Everything John Taylor Gatto relates about schooling (not education) can also be correlated to the mainstream media. The function of the schools, and the function of TV programming and movies are essentially the same: to turn the masses into compliant, obedient, dumbed-down children. – Shorty Dawkins, Associate Editor

John Taylor Gatto  (born December 15, 1935) is a retired American school teacher with nearly 30 years experience in the classroom, and author of several books on education. He is an activist critical of compulsory schooling, of the perceived divide between the teen years and adulthood, and of what he characterizes as the hegemonic nature of discourse on education and the education professions.

He was named New York City Teacher of the Year in 1989, 1990, and 1991, and New York State Teacher of the Year in 1991. In 1991, he wrote a letter announcing his retirement, titled I Quit, I Think, to the op-ed pages of the Wall Street Journal, saying that he no longer wished to “hurt kids to make a living.” He then began a public speaking and writing career, and has received several awards from libertarian organizations, including the Alexis de Tocqueville Award for Excellence in Advancement of Educational Freedom in 1997.

He promotes homeschooling, and specifically unschooling. Wade A. Carpenter, associate professor of education at Berry College, has called his books “scathing” and “one-sided and hyperbolic, [but] not inaccurate” and describes himself as in agreement with Gatto.

What does the school do with the children? Gatto states the following assertions in “Dumbing Us Down”:

It makes the children confused. It presents an incoherent ensemble of information that the child needs to memorize to stay in school. Apart from the tests and trials that programming is similar to the television, it fills almost all the “free” time of children. One sees and hears something, only to forget it again.

It teaches them to accept their class affiliation.

It makes them indifferent.

It makes them emotionally dependent.

It makes them intellectually dependent.

It teaches them a kind of self-confidence that requires constant confirmation by experts (provisional self-esteem).

It makes it clear to them that they cannot hide, because they are always supervised

  1. That summarizes a very complex problem of taking away and destroying American individualism – for which we were famed – in a way that is simply understandable to the general public, to make us more “European” (controllable).

    They have been at it for a long time; James Wilson, one of the few who signed both the Declaration of Independence plus the US Constitution and a member of the first Supreme Court (also credited with founding the University of Pennsylvania Law School – though since all laws schools are progressive, that is not necessarily a good thing – and was renowned for his learning and legal brilliance said this concerning teaching philosophical principles:

    “Why should we not teach our children those principles, upon which we ourselves have thought and acted? Ought we to instil into their tender minds a theory, especially if unfounded, which is contradictory to our own practice, built on the most solid foundation? Why should we reduce them to the cruel dilemma of condemning, either those principles which they have been taught to believe, or those persons whom they have been taught to revere?”

    Thomas Jefferson recognized just how important the correct education was so that the “masses” would understand their government, the precepts behind its formation, to be well versed in historic concepts and able to recognize the dangers that signal those who would destroy our nation and our individualism. That the correct education could create a critically thinking people backed by the moral concepts Americans had which would be the basics, the foundation of our nation, our way of life.

    Thomas Jefferson:“I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves, And if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”

    Those wishing to destroy our nation, and squash the concept that people are equal and have natural rights that ALL governments are to defend and protect for the well being of the people.
    Those wishing to destroy our nation:

    Recognized that they would have to foster dependence, NOT originality and individualism.

    Had to establish “groups” that people needed to “fit into” in order to remove from them the barriers to the takeover.

    Had to foster sports that created different sides so that the people became used to being divided – which is taken up in schools at an early age, not individual sports, but the best of the group engaged within a specific sport.

    Had to create further division by fostering groups that were considered “in” or “out”, “nerds”, “jocks”, etc which was done through labels on clothing, music, items children had at different age levels that some could not afford or were not allowed to have, etc making those things of derision and shunning which further divided the people for stupid reasons instead of by fostering respect for individual insights and priorities.

    Had to create factions (parties) within the government system to further divide the people and make them more susceptible to division of the party members from each other instead of an acceptance of our way of government and different ideas from individuals (parties have “platforms” that “the masses” must get behind).

    The idea of immediate needs that had to be gratified, which were created by the companies that sell those items instead of careful and contemplative of was it really a “need” or just a “want” fostered by commercials, movies, etc.

    Think about all the ways people are divided by stupid little things and track those things/concepts back to where they started and most times one will find they are divisive methods come up with by some slime in the “psychological” field – understand I am lumping a lot within that term.

    School was used to further those things needed to destroy us from within. It is, was, one more tool being used to destroy individuality which needed to be wiped so that those who believe themselves superior to the masses rule.

    But if they were truly superior, their actions would be open, would be debatable, would be – by basis of their “superiority” over the masses – easily and openly defended, and because the ONLY way that they can stop individualism is through deception, lies, propaganda, poisons and training that weaken the thought processes, etc mean that they are not only not equal to the masses, but LESS then the masses morally, in a thinking manner, etc. If this was being done openly, with a challenge as to who was superior, those working to destroy our nation would fail – and they KNOW IT.

    They cannot create because they do not know how to do for themselves – they are supported and catered to. They have no “high ground” to lean upon and present showing that they are more reasoned and intelligent then the common man or there would be no need to “dumb down” the populace of the world so that they could rule.

