime.

  2. I don’t believe for a minute “progressives” are the ones wanting a gun free America, now a bunch of brainwashed liberals, and all “establishmment” cowards I believe. Maybe I’m not in understanding of the definition of a “progressive”.

    1. Someone who wants to break the Constitution down and make the Government all powerful.

  3. Colin Greenwood, in the study “Firearms Control”, 1972: “No matter how one approaches the figures, one is forced to the rather startling conclusion that the use of firearms in crime was very much less when there were no controls of any sort and when anyone, convicted criminal or lunatic, could buy any type of firearm without restriction. Half a century of strict controls on pistols has ended, perversely, with a far greater use of this weapon in crime than ever before.”

    1. I’ve yet to see an instance or program instituted by government that does not have a “perverse[]” goal.
We understood, back in the 60’s, that the outcome of the civil rights act would destroy the family unit, and by doing so, community.
Look at the NY Sullivan Act. It was passed to protect criminals who were getting their due from those who decided to arm and protect themselves.

      1. The Gun Control Act of 1968 only exists because of the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Johnson just hated the recipients of the newly passed ‘Social Justice’ and had to MITIGATE that siht a.s.a.p. before the “uppity” class let it go to their heads and think they were actually equal.

        That’s the Leftist Way.

  4. I’m pretty sure this costumed clown is NOT an asset to his agency and will probably, sooner or later, become an expensive liability when he does the Real Stupid Thing.

  5. “I am the gun lobby”, really chief flynn? You are special only in you own mind. You obviously are anti-American as you are saying you are more smarter than the Founding Fathers and the Constitution. Maybe you need to take some time and seek medical care and mental health services. Might have brain tumor. Take a rest, maybe retire, go fishing, travel…

  6. Here’s the problem which factors in to Flynn’s words, but he doesn’t say it- the Milwaukee County Liberal judges who let those with gun charges walk instead of getting tough on them. Why? They claim it’s poor, innocent, one-timer juveniles. Well, one case the guy walked. Walked out and murdered someone in a time frame that he should have been in jail during. Thanks Judge. And thanks Flynn for being a Joseph Geobels of your time.

  7. Any Attempt to DisArm our Citizens, Law Abiding onesWould be Against The Constitutional Laws, I Took the Oath to Protect the Constitution, Our Country, by Anyone From any Foreign or Local People against My GOD, COUNTRY, CONSTITUTION, AND My FAMILY! I am An Oath Keeper also.

  8. Chief Flynn, It’s yours and the DA’s failure that these “felons” are allowed to plea bargain out of felony arrests. If you could convict them of felonies, you wouldn’t have to take this rediculous position.

  9. Just based on the two photos accompanying the story, I wouldn’t trust Chief Flynn’s opinion on anything. First photo – his eyes are closed. It’s almost like he’s lying and hoping to not be caught. Second photo – he looks like a totally clueless doofus. I wouldn’t trust this guy as far as I could throw Hillary with one pinky finger up her backside. He appears to be entirely spaced out about whatever he’s discussing.

  10. Good story….thx!!!!!
By hook or by crook, the left is relentless in coming after 2A!
I’d also like to comment on the state of our System of Justice…..
It is so corrupt as to recognize that mistakes in trials are made to the extent that there exists a means by which to reduce time served & allow reentry into society via probation! If the outcome of courts are so ‘off’ there needs to be another multi billion dollar bureaucracy, then fix the fekken court system…..not further burden taxpayers!!!!
A socialist was appointed Dean of Harvard Law School around 1900. Christopher Columbus Langdall began the practice of ‘case law’ vs constitutional law….this egregious practice relies on courts making decisions on law, not following the US & State Constitutions! As if courts ere not in error!
SCOTUS was packed w/morons by FDR, some of which never even practiced law! Is it any wonder it comes up w/the asinine verdicts it reaches?
Sandra Day O’Connor went by foreign law in her day: Ginsburg Kagan & Sotomayer now do so regularly.
Check out the following for a very good, but by no means exhaustive, look into SCOTUS since 1900: The Naked Communist; None Dare Call it Conspiracy (25 years later), Nine Men Against America & Betrayed by the Bench. It’s enough to make one vomit…..particularly the sheer # of communists this congress of kangaroos have let off the hook, despite overwhelming findings against them. Does 90% pro communist decisions sound about right to you?

  11. LEOs like this guy are the reason ‘Rule of Law’ is becoming such a joke in America, and why even decent [and courageous] folk are going to start seeing THEM as the enemy rather than a community of exalted heroes. You can’t BREAK the Laws that govern YOU while ENFORCING the tyrannical Codes that oppress US. Not if you want to be respected.

It seems like a suicidal plan to me. Maybe the Oath Keepers in his ranks [if they exist] should pillory this jerk on the town square and show their fellow citizens that tyranny is on the wane, because JUSTICE is being served against the protected criminal class who enjoy a “safe-space” above the “law” they get paid to enforce.
