“The System is Broken”: Americans No Longer Believe In Its Institutions

This article was written by Mac Slavo and originally published at

It’s not difficult to see that the foundation is crumbling…

A new Gallup poll has found that already low “confidence” in our system of government, our economy, the media, banking, big business, religious institutions and watchdogs is further eroding.

“Americans’ confidence in most major U.S. institutions remains below the historical average for each one,” a Gallup spokesman said in a news release.

All in all, it’s a picture of a nation discouraged about its present and worried about its future, and highly doubtful that its institutions can pull America out of its trough.

There is plenty of good reason, with evidence uncovered daily, weekly and consistently throughout the years of the hypocrisy and failures of government, the failed promises of politicians, the lies and spin of the mainstream media and newspapers, the greed and exploitation of the financial sector and the “just us” mentality of above-the-law enforcers who are supposed to uphold justice.

Just check out how little faith remains in the structure of, well, just about any institution in America, by the numbers:

Only 8 percent have confidence in Congress, down by 16 points from a long-term average of 24 percent – the lowest of all institutions rated.

33 percent have confidence in the presidency, a drop from a historical average of 43 percent.

32 percent have confidence in the Supreme Court, down from 44.

28 percent have confidence in banks, down from 40 percent.

21 percent have confidence in big business, down from 24 percent.

24 percent have confidence in organized labor, down from 26.

24 percent have confidence in newspapers, down from 32 percent.

21 percent have confidence in television news, down from 30 percent.

52 percent of Americans […] are confident in the police [57 percent historically]

What else can be said, but that the system is broken?

Obviously it bears little resemblance to the one envisioned by the founding fathers and their emphasis on separation of powers and limited government.

None of the three branches of government are trusted by even close to a majority of the American populace… maybe that’s to be expected, with frequent media criticisms of political figures in a polarizing two party system.

But other pillars of society have lost their backing of the public, too – in astonishing numbers that show not only that the American dream is dead, but that private institutions are widely perceived as being just as corrupt as public ones (or worse).

To top it off – this perception is entirely deserved. The aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis consolidated the power and wealth of the big banks, and gave the Federal Reserve ultimate power over the economy, while average Americans suffered greatly.

Scandal after scandal revealed that corruption for what it is.

Media scandals – such as Brian Williams’ fabricated war zone stories and George Stephanopoulos’ attempt to conceal his conflicts of interest with the Clinton Foundation – have left a bad taste in the mouth of media consumers already facing fake news indigestion.

The factors are piling up beyond our capacity to excuse them away: fatigue from endless wars and threats of terrorism; cynically-false promises of hope and change; the repeated, brazen trampling of civil rights; a sharp decline of opportunity at the hands of economic recession; trade deals written in secret to enrich corporations; the rise of job-crushing technology and more have all sapped at the American spirit.

Whether most Americans follow these developments or not, they instinctually sense them. No one trustworthy is steering this ship – worse, no one may be at the wheel at all.

Who or what can turn things around?

That remains to be seen, but few will be willing to buy into the system if it remains on course.

The loss of confidence in the system ultimately relates to the loss of confidence in the freedom of the individual.

It is strong-willed and determined people who have always made this country, and any other, strong and vibrant.

The constant detriment of individual rights and the endless calls to transfer power to the collective – whether inside or outside of government – is the real source of the problem that this Gallup poll reflects.

Our best hope at a better world should start there. Is it still possible?

  1. “Who or what can turn things around?” …

We can, wth the truth and education. What was built today on lies and deceit, on propaganda and the modification of our language – in only 10 years many things can no longer be said or words used because WE allowed this to happen.

“The loss of confidence in the system ultimately relates to the loss of confidence in the freedom of the individual.”…

No, the system has nothing to do with the freedom of the individual. It is what the people, mostly those who were children of the last few decades were taught that “relates to the loss of confidence in the freedom of the individual”.

When they were taught this is the box and boundaries around one; then the box, the boundaries are only REMOVED through truth and education. Most people do not even know what the US Constitution is except as an abstract principal. They do not even know that we are NOT a democracy, but are a Constitutional Republic. They do not know that those that SERVE are not our rulers, and are under contracts for their behaviors while in office or while hired, contracted, etc within our governments.

