The Brave New World of Propaganda

press and media camera ,video photographer on duty in public news coverage event for reporter and mass media communication

The following article is very on target, but it leaves out a very important side to this story. Indeed, in my opinion it is the most important side to those of us that are here in the United States. That is that we here have been one of the the biggest victims of this abuse of power by not only the powers that be in government but also the 6 corporations that control the main stream news narrative. In fact the decades old ban of the use of propaganda on the American civilians that had been in affect since the 1948 cold war has recently been lifted in a revision of the NDAA. Like so many of the powers granted by the NDAA and even the Patriot we are supposed to believe that just because they can use these new powers against good American citizens, it doesn’t mean they will. They have assured us time and again that they would never use these tactics on our own citizens.

 According to Max Keiser:

On 12/29/12, President Obama signed HR 4310, the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act. Section 1078 (thomas.loc. gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:H.R.4310:) of the bill authorizes the use of propaganda inside the US, which had previously been banned since 1948 when the Smith-Mundt Act was passed.

We must assume that this “new era of propaganda” is affecting us just as much as the rest of the world, if not more. How long will we continue to go back to sleep and allow our rights to be further eroded away?

Paris (AFP) – World press freedom deteriorated in 2015, especially in the Americas, advocacy group Reporters Without Borders said Wednesday as it released its annual rankings, warning of “a new era of propaganda”.

The World Press Freedom Index ranks 180 countries on indicators such as media independence, self-censorship, the rule of law, transparency and abuses.

This year’s report warned of a climate of fear that has seen world leaders “developing a form of paranoia about legitimate journalism.”

Christophe Deloire, secretary general of the Paris-based group told AFP there had been a decline in all parts of the world, with Latin America of particular concern.

“All of the indicators show a deterioration. Numerous authorities are trying to regain control of their countries, fearing overly open public debate,” he said.

“Today, it is increasingly easy for powers to appeal directly to the public through new technologies, and so there is a greater degree of violence against those who represent independent information,” he added.

“We are entering a new era of propaganda where new technologies allow the low-cost dissemination of their own communication, their information, as dictated. On the other side, journalists are the ones who get in the way.”

The situation was particularly grave in Latin America, the report said, highlighting “institutional violence” in Venezuela and Ecuador, organised crime in Honduras, impunity in Colombia, corruption in Brazil and media concentration in Argentina as the main obstacles to press freedom.

Among the lowest ranked countries were Syria, at 177th place out of 180, just below China (176th) but above North Korea (179th) and last placed Eritrea.

Japan slumped to 72nd due to what the watchdog identified as self-censorship towards Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, while Finland retained its top spot for the sixth consecutive year, followed by the Netherlands and Norway.

– Europe on ‘downhill course’ –

While Europe remained the region with the most press freedom, Reporters Without Borders warned that the misuse of counter-terrorist and counter-espionage measures and conflicts of interest had put it on “a downhill course”.

Poland fell a massive 29 places to 49th due to government seeking to restore Polish ownership of foreign owned Polish media.

And France dropped seven places to 45th because “most of the private-sector national media are now owned by a handful of businessmen with interests in areas of the economy unrelated to the media.”

In Europe threats to journalists were linked to rising nationalism which saw death threats in Sweden, which dropped three places to 8th , and attacks on journalists during anti-Muslim rallies in Germany (which dropped four spots to 16).

“And finally, it was in Paris that the attack on Charlie Hebdo took place on 7 January 2015, an attack masterminded from Yemen. So, Europe was also the victim of the world’s demons,” read the report.

– Namibia shines in Africa –

In Africa a series of political crises and terrorism continued to erode press freedom.

South Sudan dropped 15 places to 140th due to intimidation of journalists during its civil war.

Efforts by presidents to stay in power in the Republic of Congo (115), Uganda (102) and Djibouti (172) “led to pre-election violence against journalists and harsh, government-orchestrated censorship of the media.”

“As a result of the president’s obstinacy in Burundi (156th), the leading independent media were destroyed, more than 100 journalists fled abroad and Burundi fell 11 places in the Index,” said the report.

The threat of jihadist groups in Mali — where one group threatened to behead foreign journalists — and Nigeria, led to a decline in press freedom in both countries.

In a glowing example of press freedom in Africa, Namibia was the continent’s best-ranked country at number 17.

“Its journalists are safe, its media landscape is diverse and no restrictions are placed on the Internet.”

Stewart Rhodes

Stewart is the founder and National President of Oath Keepers. He served as a U.S. Army paratrooper until disabled in a rough terrain parachuting accident during a night jump. He is a former firearms instructor, former member of Rep. Ron Paul’s DC staff, and served as a volunteer firefighter in Montana. Stewart previously wrote the monthly Enemy at the Gates column for S.W.A.T. Magazine. Stewart graduated from Yale Law School in 2004, where his paper “Solving the Puzzle of Enemy Combatant Status” won Yale’s Miller prize for best paper on the Bill of Rights. He assisted teaching U.S. military history at Yale, was a Yale Research Scholar, and is writing a book on the dangers of applying the laws of war to the American people.

  1. Supreme Court, Red Lion v. FCC, 1969: “It is the purpose of the First Amendment to preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, rather than to countenance monopolization of that market, whether it be by the Government itself or a private licensee. It is the right of the public to receive suitable access to social, political, esthetic, moral, and other ideas and experiences which is crucial here. That right may not constitutionally be abridged either by Congress or by the FCC.”

It was constitutionally abridged by the agency that was created to stop monopolies from happening here in America deliberately. It was Treason committed against the American people, and I cannot wait until we actually start charging them with their crimes.

