Open Letter of Warning to Governor Nixon From Missouri Oath Keepers

There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. – Marine General Smedley Butler – Two-time recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Governor Nixon:

The events in Ferguson have shown us daily that the looting and violence by a few is not being stopped, while the right of the people to peaceably assemble and petition government for redress of grievances is not being respected. The current riot control tactics of the local police, rooted in outmoded techniques developed in the 1950’s – and only made worse by the ongoing militarization of our police – are failing the people of Ferguson, giving them a false choice between rampant looting on the one hand, and hyper-militarized police and curfews on the other (which also fail to stop the looting, leaving the mistaken impression among many of the American people that even more militarization and curtailment of free speech and assembly is needed).  Our local boots on the ground, made up of retired police officers, military veterans, and intelligence workers (with critical input from current serving Missouri police officers) have answers that could provide the people of Ferguson the relief they need and deserve while respecting their rights.   It is time to change a losing game.

The militarized police response we saw in Ferguson did not work.  All it did was violate the rights of peaceful protesters and media, alienate the community, and make our country look even more like a police state, with big, intimidating displays of heavily armed, militarized officers, in full “battle-rattle” and backed by BearCat type armored vehicles, firing CS gas and rubber bullets into peaceful protesters and even at media personnel, while failing to stop those relative few who were actually looting, throwing Molotov cocktails, and shooting.

The police focus on peaceful protesters, with lines of policemen equipped in riot gear, in fundamentally static positions – at best, slow, plodding, on-line advances – are easily thwarted by modern looters and thugs with cell phones and team work.  Such outdated tactics fail to apprehend those actually looting and shooting.

What they do succeed in doing is alienating the local population while risking additional shooting incidents due to unsafe gun-handling.  There were multiple instances of police officers pointing M-4s and sniper rifles at unarmed, peaceful protesters, media, and local residents just going about their business, in displays of spectacularly unsafe weapons discipline and methodology.   As one of our police sniper veterans pointed out, even police snipers deployed in response to prior incidents of shots fired should have used spotting scopes to observe the crowd and search for potential threats, not their rifle scopes.

Even worse were the well-publicized incidents of officers routinely pointing M-4s at unarmed protesters at close range for no apparent reason other than to intimidate.  An officer facing an actual lethal threat should be moving to cover, not standing there in a static bunch with other officers, using the rifle as a threat display.  And a properly trained and disciplined professional keeps his rifle pointed down, where it is pointed in a safe direction but still ready to bring up on target within a second at close range, and it stays pointed down unless and until he identifies an actual lethal threat, while he uses his presence and voice, first and foremost, to control the situation – all without covering anyone with his muzzle.

Such over-the-top threatening displays, with rifles pointed-in indiscriminately at protesters and residents, only anger and frighten the people and reinforce the perception that it is “the police vs. the people” rather than the police vs. a small number of criminals, while risking the lives of the very people our police are supposed to be serving.

And much like over-the top and indiscriminate threat displays and use of force in Iraq lost the hearts and minds of the locals, so too does it lose the battle for hearts and minds here at home – assisting in the agendas of those who wish to divide us along racial lines and create an “us vs. them” mentality among both the people and the police.

The overt displays of heavily armed officers lined up to intimidate the crowds were also tactically unsound for the officers themselves, leaving them exposed in the streets.  The more skilled the opposition, the more such tactics fail.  So far, it has only been random, inaccurate, handgun fire directed at the police in Ferguson, not rifle fire.  Against rifle fire, a long line of exposed officers standing in the open would be a disaster for the police.  One active duty police sergeant told us, “I don’t want my guys stationary – they just become targets for the thugs throwing bricks and taking pot shots at us with their pistols.”  The analysts in our group take this kind of feedback from the rank-and-file very seriously, and you should too.  And, again, it doesn’t get the job done.  It doesn’t secure the arrest of those who are looting and shooting.  It leaves the officers exposed while it only punishes and threatens those who are there to protest –  those who are not looting and shooting.

Likewise for the imposition of curfews, which violate the right of the people to peaceably assemble, while also failing to stop the looters and shooters who ignore such decrees.  The First Amendment prohibits “abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances” period.  It doesn’t add on “unless a politician declares a state of emergency and imposes a curfew.”   Nor does it say “unless other people are looting and being violent, in which case all of you lose your right to peaceably assemble.”  Curfews punish the peaceable majority for the actions of a violent few, and again, alienate the community and send the message that the police see them all as the enemy and seek to trample on the rights of all of them.

