Editor’s note: Frank Giroux is a Vietnam Veteran who was wounded in the Vietnam war and was awarded the Purple Heart. He is known to me personally and has my gratitude and respect as a brother at arms and a true American in the highest sense. Semper Fi!
And Here I Stand
We certainly live in trying times and every minute of every day requires a focus on “leadership”. The issue is, I believe, where we seek our “leadership”.
I come from a line of old war fighters…seems as though my DNA has sought absolute freedom all across Europe and the continent of America. My Father, a combat wounded WW II officer of combat engineers from North Africa, Sicily and Italy up to Monte Casino, sent me to my war in Viet Nam with the following admonishment… he said “Remember this, you will follow neither an illegal nor an immoral order and you will always remember that you answer to God for what ever you do.”
Patriots, I paid heed to my Father’s admonishment and it saved my life as well as my soul. There are consequences, and God knows that I frustrated and angered some in management along the way; both in and out of military service. I have been given both illegal and immoral orders and, some legal orders which were immoral. Always, I have remembered that I answer to God for all my actions and that whatever I do will ring forever in eternity.
My short coming has been in assuming that those with virtue would sit in seats of social responsibility and manage for the greater good. I should have read more history as a young man. I would have saved myself from years of confusion and disappointment. More importantly, I would have been more effective as a citizen. Such is altruism and youthful naivety in shaping focus in ones senior years.
Over time we have watched as those we have entrusted with the welfare of our Nation…those who have been afforded the opportunity through our service and sacrifice of time and blood…we have come to clearly see that they are undeserving and have no respect for the vision, work and sacrifice of our forbearers. We have erred in placing our trust…in assumption that well meaning men and women would respect and lead our Nation forward to the aspirations of individual liberty and justice.
Around about the evil and corrupt weave and work to subdue us who have carried the torch and kept bright the American Dream. I recall H. Ross Perot saying “every sacred and precious thing stands moment to moment on the razor’s edge and must be fought for”…and so it is and will always be.
Therefore, be it known that I, Frank W. Giroux, will never abandon my oath to my God and Country. That I hold fast to my Father’s admonishment and those of the Patriots and Heroes who taught me to be an American. I will not raise my hand against my fellow American and I will strive to vanquish all who seek to do harm to us and our Constitution. To this I pray and ask my God and Lord, Jesus Christ, to direct and sustain my fidelity, Amen.
Always in all things…Strength and Honor!
