Gen. Petraeus Joins Fellow Oath Breakers to Push for Civilian Gun Owner Control

It’s a big club and you ain’t in it. And that club doesn’t want you armed. (Photos: The White House)

Retired general and former CIA director David Petraeus has joined with retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal and other veterans to form “The Veterans Coalition for Common Sense,” The Guardian reports.  The group is part of retired Captain Mark Kelly’s and Gabby Gifford’s “Americans for Responsible Solutions.

“This is a group of leaders who support the second amendment and who believe in the rights of responsible people, law-abiding people, to own guns,” ARS media flack Mark Prentice claims.

That’s as ridiculous as the name of both groups.  Common sense does not involve citizen disarmament. Responsible solutions do not disarm the victim pool. And support for the Second Amendment does not advocate for infringements.

“War is peace, freedom is slavery [and] ignorance is strength,” Orwell wrote. With “progressives,” every day is Opposite Day.

“As service members, each of us swore an oath to protect our Constitution and the homeland,” Kelly proclaimed, adding to the irony and the lie.  “Gabby and I are grateful to all of these incredible veterans and leaders who are using their voice to call for commonsense change that makes our communities safer.”

See, if you’re an Oath Keeper, making your oath to the Constitution paramount, you’re a hater and extremist, if you listen to the likes of the Southern Poverty Law Center. But if you’re actually betraying your oath while saying that you’re upholding it, and undermining freedom by empowering more government usurpation, the establishment hails you as a “patriot.”

Just not the kind of “patriot” who would oppose “homegrown tyranny” (and let’s start using that term).  Yep, Orwell.

Petraeus, once more earning the “Betrayus” pejorative, is nothing if not a creature of the establishment.  You don’t get included at the Bilderberg meeting unless the masters have big plans for you. And again in true Opposite Day fashion, as his own scandal demonstrated, we’re dealing with an intelligence chief who wouldn’t control his intelligence and a control freak who won’t control himself. So naturally, “Republican” and veteran Mark Kirk, every bit the gun-grabber as the most rabid Democrat, thinks Petraeus is qualified to be president.

The Gungrabby Gabby Group posted a list of all the military luminaries who are lending their names to the effort. By doing so, they’re disregarding the paramount importance of civilian control of the military, and presuming to overturn the Founders’ judgment about what was and is “necessary to the security of a free State.”

Sadly, outrageously, really, they join a long list of oath breakers who place personal ambition and connections, and misguided or subversive politics, over the clear proscription in the Constitution they freely pledged to support — that “the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Not too long ago, Oath Keepers posted a piece about a gun owner control-endorsing retired Marine sergeant. We’ve seen the same call from a Navy veteran, and a decorated Marine officer who saw service in WWII and in Korea. And we’ve seen a Lieutenant Colonel repeat the lie that the militia is the National Guard and call for out-and-out gun grabs.

Not to diminish their service, but it’s not out of line to remind ourselves that at one time, one of America’s greatest military heroes, who proved his battlefield courage on several occasions, was a twice-wounded former patriot by the name of Benedict Arnold. And right now, with our right to keep and bear arms under a sustained attack resembling a blood-driven feeding frenzy, it’s no time for those who freely swore the oath to be leading the charge to undermine it.

UPDATE: M. Thomas Davis, a retired Army officer who commanded an artillery unit during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm says “Strict military gun control should be our model.”

David Codrea blogs at The War on Guns: Notes from the Resistance (, and is a field editor/columnist for GUNS Magazine. Named “Journalist of the Year” in 2011 by the Second Amendment Foundation for his groundbreaking work on the “Fast and Furious” ATF “gunwalking” scandal, he is a frequent event speaker and guest on national radio and television programs.

  1. Exactly whose side is David Petraeus on? Here’s a story about his current employer.

“KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) has been trying for the past seven years to enter private equity markets in Muslim-majority countries, especially in Dubai (part of the United Arab Emirates) and Saudi Arabia. During those same years, the governments of Dubai and Saudi Arabia hardened their laws against criticism of Islam at home, and increased their lobbying spending to shut down criticism of Islamic doctrine abroad.”

  2. “Each year, approximately 6,000 of our fellow veterans take their own life, and two-thirds of those veterans who choose to end their life do so with a gun. We know that this gun violence crisis has many causes, and therefore, that there is no single solution. But I’m joining this effort because I know that we can do better,” said Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, United States Marine Corps (Ret)

Maybe people like Cheney and his likes should take an honest look in the mirror for the reason our comrades are taking their own life.