The local police are capable of handling the current situation in a way that both respects the rights of the people and gets the actual criminals off the streets, but only if a paradigm shift in strategy and tactics can be made.  The leadership, starting with you, Gov. Nixon, and on down the chain of command, must make the changes that are needed to bring sane, effective, and constitutional policing to this situation.

A Constitutional and Effective Strategy

One retired Special Forces veteran in our group suggested that instead of grouping the police officers in large blocks (50 to 100 men), that  you should break up these groups into rapid reaction teams of 20 to 25 officers and disperse them, staging them in places spread around Ferguson, with a focus on the looters, not the protesters.  Our intelligence and police veterans concurred, and added that you should also task some officers to go out in street clothes to blend in to the crowds and work as Scouts, identifying threats and looters.  The plainclothes Scouts should be directing the rapid reaction teams to protect the businesses from the ongoing crime, and refocus the police assets away from unconstitutional activities like shooting CS gas at peaceful protesters and enforcing curfews, and get to the business of putting the real criminals behind bars.   If you think you need more minority officers for this role, you could easily find them in the St. Louis County Police Department, St. Charles County Sheriff Department, and other local municipal police departments.  The plainclothes officers can identify and locate the trouble-makers and their caches and resources, such as gas cans and bottles for Molotov cocktails, bricks, etc., and they can also film the trouble-makers in support of later arrests and prosecutions.

Those plainclothes Scouts can also be directly backed up by small teams of five to seven additional plainclothes officers to take down identified looters in a manner that uses minimum force along with effective surprise applied only to the actual suspected looter.  And those plainclothes small reaction teams can be further backed up by the uniformed rapid response teams, if needed, as they apprehend the looters and shooters.   If possible, each officer should have a small, discrete camera – such as a badge camera – pinned to their clothing and running at all times, so that there is a recording of all that occurs.

An additional recommendation from one of our members was that, rather than closing portions of West Florrisant Avenue and ordering protesters to disperse, officers could place cones on the street to reserve the center lane for police use only (warning that any others entering that lane will be arrested), staging officers at various points along that center lane and using it for police vehicles, while leaving traffic free to move North and South (with appropriate turn lanes interspersed), leaving the sidewalks open for protesters and media, and not trying to confine either to any particular area.  That preserves the middle lane for police to move freely back and forth along that critical two mile stretch while not restricting free speech and assembly rights.

The initial response of the Highway Patrol, to deescalate and demilitarize the situation, was on the right track.  However, it also failed to secure the arrest of the looters.  In fact, officers were explicitly told to not go after the looters.  De-escalating of militarized policing against peaceful protesters was a good idea.  But the “de-escalation” toward the looters and shooters – intentionally NOT going after them – was insane and failed to protect the people and businesses of Ferguson.  Backing off and letting the looters run free failed to solve the problem and actually made it worse, with the success of the looters drawing trouble-makers from all over the country, who came to Ferguson to loot and shoot and incite more violence.  As evidence of the failure, we now have local business owners having to hire private security to protect them from looting because the police in their community are failing to do so.

De-escalation and demilitarization must go hand-in-hand with effective policing that stops the looters and shooters.  The officers must be told that if they see an act of looting or violence, they must arrest that man.   That needs to be the policy from the beginning to the end.  Again, we recommend the use of plainclothes officers and small reaction teams to effectively arrest looters and shooters while respecting the rights of the peaceable protesters.

With hundreds of criminals stealing the businesses of Ferguson blind and damaging private property, how many arrests of actual looters took place?   The percentage is embarrassing (and arrests of otherwise peaceful protesters for “failure to disperse” or “failure to keep moving” don’t count).  The Highway Patrol’s tactics did not work, and it is time to admit it.   It was a mistake to remove St. Louis County from a command role.  Instead, Governor, you should have directed them to use their considerable assets to go after the looters while respecting the right of the people to peaceably assemble.

Likewise, bringing the National Guard in for “force protection” secured the Command Location, but what about all the other locations where people’s lives were being destroyed?  The National Guard was not the answer.  Effective, smart, focused policing was.  You did the right thing by finally pulling the National Guard back out.  Now you just need to direct the application of effective, focused policing.

