US Navy SEALs On Power Grid Attack: ‘A Carbon Copy’ Of How We Would Do It

Fragile Power Grid

This article was written by Mac Slavo and originally published at SHTFplan.com

The threat of a breakdown of our national power infrastructure has been a growing concern for the last decade. With the invention of “Super EMP” electro-magnetic pulse weapons, the possibility of Carrington-class solar flares, and the potential for cyber attackers to remotely compromise our interconnected computer systems, there may come a time in our country’s future when our entire way of life is threatened because we no longer have access to the one thing that keeps it all moving – electricity. Outgoing Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano recently suggested that such a widespread outage is imminent and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke who is a senior member of the House Homeland Security Committee concluded that the chance of a serious geo-magnetic event crippling our power grid is 100%.

The threat is real.

And as recently as last year Americans got a taste of what such an attack may look like. Though not reported at the time out of national security concerns, it was recently revealed that an entire domestic power grid sub-station came under attack in what seems to be a professionally executed assault. The attackers first cut phone lines from the sub-station and they then proceeded to fire 100 rounds from long-range at critical components such as the generators that keep the station cooling systems operational. This resulted in millions of dollars worth of damage and a reported electrical outage that spanned nearly a month.

According to officials this was a sophisticated attack likely involving the coordination of multiple individuals. And they’re not the only ones who think so.

US Navy Seals have said it is a carbon copy of how they would carry out such an operation.

According to Sky News the FBI doesn’t believe this was an act of terrorism – though stamping your own gold coins, questioning mainstream ideologies, or purchasing food in bulk do qualify as suspected terrorist operations:

The FBI says it does not believe the attack was terrorism. No one has been arrested.

There are differing opinions at government agencies about what happened. Head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Jon Wellinghoff called it “the most significant incident of domestic terrorism involving the grid that has ever occurred.”

Investigators don’t know for sure who did it or why, but it’s clear that our power grid has not been secured, despite billions of dollars being spent on the security of the homeland over the last decade.

If a few individuals with an AK-47 are capable of bringing down a sub-station and 17 massive transformers that provide power to hundreds of thousands of people, consider what would happen if a rogue terrorist organization or foreign-sponsored military teams were to target 100 key power stations that provide the electricity for tens of millions of people.

Next time they might not be bringing an AK-47. They could target sub-station components with easily obtained explosive through U.S. black markets and take down scores of transformers that switch electricity across the grid. Should those transformers be destroyed (and not just damaged as they were in this recent attack), then it could take months or years to restore conditions to 100%.

Most transformer components are manufactured overseas and production time in opportune conditions is about 18 months. If hundreds of these transformers were all of a sudden destroyed there is simply no way to bring everything back online in any reasonable amount of time.

As the threat of a power grid outage becomes ever more real, we strongly urge readers to develop a personal preparedness plan that includes long-term food supplies, water, and self defense strategies.

Preparing one second after such an event will be too late.

The news media gave them the intel they were looking for. The grid has reroute capability. Now they know they must make simultaneous attacks on multiple substations to be effective.

I would worry more as to what is planned after the power outage than the power outage itself.

Temporary concrete T walls are a quick easy fix for ballistic attacks on small isolated facilities. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremer_wall

My personal protection plan is in place and ready to protect my family and neighbors if necessary.

Kind of hard to wrap my mind around over 100,000 people powerless for an extended period of time and this is the first we here about it? Does any one know if it happened last Nov. 2013?

You mean like the ones that Obama and Holder run selling arms that were bought with OUR money and selling them to foreign and domestic terrorists, foreign and domestic drug smugglers
(Like the CIA), foreign and domestic arms dealers (Fast & Furious, Benghazi, foreign and domestic gangs, etc).

“our power grid has not been secured, despite billions of dollars being spent on the security of the homeland over the last decade.”

Of course not, these are actions by traitors, paid mercenaries, and foreign troops (already many on US soil) to be used against the American people to bring down our nation.

“If hundreds of these transformers were all of a sudden destroyed there is simply no way to bring everything back online in any reasonable amount of time.”

Sure there is, it is called “being prepared” – they should already be in stock in a safe place – if not we need to immediately find out why not. This is basic business, somethings that are critical is always kept in reserve unless they absolutely cannot be because time is the enemy of the component – destroying it. That is just an excuse, and it is a LIE.

Keep your oaths. Isn’t it PAST TIME for charges being brought and prosecutions started?

There was no power outage, as power was just re-routed through other stations. Yes, it took 27 days to repair, but only because there was no urgency as power to customers was not interrupted. Fiber optic cables are more difficult to repair, though. Power companies all over the nation stockpile transformers and other resources, so we will not be waiting for manufacturers to catch up. If the Oath Keepers wants to remain a credible and trustworthy organization, then a little fact checking would go a long ways. I don’t want Oath Keepers to be thought of as just another rumor mongering batch of loonies.

[Editor's Note: Joey, thank you. We're trying hard to sift and sort through the craziness which permeates our society today. We appreciate your help and support.

Someone fired 100 rounds from long range…with an AKM (AK47 only refers to the 4 prototypes!!)…at precision targets and disabled critical components of a power substation? Yeah, okay. If the sniping-vital-components-from-long-range part is true, then whoever it was did not use an AKM.

I don’t think it was terrorism, either. It sounds too professional and well organized for that. I firmly believe that this was a small-scale Chinese test to determine the feasibility of such an operation. They have professional special operations troops capable of such a precision strike. It’s possible it was our own government, doing it for the same reasons, but that seems a little more unlikely.

@ Justin, ” It sounds too professional and well organized for that. I firmly believe that this was a small-scale Chinese test to determine the feasibility of such an operation. ”

So do we, and they are not adverse to using our troops against us; be it a test run to see if it could be done that quickly and efficiently before being discovered, etc.

Remember that Obama invited and keeps the foreign troops here to be ready…

A person who was NOT ever a lawful PRESIDENTIAL candidate is impersonating a US POTUS AND HIS “ORDERS” OF DESTRUCTION IS BEING FOLLOWED.

The 2008 Democratic Nominating Committee (DNC) document did not include language stating that Obama was qualified to be a candidate. The 2008 Republican Nominating Committee (RNC) document did, as is normal. This shows that the DNC knew that Obama was not qualified, or why change the form?

South Bend, Indiana jury found that election fraud put BOTH President Obama and Hillary Clinton on the presidential primary ballot in Indiana in the 2008 election.

And that was not the only state where election fraud happened.

    @Joey

You clearly missed the point of the article. The query was presented of what would happen if such an attack was executed on a LARGE SCALE. Not just one power station. You can’t “reroute” power if there is nowhere to reroute to. Get it?

There is no rumor mongering in this article. They present an event which did in fact happen, which has been largely ignored by authorities, and then asked questions as to the larger implication. It would be wise for you to learn the difference, because such questions can be very important to the future…