    1. Amen!
Iirc, the last time this nation declared war was for WWII. Every “war” we’ve been in since WWII has been un-Constitutional, since Congress has not bothered to declare war. Our soldiers from Korea and Viet Nam now are faced with the question of what in Hell’s name were we fighting for? I would submit that this, and this alone, is at the center of the high suicide rate among Veterans. Again this quote from now-deceased but formerly Poet Laureate of Vietnam Veterans of America, Steve Mason:

“Old soldiers with bad gums find out too late whom they really served.”

Are our wars now merely the actions of a military police state dedicated to keeping the corporate trade lanes open around the world? Can any country we’ve invaded since WWII possibly have been any kind of threat to America? Think on such things please. Our Veterans do.

General Cheney is a disgrace to the U.S. Marine Corps.

Salute! And Semper Fi! to all Marines out there who agree with what I just said.

      1. Along with the PTSD, depression, bi-polar disorder,manic/depression, etc. that a bad cause war or civil stress, joblessness etc. may generate, remember the mostly hidden fact that a great numer of the shooters in the US have been treated with phycotropic drugs. There are many who believe the warning labels say it all–may cause violent tendencies—may produce suicidal ideation, and so on.

Not only is Petraeus unworthy of respect, political officers of any breed are as well. And as M.Thomas Davis claimed that Maj. Nidal Hasan “slipped through,” as though it were an oversight puts Davis in the class of useful idiots for world govenment. Nidal Hasan was in plain view by commanding officers and at review sessions long before the shooting at Ft. Hood. No warnings were issued and no watch placed upon the Maj. He didn’t slip through; the gate was left wide open. By Davis carrying “their” water (the elites), he loses all authority to address citizens who still want to live and prosper in our free and independent States,

      2. “Are our wars now merely the actions of a military police state dedicated to keeping the corporate trade lanes open around the world? Can any country we’ve invaded since WWII possibly have been any kind of threat to America? Think on such things please. Our Veterans do.”

Excellent questions. The ongoing unholy alliance between big business and big government is, I believe, the greatest threat to the liberties of the common folks of the USA.

“The ongoing unholy alliance between big business and big government is, I believe, the greatest threat to the liberties of the common folks of the USA.”

And I concur. What is also interesting is that certain hidden forces orchestrate, coordinate, and choreograph the activities, postures, policies, direction, and purpose of that “unholy alliance”.
A false image of reality has been inserted, implanted into the public consciousness of the national psyche via governmental proclamation, the mainstream media, and the entertainment arm of Wall Street and Silicon Valley. It is all wrapped in television programming and professional sports, addictive behavior habits brought on by stress and uncertainty, and a CIA-controlled international drug trade / money-laundering business, and arms shipping spree which is married to the military-industrial complex.
Please help me spread the word about James Jaeger’s new movie project: “MAINSTREAM: How Hollywood Movies and the New York Media Are Promoting The Globalist Agenda” —

        Thank you Obbop.

  3. Yes…..there are those that have no business owning a weapon, but when those same types figure-out that a strapped-on bomb would be more effective, what will the gun grabbers do next? On the other hand, when a collapse of our economy happens and food stamps are stopped (oh wait, that has already begun), and groups of gangs begin to enter neighborhoods of those that have food, weapons and supplies….what shall you have to defend yourself?

We have seen how gangs of 20 storm a local 7/11 and steal everything they can, and all you have is a (5 round) .38 maybe, while the last thug shoots you with his black market weapon he purchased from a Mexican illegal arms trafficker, the .38 you have is illegally owned by you too because you hit your wife one time and you fear going to jail if you kill one of the thugs…..or worse, you are a top notch citizen, but never turned-in your AR-15, and you kill 10 of the thugs……you go to jail for life ! That’s what has happened in England…

Along the Mexican border from Brownsville to San Diego, drug smugglers carry AK-47 (assault rifles) as they transverse ranches and nearby towns into America. Will a ban on assault rifles include Mexican drug smugglers too? What should a rancher use to defend themselves against a group that decides to open fire on the ranch? A cell phone???

This is psychological warfare to take all weapons, not just to restrict a few, but all ! Now….THEY have the Gay Community yelling for gun control, yet none of them would dare touch a gun, out-of-fear…so, a perfect sect of a population to help stir the debate on gun control.

We know that most every single mass shooting has CIA / FBI written all over the event and when the timing is just right (politically) something always seems to happen and the gun grabbers go wild. Just research the FBI patsy informant involvement strategies for social engineering.