We need officers focused on looters, not on bullying the media and protesters.  We need officers to put violent criminals in jail, not shoot tear gas and rubber bullets at reporters too ignorant to not shine lights in the officers’ eyes while they are trying to work.  We need a Governor smart enough to reject the riot control tactics developed before cell phones – tactics that are now failing catastrophically – and smart enough to not try to stifle free speech and violate our Bill of Rights.  We need a Governor to show enough wisdom to lead our state by the Constitution rather than against it with ineffective abuses like curfews.  Governor Nixon, tell us you are wise enough to defeat the criminals without violating our rights. No, SHOW us you are wise enough to change your failing tactics and demand from your men that they discern between peaceful protesters and looting thugs.  SHOW US, you will protect the rights of the FREE PRESS and have the courage to demand your officers arrest the real bad guys.   Stop gassing the innocent and start arresting the looters!

Wisdom and discernment will go a long way on the streets of Ferguson, and it is time you focus the police on putting real criminals behind bars, not reporters and peaceful protesters.   It is time the people of Ferguson look up and see a beautiful moon, instead of a cloud of smoke and tear gas.  Truth demands change.

A Critical Warning

In closing, we must warn you that you are making a grave mistake by continuing the pattern of militarization and abuse of rights that we saw during Occupy Wall Street (with curfews imposed on peaceful protesters, who were wrongly ordered to disperse and then pepper-sprayed at point-blank range); with the egregious death of Marine combat veteran Jose Guerena at the hands of a Tucson SWAT team while serving a mere search warrant; during the response to the Boston Bombing (with families being ordered out of their homes at gun-point, with many veterans telling us that the people of Iraq were treated with more respect and consideration than they saw in Watertown, Massachusetts); and with the recent horrendous use of “First Amendment Areas,” military trained snipers, and militarized, heavy-handed Federal law enforcement at Bundy Ranch in Bunkerville, Nevada that galvanized veterans from all across America to travel there to prevent that ranching family from being “Waco’d” (with the Washington Times later disclosing that the Obama Administration did, in fact, consider using military force against the Bundy family and their supporters, but thankfully decided not to).  Those examples only scratch the surface of a systemic problem that has been ratcheting up over the years in nearly every community in America, as Washington Post journalist Radley Balko has exhaustively documented.

The rapidly escalating militarization of America’s police is fundamentally incompatible with our Constitution and incompatible with a free nation, and inevitably leads to violence against We the People and gross violations of our rights, for which so many of our brothers have fought, bled, and died throughout this nation’s history.

For us, this is not about race.  This is about defending the Bill of Rights, which is a shield against government abuse that is meant to protect ALL Americans, of whatever color.  Those of us who served as Marine or Army infantry learned to see only one color: green.  Some of our brothers in our fire-teams and squads were dark green, while others were medium or light green, but they were all our brothers, and in combat, they all bled the same color – red – in defense of this nation and in defense of the Constitution, which each of us swore an oath to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  And the same can be said for those constitutional Sheriffs and police officers among us who still know what it means to be a peace officer, not a “law enforcer.”

The militarization of our police is not a “black problem.”  It’s an American problem, and it affects all of us.  Senator Rand Paul is right.  We must demilitarize our police.  Governor Nixon, you stand at a critical moment in history.  You must reverse course and set the example for other states to follow, to demilitarize our police and bring police methods back within the bounds of the Constitution.  A failure to do so will further place millions of us American veterans who still take our oaths seriously on a fateful collision course with a burgeoning police state that is going down the same road that other nations have traveled, with tragic ends.

Our grandfathers and fathers fought against totalitarian police states overseas.  Please don’t force us to fight against one here at home.   Demilitarize the police now, and let us all live in peace under the Constitution, with liberty, and justice, for all.

  1. so.. has the FBI, DHS, or NSA knocked on the door yet? cause this is a thinly veiled threat to them one that if initiated could cost MANY lives on both sides of the fence, and no one wants to be the one to go first or if they do they have no idea which way to go to do so.

Try to think of why we used the word “warning” after you read the article again, more carefully, and perhaps you’ll see how we really meant that word in a new light. It was not a warning given as a threat against the Governor. It was a warning to all police departments in cities, and we gave that warning to save lives and reduce the militarization costs to taxpayers everywhere.