How could they? WE who support it and believe in it do not use IT against those working from within to destroy our nation. We do not use the supreme LAW of this land as “law” but as a concept. WE do not use the tools constitutionally assigned to us as REQUIRED of us.

We do not organize the Militia of each state so that they can be used as CONSTITUTIONALLY intended and required. It is NOT those that serve within our governmetns who organize the arm of the US Constitution to keep themselves following it; it is us, “WE the People” who are the authority behind the laws and the Constitutions – US and state. It is OUR duty to see thatthere is a Militia in each state, not those that serve and who the Militia is not a “them” controlled element, but a people controlled element. Yet is IS the only LAWWFUL enforcement arm allowed within the USA.

Our CONSTITUTIONAL veterans and ex CONSTITUTIONAL LE’s are the “organzed”, trained Militia who are required to train us even when the governments are “taken over”.

John Adams, A Defense of the Constitutions of the United States 475: “The fundamental law of the militia is, that it be created, directed and commanded by the laws, and ever for the support of the laws.”

Alexander Hamilton, Fed 28: “The militia is a voluntary force NOT associated or under the control of the States EXCEPT when called out [when called into actual service]; a permanent or long standing force would be entirely different in make-up and call.”

The militia employed in the service of the United States or in service to their own state, are required to receive the same pay and allowances, as the troops of the United States, or the state National Guard while serving.

Lots of “Acts” were created to change how the Militia is used, and for what purposes, and though the courts went against the US Constitution and their own duties they upheld those unlawful actions. When one wants to know what is the duties of the Militia one MUST look to the Constitution and all laws THAT ARE IN PURSUANCE THEREOF IT, and to the framers and forefathers,; plus the uses of the Militia in US history.

Like many of the “laws” that are being enforced today, they are actually “color of law”, PRETEND laws that the ignorant enforcers who has taken an Oath and not bothered to read the US Constitution for which they are DIRECTLY ACCOUNTABLE are responsible for, implement.

“The loss of confidence in the system ultimately relates to the loss of confidence in the freedom of the individual….”

No, the loss of confidence signals to the people that they are under attack. They may have not formally recognized that fact, but their subconscious mind is responding with unease – a human survival warning system that even the subliminals cannot silence – yet.

The answer is to start training the people, teaching them what our nation is, what their LAWFUL RESPONSIBILITIES are under our US Constitution and then making sure that they get the training needed. Yes, ignore those traitors and domestic enemies and follow the US Constitution in ALL things as required here.

“It is strong-willed and determined people who have always made this country, and any other, strong and vibrant…”

No, it is always a minority who first responds to the danger that is being employed against the people – natural or unnatural. There are always those that are better attuned then the masses of people to what is going on around them. That may be due to many things, but it is a reality.

“The constant detriment of individual rights and the endless calls to transfer power to the collective – whether inside or outside of government – is the real source of the problem that this Gallup poll reflects.”

But what I believe is that it is the signal for the informed to start showing the people HOW the US Constitution is implemented and defended LAWFULLY and under our legitimate government. If we do not implement her protections of which we are the greatest as the enforcement arm, as the Militia; and if we do not enforce HER (US Constitution) as the SUPREME LAW of our land that she is we are aiding and abetting those in the destruction of our nation – and this I believe is fact, not “just” my opinion. Constitutional lawyers, judges, etc MUST stand for her and use her aginst the the unlawful laws, as it IS in writing as to what is supreme HERE in our NATION.

James Madison: “An efficient militia is authorized and contemplated by the Constitution and REQUIRED by the spirit and safety of free government.”

Consider this as early as 1992 Casey v. Planned Parenthood, (quoting Justice Harlan) in passing described liberty as including “[freedom from] the taking of property; the freedom of speech, press, and religion; the right to keep and bear arms; the freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures; and so on”

This is a description that treats the right to keep and bear arms as an individual right equally with the other natural individual rights.

That means that once one has served time or whatever they are given they NO LONGER are LAWFULLY banned from owning, using LAWFULLY, etc arms. That was another control feature added about the 1980’s with Lewis v. United States, which summarily rejected an ex-felon’s claim of a right to possess a firearm.

Bliss v. Commonwealth: “Arms restrictions – even concealed weapons bans – are unconstitutional, since arms bearing is an individual right and the legislature may not restrict any aspect of such a right.”

