Congress Fixes “Sexist” Draft – Votes To Require Women To Register For Selection

This article was written by Matthew Cox and originally published at

With all the problems facing America – both at home and abroad – The House Armed Services Committee decided on Wednesday to solve one of the nation’s crucial “problems” – a “sexist draft.”

As reports on Wednesday the committee approved (by a narrow margin) an amendment to a defense bill to require women to register for the draft.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, a Republican from California, proposed the amendment to lift the restriction on women registering for the selective service at a committee-wide mark-up session of the proposed fiscal 2017 National Defense Authorization Act.
“Here is why I think this is important; it doesn’t matter in this debate whether you think women should be in the infantry or be in special operations,” Hunter said during the session on Wednesday night. “I personally don’t. If we had that vote in committee today I would vote against women being in infantry and special operations.

“But this is not about women serving in the infantry. The administration has made that decision unilaterally disregarding what the Marine Corps and special operations communities have said. But that’s not what this is about. Right now the draft is sexist. Right now the draft only drafts young men. Women are excluded.

Ironically, Hunter then went on to explain that his generation has not seen the kind of warfare that requires a draft… and so why waste time on this? Unless they think something is coming?

“That is what a draft is for,” he added. “A draft is because people started dying in the infantry and you need more bodies in infantry, that is what a draft if for. The administration would like to make this decision on its own. I think we should make this decision.”

Hunter, who requested a roll-call vote on the measure, ended up voting against his own amendment.

The amendment passed 32 votes to 30 votes, with strong support from female committee members.

  1. Yet…

Daniel Webster: “Where is it written in the Constitution, in what article or section is it contained, that you may take children from their parents and parents from their children, and compel them to fight the battles of any war in which the folly and wickedness of the government may engage itself? Under what concealment has this power lain hidden, which now for the first time comes forth, with a tremendous and baleful aspect, to trample down and destroy the dearest right of personal liberty? Who will show me any Constitutional injunction which makes it the duty of the American people to surrender everything valuable in life, and even life, itself, whenever the purposes of an ambitious and mischievous government may require it? … A free government with an uncontrolled power of military conscription is the most ridiculous and abominable contradiction and nonsense that ever entered into the heads of men”.

Since those that serve within our governments are NOT ALLOWED to keep a “standing military”, they are to use the Militia trained as the congress requires the military to be trained so that the Militia can defend our nation while – IF a military is needed – they can be drawn from the militia. Congress is ONLY ALLOWED to fund the military for two years with no new CONGRESSIONALLY DECLARED war.

US Constitution, Article I, Section 8, Clause 11: “To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water”.

Clause 12: “To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years”.

The money that the congress has illegally spent beyond the lawfully allowed time of two years for the support of a “standing military” was/and still is a misappropriation of funds (misappropriation n. the intentional, illegal use of the property or funds of another person for one’s own use or other unauthorized purpose, particularly by a public official…), a felony, a crime against the American people.

“To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years” is really straightforward, and no “misunderstanding” of the words can be used as an excuse for disobeying that lawfully required duty. The members of congress can be, and should be, held personally responsible for that breach of trust. That is correct, they must pay back the funds used unlawfully out of their personal accounts.

There can lawfully be no (NO!) standing army except in times of war, and ONLY the congress can lawfully declare war under the contract they get their duties and powers from. When that power is delegated to the congress, it is forbidden to others of different branches, agencies,m entities – foreign and domestic, etc.

James Madison: “The power to declare war, including the power of judging the causes of war, is fully and exclusively vested in the legislature … the executive has no right, in any case, to decide the question, whether there is or is not cause for declaring war.”

George Washington: “The constitution vests the power of declaring war in Congress; therefore no offensive expedition of importance can be undertaken until after they shall have deliberated upon the subject and authorized such a measure.”

*War defined: ‘Open and declared conflict between the armed forces of two or more states or nations’.

George Washington, Farewell Address: “It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free Country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective Constitutional spheres; avoiding in the exercise of the Powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create whatever the form of government, a real despotism. The necessity of reciprocal checks in the exercise of political power; by dividing and distributing it into different depositories, and constituting each the Guardian of the Public Weal against invasions by the others, has been evinced by experiments ancient and modern; some of them in our country and under our own eyes. To preserve them must be as necessary as to institute them.”