    NOTE FROM STEWART: It is called a letter of warning because we are warning the Governor that he is making some very grave mistakes that only perpetuate the growing police state and help to speed us all faster toward the coming conflict between that police state and liberty loving people. We wish to avoid that conflict if at all possible, but the only way to avoid it is if those in government realize where they are going and reverse course. So, yes, that is a warning. Sorta like “hey buddy, I gotta warn ya, the bridge is out down that road, so you aughta stop driving that way before you go over the edge.” Except, in this case, we are all along for the ride, and we can see that the bridge is out ahead, but the “drivers” – both Republican and Democrat, are so far refusing to listen. – Stewart

  2. I have two grave concerns. First, why woulidn’t Oath Keepers endorse this plan? And, why would Oath Keepers allow a public speaker like Dan Page to address the members and not take out the trash? Embrace one or the other. Embrace and endorse this plan and be true to your oath. Or, applaud the mentally ill Dan Page and be an abomination.

  3. While watching the news coverage on tv, The first thing I noticed was how much the police looked like a bunch of red coats standing in ranks on the battle field. Talk about a target rich environment..!!!

    They might just as well had hung bullseyes on themselves. These guys would not have lasted long if there had been any reasonably trained rifle shooters in that crowd. And these guys are supposed to protect our rights…??? They will have a hard enough time protecting themselves if they continue to be that stupid.

    I am not a Veteran, my Grandfathers, Father, Uncles and Father in Law were. They are gone now which I believe is a mercy to them as they would be horrified at what is happening to the America they defended and loved so very much. As I watch our Once Great Nation fall into total chaos, into a Totalitarian/Communist State I have to wonder what will be the fate of our next generation, it saddens me to think they will never know Freedom. I am writing to you because I want to thank you, for giving this old woman hope, hope for the people and hope for the next generation of Americans.   5. It all sounded great until I got to Order #5. In fact it sounded terrific, but need I remind you, we have already fought a war to settle the issue of secession. If you love this country, surely you would not be a party to its dismemberment.

    I gave you my email address, but don’t bother me with your rational for supporting a state’s right to secede.

    [Editor’s Note: P.J. Jacobs, you may want to read over our Order #5 in our list of “Ten Orders We Will Not Obey” once again. It says nothing at all about any State seceding from the Union, now does it? You have made a leap of ignorance, my Friend. State sovereignty has nothing to do with secession. State sovereignty is laid out very nicely by the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1997 majority opinion in the Mack/Printz v USA (Bill Clinton) ruling. From Sheriff Mack’s booklet entitled “The Victory For State Sovereignty” Justice Scalia lays out the support for the Tenth Amendment. I will quote for you from pages 7 & 8 in Sheriff Mack’s booklet:

    It is incontestable that the Constitution established a system of “dual sovereignty”…. Although the States surrendered many of their powers to the new Federal Government, they retained “a residuary and inviolable sovereignty”…. Residual state sovereignty was also implicit, of course, in the Constitution’s conferral upon Congress of not all governmental powers, but only discrete, enumerated ones. Article 1, Section 8, which implication was rendered express by the Tenth Amendment’s assertion that “[t]he powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”. The Framers’ experience under the Articles of Confederation had persuaded them that using the States as the instruments of federal governance was both ineffectual and provocative of federal state conflict. The Framers rejected the concept of a central government that would act upon and through the States, and instead designed a system in which the state and federal governments would exercise concurrent authority over the people. The great innovation of this design was that our citizens would have two political capacities, one state and one federal, each protected from incursion by the other” – “a legal system unprecedented in form and design, establishing two orders of government, each with its own direct relationship, its own privity, its own set of mutual rights and obligations to the people who sustain it and are governed by it.”… The Constitution thus contemplates that a State’s government will represent and remain accountable to its own citizens. As Madison expressed it: “[T]he local or municipal authorities form distinct and independent portions of the supremacy, no more subject, within their respective spheres, to the general authority than the general authority than the general authority is subject to them, within its own sphere.” ….This separation of the two spheres is one of the Constitution’s structural protections of liberty.”

