Oath Keepers use a modified officer’s oath for several reasons: because veterans, even if they were once enlisted, are no longer under any orders, because civilians are not under orders, and because officers have always sworn only to defend the Constitution. Even when it comes to enlisted military, the oath is first and foremost to defend the Constitution
Oath Keepers will be staging at: Farragut Square at 17th & K Street to participate in the “United in Action” march to the Capitol. We will go in formation to Constitution Ave. where this event will begin at 11am. Stewart Rhodes will be speaking at this event.
As I grew up and went through school we learned that the Constitution was the letter of the law and that our freedoms were based upon the Declaration.

I am a US Navy Reserve Veteran and I have taken the oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Today I teach my young privates the real reason they joined and ensure they understand what the Oath means. It is amazing to see the look and the appreciation they have after they REALLY understand the Oath.

When I myself took the Oath, it also meant to disobey ANY unlawful order detrimental to the well-being of this country or its citizens; and failure to do so was ILLEGAL.

Took my first Oath March 01, 1963. USAF. Second Oath August 17,1967. USN. Third Oath May 15, 1975. National Park Service, Federal Law Enforcement. None of the three had a termination date.
