Burns, OR Town Hall Meeting Jan. 11, 2016. Sheriff Ward: “There’s an Hour Glass and It’s Runnin, and Time’s Gonna Run Out”

Sheriff begins speaking at 34:05 into the video:

I would like to ask these folks to go home and let’s work through this peacefully.  I don’t want to stand up here and talk about an investigation that’s going on.  I don’t want to put details out there, but the fact is that there’s an hour glass and it’s runin’ and times gonna run out, so we need to work through this sooner than later.  Please go home.

The Sheriff did not elaborate on what he meant, but it is cause for concern.   What is the rush?  The Feds need to handle this like the Montana Freeman standoff, or like the handled the Indian MOVE occupation of Alcatraz,   There is no emergency, unless the Feds create one.   Ammon and his guys are out in an empty building, in the middle of nowhere.

As Dr. Edwin Vieira pointed out in a comment on this site, what Ammon and crew are doing is essentially a civil disobedience sit-in like the left has been doing for decades, in college Dean offices and government offices all over the country.  These cowboys and veterans just happen to be armed, as we Westerners tend to be.  People need to get over it and chill out.   There are no hostages, there are no close-by neighbors, there is nobody there except those who want to be.  Nobody is in danger unless the Feds do something stupid.   Ammon Bundy himself has dialed back the rhetoric, and that of his men, and is now asking everyone to deescalate and not have long guns out, and basically just relax.

And hopefully that is what happens.  The problem is, the left is screaming for blood, screaming for Obama to do something to put a stop to it, sooner rather than later, to show us who’s boss.

When watching this video, keep in mind that nearly half the town works for the Feds, such as BLM.  Apparently, even the Sheriff used to be a BLM man.   The other half are ranchers and such who actually create wealth, rather than just sucking up ours through government paychecks.   So it is split.  half Loyalist “Tory,” half patriot.   And that is why this pubic meeting is so stridently anti-Bundy.   Word from our guys on the ground, including Oath Keepers BOD member SGM Joseph Santoro (Ret.), is that there is a great deal of support among the actual ranchers and others who don’t work for the Feds.  That throws a new light on it.   Those ranchers need to get to these public meetings so the nation doesn’t get an inaccurate perception of local sentiment.

We live in interesting times.

PS – and as for Pete Santilli being kicked out, after interrupting the speaker, and then trying to say he has a First Amendment protected right to do so, he doesn’t seem to understand how free speech at a public speaking event works.  Yes, he has a right to free speech, but so does the speaker, and when he interrupts a speaker, he is infringing on that person’s right to free speech.  Doesn’t matter if you don’t like his speech.  Doesn’t matter if you think he, or the other speakers, are failing to talk about things you think should be discussed.  They have a right to be statist-minded idiots if they want to.  Then during questions, you can ask the hard questions.  That’s how it works.  Kinda like on a talk show.   Someone can’t barge into the host’s studio and take over the mic because the host is not talking about things he wants discussed.   He can call in and wait to ask a question, but he has no right to override the host’s speech.  And interrupting a speaker is also not the best thing to do if you are trying to win the hearts and minds of the locals and it makes it easier for the opposition to demonize you.

  1. It was apparent that the Sheriff was a tool from the start. His narrative and victim status gave it away. I’m fairly certain the protestors didn’t follow his wife and slash her tires. That’s the sort of thing Progressives do.

I am supportive of this cause. I had been working against borganizations like; tpl.org and nature.org for some time now. Having said that; Ammon may need a little help from the Oathkeepers in understanding leadership structure. He has performed a couple of (for lack of a better term) Self Fatalistic mistakes. First, he should not have torn down any fences because that officially gives the impetus to prosecute under the same Antiterrorism law as the Hammonds. Second, when help comes (whether for protest support or other) take the help. In fact, their Progressive counterparts learned a long time ago that the more; the merrier. He just needed to set the ground rules and expect they will follow. Third, taking Federal documents is certainly punishable under that same terrorism law; however, now that he has them, there are a couple things to look for. My guess is that these administrators were scheduling public hearings during work hours, and probably one day after ads appeared in the newspaper. This is the new public silencer. They do it because it marginally falls within the law.

Environmental Assessments (EA); I searched the EIS’s (Environmental Impact Statement) from the BLM on this and found an unusual amount of FONSI’s (Finding Of No Significant Impact). One of them was for a dam replacement. Highly unusual! Another was for a Geothermal Plant, One was for a Mining outfit. There is no way on God’s Green Earth the last one would pass without a Consulting Firm being in their pocket.

This stuff is going on under the cloak of darkness in your own back yard as well. I have only had a little time to look at some of this stuff, but here are some links you should all be aware of; Put EIS in the search bar for any involved Federal Agency and you should get a return like this one. BTW, there are 6 agencies I have associated with this refuge so far. BPA, USGS, USFWS, BLM, USDA, and US Forest. That doesn’t include the Oregon DEQ, or Water administers such as http://search.usa.gov/search?affiliate=blm.gov&query=EIS+Malheur <– I searched "EIS Malheur" and got this return. Needless to say these folk in Burns are under siege.

I'm impressed by the way Oathkeepers have conducted themselves in all endeavors. Especially those 2 yo-yos from right here in Finley WA. Yep, that's right I was able to do some back research on the Vegas Cop Killers. They couldn't even get along with their drug dealers.
    Happy Hunting,

  2. So very happy to see more patriots showing up in Oregon to prevent a “Waco” situation. It’s my hope that when they see what is really happening, they also join in and support the full cause. The protection, however, is much appreciated!

Here is a video of these “domestic terrorists” working to clean up government messes: True patriots, when they can, leave things better than they were when they showed up!

  3. Whoever posted “Stepford Wives” about the people attending this meeting is right on the money! Notice how they are trying to make their own children afraid of a group of people who are 30 miles outside their town, with the talk that there is no threat to the school. Of course, there’s no threat! The Bundys and patriots would never threaten children! With having the schools on lock-out and having mental health counselors available, they seem to be conditioning their children to be fearful of life.

Why are these people not outraged over the abuses committed against their neighbor ranchers, especially the Hammonds? Why are they not supporting the members of their community who have been wronged by the federal government? What about the ranchers who saw their cows burned alive as a result of BLM-set burns? Rep. Greg Walden said in his speech on the floor of the House that a couple who was putting out spot fires, when the BLM then set a fire, were lucky to escape with their lives. Where is the outrage over these terrible things?

The venom being spewed toward Pete Santilli was terrible. While Santilli should not have spoken out when the speakers were talking, the people in the audience shouting at him — even throwing things at him — caused much more of a disruption than Santilli. That loud crude woman we hear off-camera who used bad language sounds like a terrible person, clearly not a Christian lady. As a woman, I’m embarrassed for my gender. Such a very different crowd than at the Harney County Committee of Safety meeting Friday night.

This really makes sense of what we were told by Oath Keepers, that there is little support in this community for the Hammonds and the plight of the ranchers. Totally understand now what Stewart Rhodes meant. My heart goes out to the Hammonds. Please God, send your blessings to them.

Someone said that Harney County used to be the 1st or 2nd wealthiest county in Oregon, now it’s the 2nd poorest. Look at the Harney County seal. It features a cow and a tall pine tree, symbolizing cattle ranching and the timber industry. They say the logging and saw mills have been shut down already, and now only a few ranches remain. Yet these people of Burns don’t see something is very wrong here?

  4. Stewart, when you asked the question on what the hurry was, my thought came to the deeds and the boundaries I believe it was that the Bundy group wanted to have a professional read. Bet there is a lot that the feds don’t want us pee-ons to know about.
