Defending the Defenders

GUNSFMG
Oath Keepers and Operation Protect the Protectors are featured in the latest GUNS Magazine “Rights Watch” column.

Into this agenda-mandated leadership void stepped Oath Keepers, a national organization of current and retired military and law enforcement personnel and emergency responders. Under the banner of “Operation Protect the Protectors,” members acted as volunteer armed guards outside of recruiting stations…

“[W]e are calling on all Oath Keepers chapters in every state, and all individual Oath Keepers members, to step up in their community and stand guard at their local recruiting stations and Reserve centers (anywhere our military personnel are forced to be unarmed while exposed to attack) or assist as support for those who are standing guard,” Rhodes wrote in a national call to action. “We will stand guard … until the DOD changes its idiotic policy of insisting that recruiters go unarmed, while they are in uniform, in a clearly marked public office, open and accessible to anyone who wants to walk or drive up. They may as well order the service-members to walk unarmed, but in uniform, down the streets of Baghdad.”

“Defending the Defenders” is my latest GUNS Magazine “Rights Watch” column. The magazine posts them online months in advance of the hard copy magazine being physically published, because the editor doesn’t want to delay information readers need to know about as soon as possible.

In this case, many will learn about the operation  to stand watch over undefended installations for the first time, and that will get another boost when the issue hits mailboxes and newsstands. Because this kind of national exposure helps raise awareness about Oath Keepers and its mission, I’m asking you, the members, to make sure you let supportive friends within your spheres of influence know about this. And if you have something to add that will help do that, don’t be shy about leaving a comment on the GUNS website…

  1. I’ve been “on duty” on & off, for a couple weeks now, in the “Southern Tier” of south-central NY State.
I have worked with others ( both Oathkeepers & other organizations ) and alone.

It feels great to help out, and I am proud to contribute to my country’s need in this way.

Each time I stand duty, I am thanked not only by some of the Military Service personnel we watch out for,
-but by countless civilians who have said ‘thanks’ in so many ways as well… -from a bottle of water, Soft drinks, Ice Tea, sandwiches, fresh fruit, -even ice… – one time an entire large cooler full of these goodies was donated -with a great big ‘thank you’ from the lady who brought it to us, in near 90 degree morning heat….

I have yet, to hear even one contrary, or negative comment.

What more can be said. THE PEOPLE know

    1. WE TOO STAND GUARD BROTHER AND GET THE SAME RESPONSE. IT JUST AMAZES US AT HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO GIVE AND SAY THANK YOU FOR WHAT WE ARE DOING. THE THANK YOUS MEAN MORE THAN THE DONATIONS. IT TOUCHES OUR HEARTS AND RENEWS ARE FAITH IN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. KEEP FIGHTING BROTHER AND GOOD LUCK.

  2. My dh and I started open carrying everywhere, because they can’t (which is ridiculous).