Cockrum v. State: “The right of a citizen to bear arms, in lawful defense of himself or the State, is absolute. He does not derive it from the State government. It is one of the high powers delegated directly to the citizen, and is excepted out of the general powers of government. A law cannot be passed to infringe upon or impair it, because it is above the law, and independent of the lawmaking power”

These (Bliss v. Commonwealth and Cockrum v. State) and MANY others show that the judicial branch knows and are/should be enforcing the US Constitution and defending the peoples natural rights as never being authorized to be under the control of those that serve within our governments.

Those that believe in the US Constitution and serve within any governmental service MUST enforce the US Constitution FIRST and honestly. I am referring not only to LE’s, and serving military, but to those who serve within the governmental agencies also.

If the agency that one works for, whatever the position, used the authority granted ONLY to another branch and not the branch one is under in that position then that person must refuse or quit. If they do not then they are “just doing their job” and are committing TREASON against the Aemrican people and the US Constitution for which they take an Oath to SUPPORT AND DEFEND BEFORE ANY THING ELSE, orders of superiors – if any, and the duties of the position being occupied. Because basic to our way of government is the Separation of Powers and that applies to EVERY agency – state and federal and is a block of the foundation of our nation.

If we believe in, and support our legitimate government yet do not implement her in all of its requirements then it shows that she cannot be implemented and then those scum win.

WE MUST follow the US Constitution, not the regulations, laws, treaties etc that are NOT in Pursuance thereof her.

Think of this, the Framers discussed allowing US presidents to suspend laws for a temporary period, but that debate ended with 10 states to 0 against. Yet it is currently being done though it is unlawful and FORBIDDEN to those that serve within our governments (That would be “emergency powers” and “martial law” neither of which is lawful or allowed here in America).

Also consider that We the People (basically) just sit here while our elected servants (okay, put in by election fraud, but it is still our duty to hold them accountable in a lawful manner) in the House and Senate fail to provide the required and lawful check on overbearing usurpation’s of power. Consider that the Congress is over the President. How would one know that to be true? Basically the entity that can remove by impeachment is superior to the entity that can be removed by impeachment.

Remember that presidents can NOT fire those who serve within the Congress, only the people can (which also shows that the people themselves are superior to those in the legislative and judicial branches).

Who here within the USA is supposed to protect the people of each state from an overbearing general (federal) or state? We the people defend ourselves, our counties, our cities our states and our nation for when the government fails to do the job assigned, the job always goes back to us who authorized their powers; though that particular one was ALWAY ours.

WE the people have more lawful methods to bring our recalcitrant and/or corrupt servants back into line, but here it must be done in a Constitutional manner for a number of reasons. One is so that the people realize that our US Constitution does have teeth, us. So that those who are “asleep” learn the ways of lawful and true defense of our nation, our borders, our states, ourselves.

Next it shows the WORLD that the US Constitution is not just a piece of paper, but the supreme law, the contract that all who participate within our governments are under, and it IS put into writing the strongest type of contract – making it even stronger is the Oath.

The reason the other world leaders want the USA to die is to stop the people for the idea that they have natural rights, and that they CAN govern themselves.

Plus we need our military to get itself under control and stop the traitors within it, even if they are the top ranks. If you are still a US military, and not totally conscripted by the UN and now a UN military, then YOU must KEEP YOUR OATH TO “SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE US CONSTITUTION ABOVE AND BEFORE THE ORDERS OF ANY SUPERIOR AND THE DUTIES THAT YOUR POSITION REQURIES OF YOU.

LE’s, and all the rest MUST do the same.

WE need to use the Grand Jury investigations and the Grand Jury trials as our lawful constitutional tools.

WE need to get our elections, our voice, back under OUR control NOW.

Truth will win, but only if it is used. It is up to us to use the TRUTH AND THE US CONSTITUTION NOW as we are required to by our Oaths and by our heritage and the sacrifices made on our behalf.

    God Bless!
    Stay Safe All!

    Molon Labe!!

  2. Multiple lengthy books are needed to explain the multitude of problems within the USA. To reduce that to one phrase…

    Profit is their prophet.

Though the dangers are real that the end-results may be worse than what is present now I am angry enough to support Revolutionary War Two and call upon a cadre of new Founders to rebuild using the Constitution as a base after destroying the old systems that have allowed tyranny to rein.
