At West Point where cadets are groomed into officers, a new 148-page report released on January 15 is urging enlisted men and women to be on alert for “terrorists” in the form of those who consider themselves patriots.
This study, released by the United States Military Academy’s Combating Terrorism Center, is entitled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” Its author, Professor Arie Perliger, the Director of Terrorism Studies at the Combating Terrorism Center and Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Sciences at West Point, holds membership in the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, as well as being a former instructor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Considering his background, Perliger warns that growing legions of conservative-minded citizens across the U.S. pose a serious threat to our nation’s safety. Yet, whom precisely does Perliger deem as being affiliated with what he labels the “violent far right?”
In his own words, Perliger placed a bulls-eye on those who “espouse strong convictions regarding the federal government, believing it to be corrupt and tyrannical, with a natural tendency to intrude on individuals’ civil and constitutional rights.”
Even more specifically, Perliger asserted that other so-called extremists fall into the categories of anti-federalists, fundamentalist Christians, survivalists, gun-rights advocates, libertarians, pro-lifers, and those who oppose high taxation.

This is good news. Good to see the military preparing for all types of terrorist threats. Have we all forgotten that the most deadly terrorist attack in the US prior to 9/11 was the Oklahoma City Bombing by Timothy McVeigh who fits the profile Perliger writes about. “Mcveigh, a militia movement sympathizer, sought revenge against the federal government for their handling of the Waco Siege, which ended in the deaths of 76 people exactly two years prior to the bombing, as well as for the Ruby Ridge incident in 1992. McVeigh hoped to inspire a revolt against what he considered to be a tyrannical federal government. [Editor's Note: UMSTEAD, I hope that you have bothered yourself to look beyond a biased history of McVeigh's involvement in the Oklahoma City bombing - at least deeply enough to know that McVeigh did not plant the bombs in the building which blew the building out. Surely you've read General Benton K. Parton's report to the U.S. Senate which shows irrefutably that the bombs which did the bulk of the damage to that building had been placed inside the building prior to McVeigh's rental truck which was parked outside the building. These films from local Oklahoma City news stations were played live across America that day until the FBI shut them down that afternoon. They were "leaked" back to the public much later, and have been out here in the public domain for well over a dozen years. These film segments, when combined with other extremely damning evidence show conclusively that someone inside our government was working with Tim McVeigh and Nichols, and that McVeigh was just what the Honorable David Schippers has said for years - "McVeigh was a handy guy". Elias you are 100% correct brother. Thank you for standing up and speaking truth. Its hard for many to hear and accept, but it is true. I was horrified 13 yrs ago when i popped out of the matrix into the reality of whats really been going on for the last 100 yrs in this country. Its dark, its ugly and its been going on waaaaay too long. And if we “extremists” dont put an end to it and protect everyone (even the willfully ignorant) and our Constitution, our children will be either murdered or helpless slaves to this sociopathic machine of tyranny. I gotta hand it to them tho, they are brilliant in their planning, execution and cover-ups. Absolutely evil but brilliant. Hitler brilliant also.
