Oath Keepers News Alerts Point to Another Area of Needed Member Awareness
“Oath Keepers and Tea Partiers want to turn upstate New York into ‘New Amsterdam’,” a Friday Raw Story headline read.
“Oath Keepers Plans Billboard Outside Base,” another Friday headline informed readers, this time in New Jersey’s Cape May County Herald.
I knew about these stories because I subscribe to a Google News Alert for the search term “Oath Keepers.” I get daily emails telling me about every story appearing on the Google News feed. I urge you to subscribe as well.
Earlier this month I talked about the need for Oath Keepers to be force multipliers, identifying some ways to share information. That assumes we know about relevant developments to pass along to our friends and colleagues in the first place.
Aside from bookmarking the OathKeepers.org website, I also urge you to follow the Oath Keepers Facebook page. But in order to make sure you keep up with everything the media is saying, you also need to sign up for Google News Alerts.
To do that, simply enter “Oath Keepers” into the Google search bar. At the top of the results page, click on the tab that says “News.” That will take you to a page that shows results filtered to reflect news sources. You’ll notice some posts show downright hostile and insulting sentiments—we need to know about those too, so we can be aware of the lies being told and be prepared to debunk them if they start to spread.
Scroll down to the bottom of the Oath Keepers news result page and you’ll see an invitation to “Stay up to date on results for Oath Keepers,” along with a button labeled “Create alert.” Click on it and enter an email address, as well as specify preference options, such as how often you want to receive a notice, sources, and other criteria as you direct.
Communications and intelligence are necessary to support command and control. Be an informed force multiplier.