    There is a big difference in a State exercising its sovereignty and a State deciding to secede from the Union. Let me know if you have further questions, but for the time being, please know that our order #5 has nothing at all to do with secession – it deals with States Rights as provided for in the Constitution for the united States. Yes, that police officer did indeed speak at an Oath Keepers meeting in Missouri, and yes that meeting was recorded and placed online so members who were not present at that meeting could replay it. But the officer is not, nor has been, a member in Oath Keepers. Nor does he represent us or speak for us. It would be wonderful if CNN would take that much time to search for the heart of our message about the Oath and play that over and over again for their audience – but they won’t do that. You, yourself, should know better than to think that this one disgruntled officer represents Oath Keepers. He was a guest speaker on the recommendation of a radio show host, and being as he was a police officer our Missouri Oath Keepers presumed that he would make a good presentation.     They have also been acting in an unlawful manner. Just because some person who serves within the government creates a “law” or “bill” does not make it lawful here. There are many that have been created that are actually what is called “color of law” (PRETEND laws), they have no basis in the US Constitution which is the REQUIREMENT here in the USA.

    What that means is that if those fake laws, bills are enforced it makes those doing the enforcing criminals – federal or state. The Oath they take makes them PERSONALLY responsible for their actions and “just following orders” and/or “just doing their job” is not a defense here in the USA (Read up on the Nuremberg Trials for precedents. Plus look up military and judges, etc that have been prosecuted even though the order came from a superior, the Oath is their PERSONAL guarantee that they understand the US Constitution and that they will support and defend it or can be held and charged, prosecuted.

    The Bill of Rights are “forbiddens”, they forbid those who serve within our governments from doing certain things or ALLOW certain things to be done ONLY under specific listed circumstances. Examples:

    Amendment IV: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

    The ONLY way a warrant is lawful is if it is created in specific ways such as probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation has to be present. Then particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized is required or here in the USA it is criminal in action on those serving it in any other manner no matter what a person higher in the government says, be it a president or AG, etc. They are given the authority ONLY under those conditions listed.

    Amendment VI: In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.

    This flat out says that those who wrote the NDAA, Patriot Act, etc were actually committing a terrorist activity against the USA (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85 Terrorism is defined as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives”), and quite possibly treason.

    Why? Because “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed… and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense”.

    It says exactly what HAS to occur to be lawful here in America. Again, anyone who is serving within our governmental bodies that do anything except those things listed are actually committing a terrorist activity against the USA, and quite possibly treason.

    So that warning lets those who should KNOW that those things are NOT allowed here in the USA to not enforce them or be made criminals, terrorists and traitors against the USA and her people. You see, that Oath says the conditions under which they are ALLOWED to occupy the position they are in. When they break it they no longer have any lawful authority, just force (like gangs, mafias, etc).

    1 – he talks of how to “win” earthly battles, i fight for good, not for a win, i don’t care if i lose my earthly life, EVERYONE WILL infact die and God will judge each of us individually. every life and death fight is about the afterlife – not this life, but those that aren’t seeking God always fail this test, i see it every day, i see it in the overwhelming majority of humans, i try to warn them, few listen.

    2 – he is too full of pride and people just aren’t awake what a serious sin that is; study the NDE of soldier Mario Lopez, he wasn’t even overly prideful at all just a pretty regular guy/soldier, and he found out how much sin this really is to God. page’s words about some people doing combat for a living being so much more dangerous than part-timers, yeah we all saw the movie 300 with the conversation between Leonidas and the Acadian, we get it. see #1.

    3 – the illuminati have shown they live by an odd set of rules and codes, one of which is they have to make some public display of what they are going to do (false flags), often in movies, etc. Page spoke of a ferguson-like incident long before it happened; was page simply following nwo orders?

  10. I have to agree with Toby about the letter being too long and may I add, redundant. As for the tactics to bring order and peace to Ferguson. I don’t think the Governor is going to take it under advisement. Most he will do is to confer with the head of the departments who have their own ideas about crowd control. To confront peaceful protesters in military combat gear intimidates and agitates those who are already angry and should not have been used. Arresting the looters and violent protesters should have been their main objective and not pointing rifles at the peaceful marchers, hitting them with tear gas and rubber bullets served no purpose and only instilled more anger at the police. It is my understanding that there were trouble makers in the crowd who were trying to provoked the people to react with violence. It would have be wise for the police to have undercover men spotting these agitators and remove them quietly.

    Let the people assemble peacefully and have their march. It is what they do to express their anger in a peaceful manner. Those who get violent should be arrested immediately.

