5th Special Forces Viet Vet Weighs In

5th Special Forces Group Vietnam

Name: William Battersby Testimonial: When I took "The Oath" as a young Army officer in the 1960's to protect the USA against "all enemies both foreign and domestic" I never thought that the real danger would be the "domestic" one. I fought in Vietnam as a proud member of the 5th Special Forces Group, serving in an "A" team in the Central Highlands and also as a company commander of the Pleiku Mike Force. Now, over 40 years later, our biggest threat is our own government. Our Federal and State governments are eliminating our freedoms granted to us by the Constitution for the sake of "security" after 9/11. The TSA, the militarization of local police forces, the brain washing of our children in public schools, the unionization of all government employees, the printing of worthless dollars, the unsustainable public debt, etc. We are no longer the country of our fathers and grandfathers. I just joined "Oath Keepers" because our great republic is slipping away from us. We have to be aggressive in preserving our great Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Who is trying to take this all away? Our own government, that's who. It takes effort and pain to preserve our freedoms from the oppressors. I will do everything I can to keep America a free and sovereign country. I love the USA, and will fight to keep her free.
Please donate and support Oath Keepers mission, every little bit helps!

Note to all readers and especially to Rob, Lee, and Jim. I had a problem with the initial posting of this testimonial, and decided to re-do it today, but in making the changes necessary, I had to also delete the three comments by Rob, Lee, and Jim. My apologies!
The three comments deleted are now duplicated below in this post. Thank each of you for your patience.
Salute!

De Oppresso Liber, Bill; Welcome

William,
I didn’t think the enemy we would one day have to face and defend our country against would be our own government. Our government underestimates the true spirit and character of our fellow Militry members both current serving and vets. We are the guardians of the Constitution. We have earned that right.
I lost my uncle in WWII and my father was a WWII vet. My father has passed on, but I haven’t forgotten the sacrifices that he and millions more gave in the defense of this country. “All Gave Some, Some Gave All” for the Republic.
Our motto: NOT ON OUR WATCH.

The really sad part Bill, is the true enemy was not in Vietnam, it was here in America. They are the one’s that started it and then sent us there. Keeping a huge part of our bright, capable, young men busy, maimed, or dead. And that is the way they keep it most of the time. I don’t know about you but by the time that was over, I was scratching my head and saying “something is really wrong” and I told a lot of my friends that there was going to be a revolution HERE. That the government couldn’t continue to treat the people like they were and not have problems. I had no idea how much it would take. And it should have been taken care of THEN, when Johnson stole the social security. I would hope that scattered all across this country there are men saying “yeah ole _ _ _ _ _ _ _ told me that this was going to happen, way back in 72, at least I hope they remember me telling them. Hell I am still telling them, and never quit.
GOD bless you sir, Thank you for your service, and that of your father, I hope you still have some left in you.
I am not sure whether being young and full of piss and vinegar or being old, wise, and pissed off, is more dangerous.
But I am all out of vinegar, and I am pissed off.

Welcome William,
I took my oath as an Army Office also (although much later than you – 1980) and I also fear for this great nation. When I was in it was the Soviets, now, it is the Unions, Marxist Democrats, etc. The Constitution was developed as a “law of the land” and it is being usurped by our current regime of thugs. He is NOT a president or commander in chief, he IS a dictator in chief and doing everything he can to usurp our Constitution. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and all the others are rolling over in their graves now.
Wow, Pleiku, my uncle was near Pleiku in 1967 and had a battalion of Montagnards. I know he had a deep respect and admiration for the Montagnards and I know he felt a deep sadness after the North overran the south.
Again, welcome Sir.

In 1968 I ws full of piss and vinegar, I volunteered to join the Army and went to Vietnam. All of my Grandfathers had fought and bled to protect this country, the Greatest the would has ever seen. I swore and oath each time I re-enlisted to protect the Constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic. I never in my wildest dreams to think that someday I or my children would have to fight to restore the Constitution to its former place of prominence. But now I find that we are on the threshold of have to do just that. Now I’m a lot older and wiser that in 1968, and a lot less able to do it the young men’s way. but I can still shoot a rifle and hit what I’m shooting at every time. When I was born, I came into this world fighting and I intend to go out fighting.
We must all be vigilant in protecting our freedom and hold those, who are responsible for the loss there of, accountable They must be put on trial and executed if found guilty for treason. My forefathers are screaming from their graves at this insanity.

Welcome William,
Although I was not a Green Beret, I served with the 5th SFG in 1969/1970. I served as a radio operator at FOBs in really wierd places like Bunard, and Bazarre, (SP). I was extremely happy to be serving with the best of the best in Vietnam, and very proud of my service to them. You’ll notice that I said my service to them. That’s because I, like the vast majority of those that served in Vietnam, served one another as fellow soldiers, and we served with an honor that we can all be proud of today.
I, too, am a bit long in the tooth, and not as youg as I once was, but I will not hesitate to fight with that same honor and commitment to my fellow soldiers if called upon to do so again.
Thank you Sir,
For your service, and your dedication to your oath.

I am so honored to be a part of this effort! I am so proud of you boys and men that are STILL willing to protect the constitution of this great land. I am a woman..I’m pretty long in the tooth as well, but bye the Lord God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob I am also a nurse and an herbalist and I will fight to the death to nurse you and comfort you or may God Strike me Dead! Thank you so much for your bravery and your courage..It brings tears of sadness to think that in your older years you may well have to go to War again..and ashamed that it will have to be to protect our country and our constitution against the ones who swore to uphold it…God Bless you Everyone! I stand with you in any capacity that I am able or needed as The Lord is my witness!!