  2. You and most of America Cal! My guess is that Mr. “Art of the Deal” is negotiating the deal of the century as we speak. Immunity from prosecution better not be on the table…

    1. The US Constitution lists the immunities allowed to those who SERVE WITHIN our government. No where were they delegated the authority to create their own list which makes them immune to our laws. Those immunities listed within the US Constitution ONLY.

As the acknowledged Father of the US Constitution, James Madison, said in Federalist 57, making clear exactly what those in government are immune from when he wrote that Congress “can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as on the great mass of the society.”

As Thomas Jefferson also made clear: “Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.” That is not to be allowed here in America, yet we have allowed those who are our employees – elected, hired, contracted, etc to define their own authority.

Something else to consider is that the framers and forefathers, even those that served within our federal government after its beginning understood that it is “We the People of the united States” are the enforcers of our US Constitution and all laws in Pursuance thereof it, plus are to hold those who serve accountable for the duties of the position they occupy and for keeping the Oath as required – to keep them using ONLY the authority of the branch and/or office they occupy, allowing no other to be used by them joining the separated powers to one branch or position to be used against us. That those who serve within the judicial system, the judges are also held to the US Constitution and delegated powers by us be it by enforcing the “Good Behaviour” conditions of those who serve as judges, to enforcing the taking and keeping of the Oaths in ALL Governmental positions, to maintaining the separation of powers betwein not only the different branches and us, but also between the states and the federal government who BOTH have the authority delegated to them in writing.

George Washington in his Farewell Address: “It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free Country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective Constitutional spheres; avoiding in the exercise of the Powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create whatever the form of government, a real despotism. The necessity of reciprocal checks in the exercise of political power; by dividing and distributing it into different depositories, and constituting each the Guardian of the Public Weal against invasions by the others, has been evinced by experiments ancient and modern; some of them in our country and under our own eyes. To preserve them must be as necessary as to institute them.”

Benjamin Franklin: “In free governments the rulers are the servants, and the people their superiors and sovereigns. For the former, therefore, to return among the latter was not to degrade but to promote them.”

Thomas Jefferson: “When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil.”

Abraham Lincoln: “We, the people, are the rightful masters of both congress and the courts – not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution.”

  3. I remember when I first heard of the NDAA and after that I became infuriated. I called an old shooting buddy of mine who is in Texas and he told me of a group called Oath Keepers, and I should check them out.. Well I did and all though I am not a dues paying member, I still read everyday and comment once in a while as well as other pro liberty sites. I must say now after four plus yrs. I almost feel as if I would have stayed dumb.I would be a lot healthier now, for I am four yrs. older, two heart attacks, severe arthritis, and cancer, I just feel like at my age, and probably most of us on this site, we got enough problems. The world has been corrupt since the fall of man and man’s heart is depraved. If it isn’t Obama or Hillary,it will be another power freaking dicktraytor. I feel that until the King of Kings comes back,Jesus the Christ that nothing is going to get better. The Lords people may intercede and hold of judgement for a while longer, but when the Lord say’s Time Is Up, then Time Is Up. Just my 2 cents.

    1. When our friends on the left attempt to manipulate us into compliance by “using” God in shamelessly asking us “What would Jesus do?”…they are really invoking the anti-Christ and lecturing us to “love the sin”. In reality, our Lord’s assault on the money-changers defiling his Father’s House tells us exactly what Jesus would do. We are in that moment Charlie…with the individual skill, ability and strength each one of us possesses, we are called to action.

  4. @Chip, Chip if you are a brother in Christ and are rebuking me or something, I say God bless you and go for it. I was really trying to say I am really tired, I am sick and to tell you the truth I really am ready to leave this world. In my illnesses, I have been able to read a lot of history, opinions and on and on and on. I loved my country, but have come to find out that since it’s inception that, yes even some of the founders were not so great and even were working to take it apart.I believe the Bible and what it says Chip, and I believe we are now in the final stages of human govt. If I am correct Chip then ALL HUMAN GOVT. WILL FALL, at the end of the great tribulation period. Will I protect to the best of my ability my family and Neighbors? Sure, but I have read Gods word and know what the end of the story is and if Johnny Jihad gets to take my head, well it is in Gods hand.I suppose it is kind of like Cals endings on his posts of Techumshi < spelling? My prayer to the Lord is that no matter how I go Lord, please do not let me dishonor you nor be a coward.
    God Bless, CB

    1. @Chip & Charlie Brown: I think you’re both right. All human government will fail. And the left continuously tries to use Jesus against us, because what they don’t understand is that “understanding” is made clear by the Holy Spirit of God, and they don’t have the Holy Spirit.
If I understand, after intense study for years, the last days are fast approaching. But we must not give up protecting ourselves and our loved ones and our ‘neighbors’ until that time that we are taken up and away. And, CB, my prayer is like yours…”Lord, no matter how I go, let me not dishonor You, nor be a coward.”
      Blessings to you both.

    2. No Charlie…WnW read us both right. God has infused us all. with special purpose and 1,001 ways to fight, resist, engage, educate, inspire, support, encourage. Miracles occur and battles are turned in an instant of time from the spark of one person. You are in my prayers CB! Keep the faith…

    3. @Charlie BROWN Hang in there brother. While I myself am not sick, my wife is chronically ill. We have been together for over 20 years and I know what it is like to see me loved ones in such a state that you wonder if it is worth the pain and suffering to carry on. However I have also come to have faith in hope. That God tests our steel in many ways and has a very definite reason for our trials. We all have a part to play still. The fact that you are awakening to what is really happening around us is testiment to Gods plan in action in my opinion. Hang in there.

      For the Republic,

      Jason Van Tatenhove
