In Defense of the Second Amendment

Minute man 4

Sheriff Mack has posted a list of 269 Sheriffs and 8 State Sheriff’s Associations on his website, C.S.P.O.S.A.,who have vowed to stand by their oaths of office and protect the Second Amendment. This is great news. To know that so many Sheriffs are following their oaths of office is very encouraging. We at Oath Keepers salute these Oath keeping Sheriffs. We also salute any of your Deputies who are willing to keep their Oaths and stand by the Constitution and the Second Amendment. Know that you are not alone. There are many thousands, (more likely millions), who back you one hundred percent.

This attempt by gun grabbers to force us to register our arms, and to deny us semi-automatic weapons of various types, along with magazines over ten rounds, is a direct encroachment of our Natural Rights, as enshrined in the US Constitution. The government does not have the authority to deprive us of those rights. Millions of gun owners resent this attempt to deprive them of their rights.

Of particular note is Police Chief Mark Kessler, of Gilberton Borough, PA, who not only proclaimed his opposition to infringements on the Second Amendment, but has sought a Town Ordinance to that effect. That Ordinance was passed! Bravo to you, Chief Kessler. We salute you. Gun owners and Second Amendment supporters should offer their support to their Oath keeping Sheriffs and Police Departments. If you don’t know where your Sheriff or Police Dept. stands, find out. If they support the Second Amendment, and honor their Oath of Office, then take the time to show your support for them. If they are Oath breakers, let them know you do not back their action. It is no longer a time to sit on the fence. Insist they take a public stance.

On our website is posted a video of a Town Hall Meeting in Buffalo, New York, where law-abiding residents are voicing their outrage at the New York State law recently enacted, called the ‘Safe Act’, which outlaws many weapons and magazines. Many indicated they would not comply with what they considered an un-Constitutional Law. One gentleman mentioned jury nullification as one means of resistance. Another gentleman said the real criminals were in Albany, (the State Capitol).

On Sunday, January 6th, Staff Sgt. Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran, was driving through Jefferson County New York when he was randomly pulled over for a vehicle check. Haddad, who had five 30 round empty magazines in his possession, was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and charged with five felony counts. Five felony counts for possessing five empty magazines!

Across the Nation, resistance to this un-Constitutional attack on the Second Amendment is building. It is up to you to be a part of this resistance. Inaction is not going to get the New York law repealed, nor the Feinstein bill rejected. Contact your representatives and let them know this attack on the Second Amendment will not be tolerated. Talk with your Sheriffs and Police Departments. Find out where they stand. Will they support the gun grabbers, or will they honor their Oaths of Office and defend the Second Amendment? Take the Molon Labe Pledge. Talk to your neighbors. Above all else, take a stand. Remember, it is not just your future, it is the future of your children and grandchildren. Will they live in a Police State, devoid of the weapons they need to defend themselves? Will they be unarmed and in servitude. The choice is yours to make. Our forefathers made their stand at Lexington Green, and at Concord Bridge. The British Army was coming to seize their weapons. The Minutemen said, NO. What will you do?

CSPOA and Oath Keepers both need to understand how important it is to have a continuously updated website design strategy. There needs to be a strategy to catch the attention of those who usually visit the websites one time only. I think the importance of a topnotch website design strategy is often overlooked because it seems so frivolous when compared with the importance of the message behind these movements. It’s easy to underestimate the importance of a web design by thinking the message alone will sell itself. A lot of of intelligent people are still out there ready to be woken. It’s easy for good people to lie to themselves when facing such a bleak reality.

Giving updated information on fund raising, public outreach campaigns, and advice for individuals wanting to participate in these things is needed for some people to stay interested whether it should or not(and they can be a good source of funds). An interesting and interactive public side of Oath Keepers would increase involvement in the movement IMO. What I am basically saying is that the web design strategy can make a VERY significant difference in support and donations.
