President Trump dismisses FBI Director Comey

May 9 at 5:46 PM

FBI Director James B. Comey has been dismissed by the president, according to White House spokesman Sean Spicer.“The president has accepted the recommendation of the Attorney General and the deputy Attorney General regarding the dismissal of the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Spicer told reporters in the briefing room, according to a pool report.

Earlier in the day, the FBI notified Congress that Comey misstated key findings involving the Hillary Clinton email investigation during testimony last week, saying that only a “small number’’ of emails had been forwarded to disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner, not the “hundreds and thousands’’ he’d claimed in his testimony.

The letter was sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, more than a week after Comey testified for hours in defense of his handling of the Clinton probe.

“This letter is intended to supplement that testimony to ensure that the committee has the full context of what was reviewed and found on the laptop,’’ wrote FBI Assistant Director Gregory A. Brower.

In defending the probe at last week’s hearing, Comey offered seemingly new details to underscore the seriousness of the situation FBI agents faced last fall when they discovered thousands of Clinton aide Huma Abedin’s emails on the computer of her husband, Anthony Weiner.

“Somehow, her emails were being forwarded to Anthony Weiner, including classified information,” Comey said, adding later, “His then-spouse Huma Abedin appears to have had a regular practice of forwarding emails to him for him I think to print out for her so she could then deliver them to the secretary of state.”

Neither of those statements is accurate, said people close to the investigation.

  1. Should have happened on January 21st. The guy is a blooming disgrace to a quality law enforcement agency. Now lets hope the get a decent “Acting” until a new Director can be found.

    1. I don’t know how CNN will spin it, but ABC News is saying Trump fired Comey to avoid an investigation into the Russian connection. ABC further suggested that a special prosecutor needs to be appointed to investigate Trump/Russia.

  2. I am so happy that President Trump finally had his Deputy AG confirmed. President Trump finally had an opening to get rid of Comey and he took it!!! There is no way President Trump could have fired Comey on day one. Trump Campaign vs Russia at that time did not have Clapper, Yates, Adam Schiff, Feinstein, and many others stating “no evidence of collusion”.

Deputy AG reviewed the Hitlery server info decided Comey was bad and wrote a report. Remember AG Sessions had not been confirmed and even if he had been confirmed AG Sessions recused himself from Russia. So still President Trump could not go after Comey.

And I love the way Comey found out. Far away from his desk so information could be collected.

Major kudos to POTUS Team on no leaks!!

  3. Looks like a diversionary tactic to me. Make an obvious motion with the Left hand so that nobody notices what’s going on with the Right hand.
There are numerous things going on that they don’t want you to pay attention to, so there will be a big deal made of this unimportant detail in the lamestream media.
Could be lots of things; the no fly zones in syria that the US is excluded from, the rare earth minerals underneath North Korea, Labor Secretary Acosta and the Lolita Express, the Turks vs. the Kurds, etc. Like I said, there are a lot of things we are NOT supposed to pay attention to.
This is standard tactics for a government gone wrong. We should be used to it by now, but sadly it seems to keep working for them, so they keep using it.
