OPB has obtained two videos of Lisa Bundy and Ammon Bundy speaking to the remaining militants inside the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
In the videos, the couple asks David Fry, husband and wife Sean and Sandy Anderson, and Jeff Banta to leave the refuge.
“This was never meant to be an armed standoff,” Ammon Bundy said in the newly released video. “Please do not make it about something it wasn’t supposed to be. Go home to your families.”
“To those at the refuge please stand down,“ Bundy said from the Multnomah County Detention Center.
The videos are yet another attempt by the Bundys to convince the militants to leave.
On Friday, a federal judge denied Bundy bail because the occupation is ongoing.
Attorneys Mike Arnold and Lissa Casey and Ammon Bundy’s wife, Lisa Bundy, spoke directly to the occupiers in the second video.
Arnold told the occupiers that he had attempted to reach them by phone Friday.
“We wanted to reach out and answer any questions that you may have,” said Arnold.
“You’re going to do what you’re going to do, but we thought it would be a good opportunity to talk on the phone, look each other in the eyes, and see if we can at least communicate,” he told the occupiers.
Arnold said that the FBI had told him certain things about the occupiers’ safe passage from the refuge, and he asked the militants to reach out to him so he could confirm those details with the occupiers directly.