    They (“elite”) are lesser, more vicious beings.

    They will lose or, because they realize that, they will take out this planet with them in retribution if we not allow them to “rule”.

    The NSA, the Military – who is constantly regulated and inserted with stuff (vaccines, drugs, treatments, etc) “for their own safety”, propaganda, etc but is really to stop them from thinking and not obeying so for the safety of those who would rule us and for their obedience even unto death when so ordered (lawful or not) – law enforcement who are also under very hard propaganda, and training to obey orders without questioning when the Oath itself requires them to question (such as “this is a need to know” basis, when ALL involved do need to know because they are LAWFULLY accountable for the actions committed, etc).

FE 2:221, Papers 2:526: “The most effectual means of preventing [the perversion of power into tyranny are] to illuminate, as far as practicable, the minds of the people at large, and more especially to give them knowledge of those facts which history exhibits, that possessed thereby of the experience of other ages and countries, they may be enabled to know ambition under all its shapes, and prompt to exert their natural powers to defeat its purposes.”

    Samuel Adams: “No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.”

Need we any other proof of their wretched management, than the excess of debts and taxes with which every nation groans, and the quarrels into which they have precipitated the world?”

    Government Tyranny in America of which it consists of (not a complete list)

    — Those who serve within our governments using the label of potential “Domestic Terrorists” in reference towards groups of American Veterans, Christians, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, Gun Owners, and “Sovereign Citizens”.

    — Laws as ridiculous as criminalizing the collection of rain water on your own property, not being able to feed or give drinks to the poor, children cannot walk or play in parks alone, etc. Add to that the deliberate destruction by hose who serve within our governments of any means for individuals to be self-sustaining or self-sufficient, including the excessive over regulation and interference of independently owned farms or ranches, no gardens to be grown, fresh (raw) milk, eggs, growing ones own meat, using heritage seeds, refuse to be vaccinated, etc all being regulated or made into crimes.

    — The formation of a totally militarized police state across the United States, and the level of extreme brutality by the police here in America being used against the people. The separation of the law enforcement from the people as being superior and having no accountability which is NOT American or Constitutional in nature.

    — Massive (no other term can describe it) unconstitutional and unalwful/Illegal surveillance and data collection operations against millions of Americans under the guise of “National Security” and “for our safety” by the NSA/ FBI / CIA and God alone knows who else in whatever other alphabet agency.

    — Obama, David Ogden, Obama”s administrative leaders and Eric Holder, the head of the Department of Justice and chief law enforcement officer of the Federal Government, the “secret court”, etc are all criminals who are blatantly guilty of Perjury, Contempt of Congress, multiple felonies, *First Degree Murder, **Treason, ***Terrorism, and many other crimes too numerous to list here, crimes that would otherwise land your average citizen in a federal prison for many years.

    — The degrees of crony capitalism and financial crimes that have been committed in recent years including the blatant rigging and manipulation of every possible financial market, which though it has all been greatly exposed and are criminal in nature, few individuals have even been charged, prosecuted or jailed.

    — The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) which is now an ARMED financial assassination squad used to destroy individuals, organizations, and corporations who have become political enemies of the State by making regulations/laws that they have no LAWFUl constitutional authorization to create, or to decide the guilt or innocence of the people they go after.

    — The last 4 (actually none of them have been lawfully US presidents as the proper and lawful process was not used, Election Fraud was perpetrated at many levels including with the judicial system itself) Presidents of the United States have shown complete and total disregard for the American Constitution and the American legislative process by many means including abusing the Executive Signing Order powers which is only to be used on those who work in Washington DC, and within federal only governmental properties, etc usurped by their offices in order to subjugate the citizens of this nation.

    — Then there is the false flag psychological operations carried out here within (and without) the USA, the outright lies conducted and perpetrated against American citizens, and/or their allies.

    — The illegal wars and foreign entanglements conducted by the American Industrial Complex.

    — The irresponsible and destructive fiscal policies that are being carried out against the US Dollar by the not federal-except-in-name “Federal Reserve”.

    — The non protection of our borders and the ignorance of the states that it is THE STATES duty, the federal government is to defend against invasion (yes, this does qualify) by using the Militias.

    — The unlawful decision of Obama to allow and create citizens of illegals which is TREASON, and for everyone injured, murdered, property destroyed it is also *** terrorism against the American people.

    — Selling arms to those terrorists who our family members, American military – okay, UN military at this time, but NOT lawfully.

  2. Cronyism is but a crony to ‘crooks’. In turn many curves, bends and intersections are layed within the highways of individual thought. Tired traveling minds are easily misguided and beguiled. It represents the corruption of the most highest trusted office within any Society or Nation. And that, being ‘Parenthood’. as, the youth represents the future of ‘Liberty’ and ‘Independence’.

  3. I was infuriated when Brad Pitt stated at the end of Killing Then Softly that, “Thomas Jefferson was just a spoiled rich boy who didn’t want to pay his taxes.” Maybe he doesn’t realize the damage he’s doing to young minds, or maybe he does.
