Get a grip, students. You are not children. It is time to face reality. – Shorty Dawkins, Editor

Brit Hume would probably file this under the Campus Craziness segment of the FOX News show he hosted through the election, but we can also file it in our own Higher Education category. This email blast comes from the Office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. This is not a joke:

Subject: Post Election Support

Dear Students,

We at the Multicultural Affairs Office hope this email reaches you and you are doing ok. We know many of you stayed up waiting to hear of the election results. These are unprecedented times. The nation as well as our community is reacting in many different ways. We are reaching out to each of you because we know that this was an intense election and we are already hearing a number of reactions, feelings and emotions. This is a critical time to make sure that you, your friends, classmates, neighbors are doing ok and seeking the appropriate support especially if they need a place to process or work through what they’re feeling.

You may hear or notice reactions both immediate and in the coming weeks, some anticipated and many that may be difficult to articulate or be shared. While it may take some time to fully take in all the recent events, please also know that the OMA office is here for you. Our UMass Lowell community is here for you. Do not hesitate at all to come in or ask for support.

Today there is a Post-election self-care session from 12-4pm in Moloney. The event will include cookies, mandalas, stress reduction techniques and mindfulness activities. Counseling and Health Services will also be available. We have sent out messages through our Social Media sites as well as encouraging students to drop in all week. Above all, take good care and know that there is strength in our community that you can lean on.

Kind regards,
Office of Multicultural Affairs Staff

  1. Higher education ain’t what it used to be. I was reading the Declaration of Independence and the signers today. From Mass. John and Sam Adams,Elbridge Gerry,,Robert Paine and JOHN HANCOCK. If they could I wonder what they would be thinking of this? What a waste of time that was? I don,t know, but if I were them I don’t think I would be going to my safe space for a double, mango mocha.

  2. I hope that the country understands now, that this is the fruit we get when EVERYONE gets a trophy and parents DO NOT instill AMERICAN VALUES in their kids. Absolutely pathetic!

  3. A similar touchy/feely letter, complete with the promise of cookies after the “event” was offered to the men who hit the beach at Normandy….OOPS; my bad, it was the promise of K rations and the boot of a sergeant kicking your butt to “keep marching”..Toe-to-toe these kids couldn’t go up against a Smurf..Yes, they are pathetic

  4. We reside in Western Washington State, Puget Sound. We are surrounded by left leaning liberals, that present themselves in all shapes and sizes, color and gender. My son, being an independent is a Senior in College ( and wide awake) and has been telling us for the past 3.5 years about the Communist/Marxist agenda being forced upon the student body. Yes, forced upon. What a flipping mess. “Academia has been Captured Within” by social justice warriors. My answer to this is simple: I thank God that I am a 4th generation U.S. Military Veteran ( Coast Guard) and that I have raised my children with sound minds and effective critical thinking skills. My late Father (Marine) had raised my brothers ( Navy and Air Force) and I, with a solid understanding of Honor, Respect, Bravery and Resolve. We were taught to stand tall and hold firm. When we served, we were issued pocket Bibles. The result: No whimpy girly boys in our family. oh how times have changed. It is now time to get back to the original foundation of our forefathers and take out the trash. . These “Radicalized Social Justice Warriors” are now masquerading around as students, and with the help of George Soros, they will soon become infantile adults! They have become “the people our parents warned us about”

  5. gee wiz….I went to school and Was held back in third grade. Went to high school til 11th grade and got my GED. These products of so called “higher education” look down their noses at folks like me as if they are some how so much better. Thanks anyway but I will take what I have over being a brain dead, kicking screaming spoiled brat any day of the week.
these little bastards are the future of America….? They think Trump is bad..? I hope I do not live to see this country when these useless scumbags are running things.

  6. Indeed. An example as to, why education should never be a Government entitlement program funded by Taxpayers.

  7. Wow, see they’re upset beceause the days of lawless ignorance on the part of our high offices, we will now return to law and order. I feel for all my Brothers and Sisters faced with these challenges and restricted. No More!!!

  8. What in the world is more treasonous than stealing the minds of our children??? As Putin recently said, “A society that won’t defend its own children has no future.” WHY DO WE PERMIT THIS?????