So….on Friday, a group of globalists, being led by criminal General / former CIA Director David Petraeus (after attending the Bilderberg Meeting), has been given his New World Order(s) for a new AmeriKa. We can safely assume that Petraeus’s judicial punishment for releasing top secret intelligence to his girlfriend….his sentence, a slap on the wrist and to be the “hero” figure” for the “Veteran” gun grabbing group, a CIA front at the very least. And of course, Hillary Clinton will not be indicted, because THEY need her as president to carry-on the disarmament of all Americans.

Maybe THEY don’t have a stern German accent, we’ve seen in movies that oppress the population through intimidation and death, but are soft speaking Americans that want to oppress all Americans.

Going after assault weapons is (another) step closer to full disarmament of all Americans in the face of terror and social unrest.

When other government’s take the weapons from the people, it’s the globalists that use tax payer money to send weapons to those oppressed in war torn countries. Hello John McCain and Lindsey Graham, of whom (also) attended the Bilderberg Meeting in Germany, after sending weapons, shoulder launch missiles and $5 million dollars to 5 guys in Syria !

There will not be another country sending Americans weapons (openly), but the gun grabbers will effectively create a booming business of black market weapons and gun running. Not to mention the booming sales of weapons and ammo across this nation as we speak.

WE can expect acceleration of events during the last days of this administration, the finale should be spectacular !

    1. Enough gay bashing. I am gay. I am proficient with firearms and defend our Second Amendment rights. Comments like yours are unbecoming and make people think Oathkeepers is a hate group.

  4. There has to be more to this than we know. For David Petraeus and Stanley McChrystal to go full-retard on these issues must be the result of either blackmail, bribe or they know something is coming and have made a deal with Team Tyranny .

When the “watch list” legislation came to Maryland, I submitted the following testimony:

Please feel free to share/copy/edit/use any of the information provided in the video to wake people up to the coming danger.

The video was also forwarded to all State Senators and members of the General Assembly with the following letter:

This video has been forwarded to Maryland news media outlets, every member of the Maryland General Assembly and every member of the Maryland Senate. The Maryland Legislature has a duty to only enact laws that comply with the U.S. Constitution. Each of you took an oath. You have a responsibility to consider the significant legal expense and burden that enacting an unconstitutional law will place on the state. You are also responsible to only enact laws that are based on factual information, not political bias or political party appeasement.

With regard to the subject bills, the legal standard of “Probable Cause” is the minimum standard required to deny or restrict an individual’s rights and must be supported by due process according to the U.S. Constitution. Due process generally requires the following elements, none of which are afforded to individuals under the subject bills:
    – An unbiased tribunal.
    – Notice of the proposed action and the grounds asserted for it.
    – Opportunity to present reasons why the proposed action should not be taken.
    – The right to present evidence, including the right to call witnesses.
    – The right to know opposing evidence.
    – The right to cross-examine adverse witnesses.
    – A decision based exclusively on the evidence presented.
    – Opportunity to be represented by counsel.
    – Requirement that the tribunal prepare a record of the evidence presented.
    – Requirement that the tribunal prepare written findings of fact and reasons for its decision.

The database labeled “The Terrorist Watchlist” is actually not a watch list at all. It was designed for the collection of information regarding an individual that may, through additional data collection and analysis, rise to the level of the individual’s inclusion on the “No-Fly List” or justify further investigation. Inclusion on the list itself does not result in an investigation or even rise to the level of reasonable suspicion.

Because probable cause has not been established prior to an individual being placed on the “Terrorist Watchlist” and because there is no due process afforded, using the list to restrict a citizen’s rights is a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

    These bills must be opposed.

The Maryland bills did not make it out of committee and died.

  5. Anyone who wants to take your guns is, at very least, is someone who does not care if you are murdered, injured, robbed or raped. Keep that in mind when they come at you with their lying claims of being “moderate” and “responsible”. Their kind was responsible for the murders of tens of millions of innocent victims of communism and national socialism in the last century.

  6. Imagine the worst. Gun control/seizure in enacted and to be enforced by local national guard. You have a couple of semi auto handguns and a shotgun. You are sitting at home and there is a knock at the door. You answer and there is your son or daughter in national guard uniform. You look behind them and there are two of your grandchildren also in uniform. They have been reluctantly been mandated by the government you previously served to take your weapons from you. You may have taught them as children to shoot the very weapons they are to seize. You see the dread in their eyes. But you also admire their sense of duty however misguided it may be. In the moment, your heart will not allow you to resist with deadly force against your family members.
I would be forced to die on my feet rather than live on my knees. God HELP America.