    I was dismayed and disappointed that we didn’t see the same response in Ferguson that we did for the Bundy’s. IMO, the protestors argument that Michel Brown was murdered by an out of control cop bent of persecution is wrong and will be proven wrong as more evidence comes out. That said, those people still have a right to assemble and the government has no right to restrict them. They way the were waving their M4’s around was dangerous and menacing.

    Who among us would not take it as a mortal threat if confronted with somebody pointing a gun at us? Those officers are lucky they didn’t encounter an honest citizen that felt in fear of his or her life and responded to their heavy handed irresponsible threat with lethal force.

    Americans need to take the blinders off. Stop speaking out for only those that support a particular viewpoint. The free exercise of speech, regardless of viewpoint, is what needs to be protected. Left vs Right. Black vs White. Rich vs Poor. These are false divisions that are perpetuated for the sake of financial and personal gain.

    All Americans should stand with the people of Ferguson or the tactics used there will come to their towns someday soon.

It is far too long, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, and preachy. Your really good ideas and key points are lost in a sea of words. Either way is irrelevant to the fact of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution besides the disclaimer Dan Page puts forth in the video that his words are his feelings and do not represent any organization he may or may not be a part of.

    And I think that’s all Oath Keepers needs to say about that subject. I certainly hope you don’t crucify the man. I understand he’s wound a little tight and his humor may be lost on some and regardless of some of his more insensitive comments I believe his hearts in the right place.

    I find it disgusting that Oath Keepers finds itself in the position to defend itself, instead of concentrating on more important matters at hand. And I know you guys have a hard enough time with the SPLC but anyone with two brain cells to rub together should be able to come here and see what Oath Keepers stands for.

    It is the main reason I came here as a non military member and signed up and pledged.     That’s pure hokum. The war between the states/war of northern aggression settled no such thing. It became an issue because the power residing in the district of criminals was used to stop the people from exercising their inherent rights and that of the states.     If states do not have the right to secede, where is the freedom and liberty in a country that supposedly espouses such? The people have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Nixon has either had a stroke or believes what he says. Inn either case, Wilson has been pre-judged by Nixon and the entire black community.     There are always opinions, but Gov Nixon , and the rest of those that serve within that state’s governmental body is REQUIRED by the position he, and they, hold to be constitutional in his, their, ACTIONS.

    The US Constitution says in Article IV: “… The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, AND THE MEMBERS OF THE SEVERAL STATE LEGISLATURES, AND ALL EXECUTIVE AND JUDICIAL OFFICERS, BOTH OF THE UNITED STATES AND OF THE SEVERAL STATES, SHALL BE BOUND BY OATH OR AFFIRMATION, TO SUPPORT THIS CONSTITUTION; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

    That means the US Constitution and all that is in Pursuance thereof it where it has jurisdiction, and the Bill of Rights is supreme.

Via John Moore of The Liberty Man investigations and boots-on-the-ground there, the media referred to him as a “gentle giant,” a “youngster who just graduated from HS and was looking forward to going to college, which couldn’t have been further from the truth. Michael Brown, who was an adult, physically and legally (although our corrupt keeps referring to him as a child), was 18, 6’4” and 300 lbs. This was a very big man; a big, tough, violent criminal.
    What’s going on in Ferguson has been vetted as being orchestrated from the White House; direct daily communication with Governor Nixon and the WH according to people on the scene, which tells me Valeria Garrett is running the show with the Marxist, and Communists while Barry plays golf; people who hate the United States. Hate Americans. Hate freedom, individual enterprise, etc.
    Promises have been made to Governor Nixon that if he carries the water concerning what’s taking place in Ferguson, as directed, that it will be his ticket to either a Federal Judgeship, appointed as Attorney General of the US, or getting on the next Democratic Presidential ticket as VP.
    This violent thug, Michael Brown, is seen on video strong arming a convenience store clerk he was robbing. Another Travon Martin case; another thug being glorified and being the shallow justification of the blacks destroying yet another community. The black and white business owners were certainly happy to see a police presence there. There seems to be one good reason why the majority of the black communities vote for Obama. It’s always someone else’s fault, never taking responsibility for their own actions.

