Kentucky Sheriff to Obama: No Gun Control in My County

Article originally found here:

Jackson County Kentucky Sheriff Denny Peyman is making it clear that no law that violates the Constitution will be upheld in his county.

This especially applies to new gun control edicts Obama & Co. are trying to push onto the American people.

Said Peyman: “My office will not comply with any federal action which violates the United States Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore uphold.”

And far from worrying about repercussions for doing this, Peyman sees the gun control push as a sign of weakness that will crumble in the face of real opposition: “Just a few of us have to be willing to stand up to political opposition putting our people at risk. The other side will back down.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have found a patriot. And his name is Sheriff Denny Peyman.

Editor’s note: Sheriff Peyman followed up a couple of days after publishing the above. Here is the link for the second article -

On Jan. 12, he followed this up with a press conference in which he explained that a Sheriff’s powers are predominant over the powers of federal and state agents. When he says these things he drives gun-grabbers batty because he says them with the conviction that rests on knowledge, and he has no intention of backing down.

During the press conference he took time to explain his powers as sheriff:

I am responsible for the people inside this county. I am the highest elected official in this county, and this is the only opportunity the people have to speak for themselves and say ‘this is what we want.’

I can ask federal people to leave, they have to leave. I can ask state people to leave, they have to leave. …[And] it doesn’t matter what [new laws] Obama passes, the sheriff has more power than the federal people.

He said that if federal gun-grabbers don’t understand this, then “they need to go back and study it,” because Kentucky “is a commonwealth.”

Peyman says he has been approached by liberals within the gun-grabbing world since he made his original promise of no gun control in his county, and he told them plainly: “You are never going to pull guns out of Jackson County.”

Sheriff Denny Peyman represents everything good and brave about America, and about the great state of Kentucky. He is a patriot, first class.

Thank You sir! You are a true American! Remember to train your militia so that they can back you up properly if you call them! (All able-bodied citizens and thiose legally here from age 18 – 45).

Training them will help you know who you want where, and them to know exactly what YOU expect from them.

    more news for Kentucky Sheriffs:

Sheriffs in southcentral Kentucky have varied positions on President Barack Obama’s gun control proposals.

form your own opinion from these comments, i’ve noted mine before each one:

    1.) GOOD MAN:
    Simpson County Sheriff Chris Cline,

completely oppose the proposals, saying such laws would infringe on Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

Cline, a longtime member of the National Rifle Association, said he stands behind the NRA “110 percent” and opposes Obama’s plan entirely.

“It’s too much federal intervention on our Second Amendment rights,” Cline said. “I believe in the Constitution with all my heart.”

Each state should have control of its gun laws based on the needs of the residents in those states, Cline said.

“I’m against any federal intervention to the Second Amendment,” he said.

2.) FENCE SITTER waiting to see “which side wins”:
Jerry Wagner, executive director of the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association and a retired sheriff

said people should try to avoid making premature assessments regarding gun control matters, as “it’s up to lawmakers and higher courts” to determine whether the proposal will become law.

“We should hold back and take a strong look and see what materializes before we jump in and take positions,” he said.

    3.) BAD MAN:
Warren County Sheriff Jerry “Peanuts” Gaines

The intention behind Obama’s gun control proposals was to ensure people are safe, Warren County Sheriff Jerry “Peanuts” Gaines said.

“Different people will go to extremes about what the president has said,” Gaines said. “But I think he’s just trying to protect the people.”

he opposes the use of long clips typically associated with assault weapons.

Some people are bothered by guns,

    4.) GOOD MAN:
    Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whittaker

The majority of people responsible for school shootings have been people with mental problems, and that seems to be a big issue, Whittaker said.

“Banning (guns) is not going to take care of the problem,” he said.

Here was an awesome comment left after the article:

The ignorance displayed by the quote or quotes from Sheriff Gaines is amazing. Even more amazing is that the citizens of Warren County elect him over and over again. It is nice to read the Gaines is out of the closet in his support for Barack Hussein Obama. Big news flash for Sheriff Gaines….some people may be “bothered” by guns but a lot of us are more than bothered by any attempt to change the 2nd Amendment. We need a new sheriff who is less politician and more a person of integrity who will keep his or her oath to the constitution.

Sheriff, As a Hoosier and neighbor we admire your position to take this stand against what is more more clear that we have a Federal Government wanting to take more and more of our liberties away everyday. God bless you sir. I am forwarding your site to my county Sheriff and friend John Moses Tipton County Indiana