Clause 12 was put in as a lawfully assigned duty of congress because, as James Madison, the Father of the US Constitution warned: “No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare”. And today we can see that those words are true – we are constantly in unlawful wars that we have NO LAWFUL reason to be in at the behest of corporations, foreign nations, foreign entities, etc. We have a fourth and fifth branch that was not only NOT delegated, but forbidden in the Pentagon/Military Industrial Complex and the Federal Reserve that impoverish our nation and subjugate our people on purpose.

James Madison: “In time of actual war, great discretionary powers are constantly given to the Executive Magistrate. Constant apprehension of War, has the same tendency to render the head too large for the body. A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defence against foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people.”

James Madison: “Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied: and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals, engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.

“What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to PREVENT THE ESTABLISMENT OF A STANDING ARMY, the bane of liberty….” Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, floor debate over the 2nd Amendment, I Annals of Congress

Clause 15: “To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel invasions. “

This clause is very straightforward also. The militia of each state is entrusted with the defense of the USA and her people, not just with the defense of their state; and they are to be armed and trained in the use of/with weapons that can repel any invasions bearing modern weapons of war.

“It is always dangerous to the liberties of the people to have an army stationed among them, over which they have no control … The Militia is composed of free Citizens. There is therefore no danger of their making use of their Power to the destruction of their own Rights, or suffering others to invade them..” Samuel Adams

Justice Story, Associate Justice, Supreme Court wrote: “The next amendment is: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
“The importance of this article will scarcely be doubted by any persons, who have duly reflected upon the subject. The militia is the natural defence of a free country against sudden foreign invasions, domestic insurrections, and domestic usurpations of power by rulers. It is against sound policy for a free people to keep up large military establishments and standing armies in time of peace, both from the enormous expenses, with which they are attended, and the facile means, which they afford to ambitious and unprincipled rulers, to subvert the government, or trample upon the rights of the people. The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them”.

Thomas Jefferson: “I have ever deemed it fundamental for the United States never to take active part in the quarrels of Europe. Their political interests are entirely distinct from ours. Their mutual jealousies, their balance of power, their complicated alliances, their forms and principles of government, are all foreign to us. They are nations of eternal war. “

John Quincy Adams: “America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom.”
They may decree it, but it is NOT lawful and binding on the American people, it is just another case of Treason and *Terrorism against our nation by those that SERVE WITHIN our governments.

*28 C.F.R. Section 0.85 Terrorism is defined as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives”.

This is NOT the American way as is defined by the US Constitution, our legitimate government, but is the work of Traitors and Domestic Enemies of the USA and the American people.

    1. Im not from the us, but the people that wrote the us constitution did took into consideration a lot of problems and how to avoid them, by the way i love the first part which say, “We hold this truths to be self evident”, it has so many applications, wich may have been intended.

  2. Cal, thank you ever so much for the information you provided…it is excellent…So, speaking of “wars”…people may want to read one of the latest articles at and it is titled “Be A Proud American”…he refers you to an article written by a very educated individual in Iraq…telling you of what the bombing of a city really does…and this is a recent bombing by…the USA,,,look at the targets that get hit…can you imagine if this happened in a city you may live in?

Anyway, I read comments, and you need to read them….

Dr. Vieira wrote a great article at January 14, 2008 titled: “Shadows of Nuremberg”… just go to NWV’s, at the left sidebar, find his name, hit on it, and get all his articles…he quotes our constitution as saying (re:war) …”the genius and character of our institutions are PEACEFUL…..etc, etc…”

There was an article at lewrockwell a while back that showed all the wars America has been in since it’s beginning…..all years except maybe 15. I will post that shortly….so many I never heard of.

  3. I dont see the problem with drafting woman, that is if you pay no consideration to what Cal said, but even if you do i dont see why they shouldnt assuming the militia where to be needed, woman in combat roles on the modern warfare era are comon.

  4. Bombarded by the constant clamoring of “equal rights” “equal pay” and other shrill voices in regards to female/male disparities I notice a woeful lack of the girls screeching demands for equal responsibilities.

To narrow down an extremely complex topic and disregarding a multitude of various aspects… in GENERAL… if males have to sign up for the military draft and face severe consequences for failing to do so then the gals should be required to meet the same responsibility.

If the draft is ever reinstated I can foresee the gals performing support roles and avoiding active combat zones but, then again… who knows.