A cop, a black cop shot him. Despite the racism we see coming from black communites and yes, many are racist, white Americans believe, the black cop shot this guy to protect his own life, just as we would do. Where are the white rioters? Where is the looting? Where are the protests? There aren’t any. Despite the fact that a black cop shop a white man, and, we are seeing racist blacks running amuck, white Americans still do not think this black cop shoots white people just because he can. Yet, the black citizens of ferguson, protest, riot, loot and burn, because a white cop who was beaten by a black thug shot and killed the thug. This nation does have a problem with racisim , that problem lies at the feet of black racists. These people fight to see to it that they can murder, rape and loot white people without cosequence, they fight to opress whites and they have worked hard to bring about a militarized police. I am really torn on this, I see a group of people who personally, I think should be given a one way ticket to the nation they think they came from, Africa, assuming Africa would accept these blights on society. They aren’t fighting for freedom, they are fighting for oppression, they are not American, being American is an idealology,one they have not embraced. The cop who shot mb,most likley did so in defense of his own life and now is living in hell. The racist gun runner holder, runs to the town of ferguson, his intent? I only saw blacks, except a restaurant employee sawing plywood for his broken windows. According to the media, the Ferguson police department is 80% white, 20% black. I saw no black in Ferguson police uniform. So the rest of the world cannot understand, why can a black be President, but not policeman in the US? It’s ridiculous and stupid that Ferguson cannot employ qualified blacks who want to work in black communities.

    As a long ago Football player I got knocked on my back too many times to count by

    The training Police receive is part of the problem. They are NOT military. They are NOT supposed to treat their fellow citizens as ENEMY COMBATANTS. Police need to understand levels of threat. Levels of appropriate violence. Restraint.

    I know what an enemy combatant is. It is NOT my fellow American. Red, yellow, black, white, brown, does not matter. We are all Americans. We have the Bill of Rights. Rights given to us by GOD. NOT government. We are human beings that have a right to life.

Pgs. 9 – 19 tell of our American land as security for a loan due in 2020. Done without Congressional approval.

    The Department of Defense has published the training manual that sets out exactly what these people of the Ferguson Police Department were doing. They were being advised by DHS, DoD and other federal agencies. The only steps that are stated in this DoD manual that they did not take were targeting and eliminating by sniper fire the leaders of the protest. I would expect this action to by utilized in the future.

    I agree that we must first let the Governor know that the tactics used are not in any way Constitutional nor will they be successful and I thank the Missouri Chapter of Oath Keepers for their participation and learned advice to Gov. Nixon which I am afraid will fall upon deaf ears and blind eyes. The Hegelian concept of Problem, Reaction, Solution and the usurpers concept of never letting a crisis go to waste is being played out before our very eyes, this was a Beta test folks. Those who have their heads out of their southern point of contact know what is going on and what will fallow in the days to come.

    Like our founding fathers, we have tried for years to express our grievances and receive just change and honorable actions from our state and federal governments to no avail. First off: The one thing every military personal should remember from their training is you are taught to be direct and to the point with no fluff. (Front lines of the battlefield) the same way as a colony of ants or bee’s: they will protect the queen at all cost causing unnecessary risk to themselves and other, knowing that should they loose the queen the colony will collapse. Thirdly: as for homosexuals in the military; older enlisted men find the majority to be somewhat feminine and emotional in nature, which is not conducive in battle for their safety and the safety of others on the battlefield.     It’s been evident to many of us from the start that Officer Darren Wilson would not be indicted for the shooting of Michael Brown. It’s also quite clear that Ferguson PD Chief Thomas Jackson’s hollow apology was an effort to appease the locals in anticipation of a refusal to indict. We all know how well that was received.

    The unrest following Jackson’s failed and incomplete apology was the signal to those in authority that the protestors were not going to go away. From that moment on, there’s been a steady escalation of antagonism, complete with a very clear instance of an agent provocateur sent in to give the pigs an excuse to bust heads — which did not work. Then on a subsequent date, pigs charged demonstrators on the sidewalk — also in a blatant attempt to incite violence.

    Shaun King’s blog paints a grim picture of what the authorities have planned for Ferguson.

    We need you. We need our veterans to come forward and stand with demonstrators on the front lines. Police violence cuts across all ethnicities and classes. And the specter of tanks and other military ordnance mobilized against American citizens in an American city clearly is something none of us wants to see.