    1. You “drew” an excellent picture, but…

“… there is your son or daughter in national guard uniform. You look behind them and there are two of your grandchildren also in uniform…”

First, required registration and drafting is forbidden by the US Constitution into everything except the Militia, where it is a requirement for all able-bodied Americans.

Daniel Webster: “Where is it written in the Constitution, in what article or section is it contained, that you may take children from their parents and parents from their children, and compel them to fight the battles of any war in which the folly and wickedness of the government may engage itself? Under what concealment has this power lain hidden, which now for the first time comes forth, with a tremendous and baleful aspect, to trample down and destroy the dearest right of personal liberty? Who will show me any Constitutional injunction which makes it the duty of the American people to surrender everything valuable in life, and even life, itself, whenever the purposes of an ambitious and mischievous government may require it? … A free government with an uncontrolled power of military conscription is the most ridiculous and abominable contradiction and nonsense that ever entered into the heads of men”.

George Washington, “The Writings of George Washington”: “It may be laid down, as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every citizen who enjoys the protection of a free government…, but even of his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency.”

Cicero, 55 BC: “A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

  7. I live in Tucson and am very familiar with Grabby Gabby and her “only famous because he is married to Gabby” husband Kelly. I have one question for him and his quoted statement, “As service members, each of us swore and oath to protect our Constitution and the homeland”. MY OATH has absolutely no mention of any homeland or any other made up land in it. So, just what oath did you swear allegiance to Mr. Kelly?

  8. If we lose, abridge, or limit one freedom 49 good honest citizens died for nothing and Isis/Islamic Terror wins.
    Its that simple

  9. We need Obama gone. In the last 8 years he has turned this country upside down. I warned you when he appeared on the horizon he was a Muslim looking to bring America to her knees. So far he has accomplished his mission. Now we have supposedly honorable men jumping ship on America. For what purpose? Money? Blackmail? How are they being controlled? And by whom? One fact these liberal gun control maggots are forgetting. We will not go peacefully to slaughter.

  10. This is the last action they need to take to insure that America and freedom falls. You see , this way, they are assured that when the police are told to stand down and watch the lib dogs tear apart those who oppose them the lib dogs won’t have to be concerned about their victim defending themselves. When a mayor tells the lib dogs to go ahead , burn, destroy, loot and kill, law-abiding citizens will be defenseless. When a islamist guns down Americans there will be no possibility of stopping him/her. The list of reasons the libs are attempting to disarm Americans goes on but there is only one goal, the destruction of America, Americans , Freedom and an attempt to remove Jesus Christ from America.

    1. America is not going to fall. We might limp a bit when it is over, but we will NOT fall. America has values that were put on the shelf, but Oathkeepers, 3%er’s, constitutional preachers, independent movie makers, etc are dusting them off and placing them out for all to see, bringing light to those dark places.

Is it also not time to restart our own industries under constitutional values and laws?

BTW, Stewart, that was the best speech ever from you I thought, listing actions to be taken, etc (NW OK, 2nd Annual). Follow through and I will forgive that you are an attorney (lol) and put my backing behind you as the next US Prez.

Can you fight the battle of power and be a US President like G. Washington was? That is much needed here in America. Can You follow the US Constitution exactly as written and ignore the dark whispers that will be working to destroy your integrity? Think about it.

All, we need to redo all elections in all 50 states (yeah, I n=know not all have voted yet, but all are under the fraudulent election system so …). We will need constitutional candidates for ALL positions, except all non constitutional agencies – they will immediately no longer exist. There is at least 700 – 800 positions within the legislative branch – not all elected – when we remove and dump the chaff. Probably the same within the executive and judicial. Those interested in being in the general government, KNOW the US Constitution.

We need to do the same in the states.

The Pentagon is not supposed to exist, any suggestions there all? Plus we need to set up the Militias in each state, then those on lists for positions within the general governments – mostly full time, but forced replacement with states every year, 2 years?

We will need those that can train in the US Constitution in our governments, and also in the state Constitution in each state. Anyone good with logistics here that can start diagramming these things? Also, we will need industry to create those base things that are made into other things, all American. Then the industries that create things form those, etc. We will need to replace AT&T, Comcast, ETC but the buildings, equipment will be there for true Americans to use when starting up(?) if is okay with all and constitutional since all those corporations/etcs that worked against our nation will be tossed out, forbidden to come back or sell/trade/etc anything here again even from other nations. Free Trade will mean the American people trading among themselves and with other states.

After our nation is rebuilt we can start trading outside our nation, but American Made will stand for value in the world again. Not like that JUNK sent here for us to by and use.

Yeah, those are my dreams, welcome aboard, I see no reason to not work towards them.

