The Russians Did It – Or How to Change The Narrative

The Russians Did It - Or How to Change The Narrative

by Shorty Dawkins

The “Russian Hacking the Election” false narrative is a classic example of how to change the narrative in order to steer attention away from one narrative, (in this case the Podesta emails leaked by Wikileaks) by creating a new narrative as a means of distracting attention from the first narrative. How to do it? By focusing all the attention on the “supposed source” of the leak, and preparing a story about the malicious attempts by “the Russians” to subvert our elections.

No one is denying the emails are authentic. No, the big “lie” is surrounding the “source” of the leaks. The FBI and DHS released a joint report, claiming the source of the leak was the Russians, who then gave it to Wikileaks, though Julian Assange claims the source was NOT the Russians. The report gave zero evidence, and was comprised of a series of speculations. It carried the following disclaimer at the beginning of the report:

This report is provided “as is” for informational purposes only. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) does not provide any warranties of any kind regarding any information contained within. DHS does not endorse any commercial product or service referenced in this advisory or otherwise.
So, the FBI and DHS provide a report with zero evidence, that is all a matter of speculation, claiming it was “the Russians” who did hacking and gave the information to Wikileaks in order to subvert our elections. It is interesting to note that after Julian Assange denied he received the information from the Russians, the story was changed to say the Russians gave it to a third party who then gave it to Wikileaks.
It seems obvious that the powers that be are desperate to divert attention from the contents of the emails, and to do so by demonizing Russia as attempting to subvert our elections. It is common a practice in the use of propaganda, to attempt to focus attention on an “outside enemy” as the source of the problem in order to take attention away from real issue.
The Democrats are all lining up behind the “Russia did it” narrative, of course, as the contents of the emails are a great embarrassment to them and they need to divert attention from them. The Neo-Con Republicans, like Sen. John McCain and Sen. Lyndsay Graham are promoting it as a means of increasing tensions with the Russians. Those two war-mongering Neo-Cons, who fully back the neo-fascist regime in the Ukraine, and have supported terrorist elements in the Syrian conflict, would be happy to go to war with Russia.
Sen. Graham said this on NBC’s  “Meet The Press“, as reported by
“And here’s what I’m going to do with Senator McCain, we will introduce sanctions that are bipartisan that go beyond the sanctions today against Russia that will hit them in the financial sector and the energy sector where they’re the weakest. And we’re going to give President Trump an opportunity to make Russia pay a price for interfering in our elections so it will deter others in the future. I hope you will take advantage of it.”
Here we have two US Senators, wanting to impose severe sanctions on Russia, using the “False Narrative” of “Russian Hacking”. Then again, Graham and McCain are two war-mongering Neo-Cons, so it should be expected they would use any excuse to push for war.

  1. i find it interesting that releasing emails, which are not waved away as lies and false emails, and are actualyl factual emails, is viewed as interference in our election…

even if russia did do it, they released THE TRUTH, and i ask, in what way does providing truth interfere in an election? it is an informed populace they fear and are going to great lengths to prevent.

  2. December 12, 2016 Georgia Official Says Homeland Security Tried To Hack Their State’s Voter Database

While most of the country frets over Russia’s role in the 2016 election, the state of Georgia has come forward saying that they’ve traced an IP from a hack of their voter database right back to the offices of the Department of Homeland Security. Apparently we need to focus on protecting our vote from our own government. The Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

  3. January 08, 2017 The Russians Did Not “Hack” the US Election – a Few Facts from a Former CIA Spy

I am deeply offended by the lies being told by the US Government – and more specifically, by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with the explicit approval of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and the President – with respect to the Russians “hacking” the US election.