    We are issuing a similar call to action to American clergy. We realize that the presence of military veterans, who embody love of country, valor and democracy; and the clergy, who embody high moral principles, compassion and brotherhood, may be the only thing that can stop the juggernaut of tanks and military personnel in full riot gear poised to confront the citizens of Ferguson.

    We need a phalanx of veterans and clergy to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ferguson’s citizens in a “Wall of Conscience” in support of the right of American citizens to peacefully assemble and assert their 1st Amendment rights, to stand against the alarming militarization of police operations in Ferguson and around the country.

    Imagine the potential PR nightmare! It is the threat that will maintain the peace and keep the citizenry safe.

    RESPONSE BY STEWART: And that is exactly why it is critical that we Oath Keepers show our fellow Americans a better way, like we are doing right now in Ferguson, by successfully guarding four businesses. We are showing them that they must protect themselves and each other so we are not vulnerable to manipulated crisis and incompetence (usually there is a mixture, depending on how high up the ladder you look). The reality is that it ALWAYS comes down to the locals having to defend themselves and each other. There are just not enough cops to do that during civil unrest. We saw that back in the Rodney King riots, when the Korean store owners and their families had to defend their stores, and they did so successfully. There were burned out and looted buildings all around them, but their buildings were intact. And we saw it again during Katrina, and we see it after every Hurricane, with people standing on their front lawns with shotguns and rifles in their hands, protecting their neighborhoods. That is what it takes.

    And that is ESPECIALLY what it takes when there are also power-hungry elites who seek to maximize human tragedy, crime, and chaos for their own ends. They want us to believe that there is no answer other than emergency decrees, “setting aside” our Constitution (as the Second Amendment was “set aside” during Katrina) in the name of security, and even justifying martial law if it is bad enough. Here, we see an intentional, systematic failure to protect small business owners, while the posh fat cat politicians and their expensive buildings are always, always protected. The people are made desperate, destitute, and full of fear, and then they are told “now, you must give up EVEN MORE of your rights, for your own good.” They are told that they must militarize the police even more.

    The answer is to guard yourselves, and come together as a community to mutually protect each other. That has always been the answer. That is how we counter this manipulation of crisis – by doing what the “authorities” refuse to do – secure and protect those businesses. If We the People stop the looting and arson ourselves, that kills the perceived need to set aside the Bill of Rights, and preserves the rights of both the property owners and their employees and any peaceful protesters, while also killing and defusing the push toward a race war, and it also kills any justification for further militarization of police.

    And so, we are not just sitting by as this happens. We are doing exactly what we need to do – teach the people what the Founders expected us to do in such situation. Remember, we are supposed to be the militia, the security of a free state. That is supposed to be us, the people, not the government. The Founders understood why that was necessary, and why you will not be either free nor secure until we get back to that reality and that timeless truth. We the People means just that, in all things. Not, “they the government.”

    it is funny, but sad, when I see comments on some article or forum discussion about our team in Ferguson, and someone says “they are trying to do the cops’ job, and they need to stop.” No, we are doing OUR job, as Americans, and to the degree there is a lack of security, it is due to Americans not doing their own duty as the security of a free state. Protecting ourselves and our communities has always been our “job” – our duty. Always has, always will be. The only question is will we, as a people, remember that in time, or will we leave that power vacuum to be filled with a hyper-militarized police state? The elites want us to stay home, leave it to the police, and then when the police, and even the Guard, fail to protect people and their property, they will demand even more power, and many people will be tricked and scared into giving up what little is left of our Bill of Rights.

    We, as Oath Keepers, have a duty under our oaths to lead the way. We MUST do it. And we will. And we ARE, right now in one small strip mall in Ferguson, guarding the bakery of a black woman, along with the businesses of her Asian and white neighbors, all of whom came together, united, and accepted our help. You may have heard the annoying chant “this is what democracy looks like!” Well, those united shop owners, of various races, standing together, and joined by American veterans standing guard all night, is what a Republic looks like! Now, we need to teach them and their families how to guard themselves. We will always be willing to help, but they must also become their own guardians. That is liberty. And that is what the Founders Republic really looks like. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

    He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

    He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

    He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

    He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

    He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

    He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

    He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

    He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

    He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

    He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

    He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

    He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

    He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

    For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

    For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

    For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

    For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

    For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

    For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

    For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

    For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

    For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

    He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

    He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

    He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

    He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

    He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

    In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
    Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

    We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