If there were never intended to be action to defend the Constitution from those who are domestically attempting to destroy its power and authority, why would each Oath require it of those who take the Oaths?

Chief Tecumseh: “When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

      1. I believe we should be careful with the terms we use. Your article was very good. IMHO when one means the USA, one should say the USA. America consists of two continents, where the USA is a country. Even Merriam-Webster got it screwed up. Made in America does not equal Made in USA. As an example, I have 4 cars, a 65 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, a 67 Chevrolet pickup, a 95 Dodge Neon, and a 98 Mercury Grand Marquis. All 4 cars were “Made in America,” but only the 65 and the 67 were “Made in USA;” the 95 and the 97 were made outside the borders of the USA. I know this is nitpicking a bit, but I’m an old fart and pretty much set in my ways, but I am definitely a patriot that believes in “borders, language, and culture” and I would like to know exactly what someone is talking about when it comes to my country. We really do have some very serious problems with this Muslim/Marxist coup of a government that need immediate attention! Enemies at the border we can handle pretty easily, but traitors within the government are a great deal more difficult to deal with. However, deal with it we must, and soon!

      2. Thank you for that catch. I agree that language and words matter. I screwed up there!

  11. I remember when they said “Calling him ‘Betrayus’ is unacceptable.”
Well now, I think it was dead on.

Oh and I served 22 years and ended 240% VA rated service connected disabled in 1996. Today I am well over 300%. I think I have a right to make these comments. I EARNED them.

  12. People need to be much more discriminating in who they pay attention to, or whose lead they choose to follow. Holding high military rank, or prestigious positions doesn’t necessarily mean that a person is smart, sane, patriotic, or understands the Constitution they took the oath to defend. There have always been people in the military driven by leftist politics, and those who will do, or say anything, and enthusiastically support any program in order to advance in the corporate hierarchy.

In recent times, these have been the ones sought out by the suits in the Pentagon for promotion and appointment to high command positions. Advancement into the realm of generals and admirals has never been a guarantee of competence, and it is much less so in today’s military. When Gen. Boykin is declared persona non grata at an on-base prayer breakfast, it’s a sign of the sort of culture that exists among the present top brass.

  13. Maybe this was why Patreus was running from journalists outside the Bilderberg group meeting in Germany last week… The Guardian insinuates he was in DC launching this gun control initiative… Instead he was taking marching orders from elite behind closed doors, amid a MSM blackout.

  14. The anti-Trump protestors in Arizona were a lot less violent in Arizona than in San Jose, Ca. (so much for police protection). The difference: the free choice to own guns.

  15. Simply more exemplars of walking-talking-fecal-nuggets who amount to naught but domestic enemies of the Constitution and of Liberty.

They should be confronted and openly identified as above and then belittled and/or ignored.

  16. I like to KISS. We’re way past the point of no return. The faster the Government takes our rights away, then the quicker we can get around to the next Revolution. The Government doesn’t grant us these rights. These rights exist in the laws of nature and that of nature’s God. The signer’s of the Declaration weren’t concerned when they pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. I’ve been ready for the next Revolution. In the meantime I’ll live my life as a Free Man. When the time comes, I will not obey, I will not comply, and I will resist!

  17. In the United States, the power of the federal judiciary to review and invalidate unconstitutional acts of the federal executive branch is stated in the constitution, Article III sections 1 and 2: “The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. … The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority…” The first famous statement of “the judicial power” was Marbury v. Madison, 5 U.S. (1 Cranch) 137 (1803). Later cases interpreted the “judicial power” of Article III to establish the power of federal courts to consider or overturn any action of Congress or of any state that conflicts with the Constitution.

With this in mind, the framers wrote the Constitution to provide for three separate, but equally powerful, branches of government: the Legislative Branch (which writes the laws); the Executive Branch (which carries out the laws); and the Judicial Branch (which reviews the way laws are applied).

Doesn’t the U.S. Constitution only apply to the Federal Government? No. The U.S. Constitution binds what the States can and cannot do in many places (example: Article I sec, 9-10), and the Bill of Rights.

Even in places where it specifically mentions the Federal Government, it has widely been interpreted as applying to the States as well. An example is the First Amendment:

“Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech…”

Despite the language “Congress shall make no law”, in hundreds of cases over the last few decades the Supreme Court has upheld that the right to free speech (as well as the others listed in the Bill of Rights) are so sacred to us as a people, that the State Governments have been compelled to not trod upon them

Remember, you cannot convey a right which you don’t already have. Thus, if the State has no right abridge the freedom of speech, they cannot create an entity (like a corporation) which *does*.
