Why I Joined the Oath Keepers

DSCN0281America is under assault. Most of us have watched this assault for years, and thought that elections were enough to beat back the rising tide of statist authoritarianism. Then Hurricane Katrina happened in 2005. We were wrong!

In response to hysterical (and mostly inaccurate) cries of widespread murder and rape throughout the city, the Governor of Louisiana sent the national guard and local police on a house-to-house search for weapons in some of the poorer areas of New Orleans. When they should have been shooting looters, they decided to go on a search for weapons instead! Law enforcement officers knocked doors down when necessary, and subdued lawful, gun-owning citizens and in some cases, even disarmed them at gun point! To make a grim scene even worse, they blockaded citizens of N.O. in the city proper by refusing to allow them to walk out of the city via the bridges, and even FORCED many to stay in the Super-dome while sewage filled the walkways. The malfeasance of FEMA was legendary as well, and would require far too much space to document in detail. FEMA exacerbated the problem.

It was a hellish, nightmarish scene of third world tyranny and local incompetence–IN AN AMERICAN CITY!!

The government-induced disaster in New Orleans jolted me. I became aware that elections alone couldn’t possibly protect our God-given rights as free citizens from those who disregard or even disdain our Constitution…our common rule book. Those National Guard soldiers and policeman who participated in these unconstitutional searches and seizures of weapons, and de facto BLOCKADE of the city, all took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. It’s the same oath I took in 1987 when I joined the Navy for a six year hitch. To wit:

“I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Far too many troops and police failed to KEEP their oath.

You may notice that the first part of the oath is defending the Constitution, and that obeying the orders of the President comes after that? This way, when the President or Governor (or any government official) directly violates the Constitution, those orders are supposed to be ignored or countermanded on the spot. I know that’s a lot to ask, and it’s one hell of a lot easier to just obey bad orders than to disobey them, but our future as a representative republic of law depends on an informed and patriotic military and law enforcement arm.

Today we are afflicted by an administration and Congress that is so far out of control in it’s lust for power that the Constitution isn’t even a speed bump to these totalitarians and their devious schemes to “fundamentally transform America.” In dozens of different ways our Constitutional, freedom-based way of life is under direct assault from within.

In the final analysis, all tyranny relies on it’s enforcement arm; the police, the national guard, and ultimately the military. That’s where the Oath Keepers come in. We seek to “reach, teach, and inspire” (thanks Mike Austell) all military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, Peace Officers, and Fire Fighters about their primary oath to the Constitution of the United States. As long as they stay true to the oath we all took, the ballot box will remain effective at beating back statist tyranny. Click on the link below and the “Declaration of Orders We Will NOT Obey!”

The battle for America is on! The soul of this great representative republic, based on the rule of law–rather than the transitory and often brutal whims of men–is under relentless assault. Will we continue this amazing experiment in self rule and human freedom? Or will our way of life be destroyed, and tyranny take it’s place?

Join us at the Oath Keepers. We have a republic to save!

Welcome, will RTI will enough to stop the destruction of our Constitution and loss of our freedoms and rights. We just had the 2010 elections and though we may have taken some of the traitors out there are still many left who were voted back in. Who are the people who voted back in the freedom haters, will they fight agains’t liberty, I say they will.

Ed I cannot tell you with 100% certainty that ‘Reach, Teach, and Inspire’ will be enough to “stop the destruction” to our way of life, but it’s IS the hand we’ve been dealt. Stewart Rhodes’ message reached my buddy Mike Austell, and he got myself and our friend Joel involved from that point. It’s the most noble method for restoring this republic. The “alternatives” are last resort if you know what I mean.

As you mentioned, our country is beset with traitors to the freedom-based way of life. I like to think of it as the American creed. And YES, they will fight against us, they will fight for the all-powerful state. Those who seek to enslave are always there, and in our country they are a clever lot indeed.

Keep the faith Ed. We have our work (RTI) cut out for us!

Although the government may, and most likely will, choose to ignore it, I believe a petition will be a good starting point.

A perfect example of how out of control our government has become is the TSA. Following an alarm by metal detectors, once the area that set off the alarm has been located and determined non threatening, a person should be allowed to continue on to their flight, however, while watching news clips showing the abuses our people are experiencing, it has become obvious to me that the TSA is going too far. Strip searches of people in plain view of the public are not only humiliating to the people being searched, it is a clear violation of their 4th amendment right. I didn’t see a single search warrant presented to the people being searched. I watched a news clip online where TSA agents made a 15 year old girl strip down to her bra and panties, and then groped her. From what I understand, this is child molestation, which is a crime punishable by prison time. I believe this girl’s father was in law enforcement.

Now back to my point. During my research I read, and I sincerely hope I read this wrong, that certain members of government may actually be immune from the motions they sign into law. Somebody please tell me I read that wrong. Therefore, a petition demanding all members of government be required to obey the laws they themselves put into place would be a excellent place to start. Additional demands I would like to see would include officials who are suspected of wrong-doing have all their privileges, whether they be banking or practicing law or working in the White House, suspended pending a formal investigation. Upon conviction, all rights and privilages revolked indefinitely with no chance of governmental pardond from their buddies. Making them accountable for their actions just as the rest of us are should be a priority for us.

As I am not familiar with the ins and outs of getting a petitions started, should any of you agree with what I have posted here want to initiate a petition, I would most certainly download a copy of it and start getting signatures.

This is an idea that has gained some real ground in the last 2 1/2 years, and it’s about damned time! Can you imagine how 3rd world it is to have “lawmakers” writing laws while exmpting themselves? That’s the nonsense that you usually see in banana republics and communist dictatorships.
Download away Brian, and I’ll be he first to sign your petition! I’m guessing everyone who reads this will also sign.

Very eloquently put, Morgan. As usual. I am proud to call you my brother in arms. Just hope it doesn’t come to that. But you know I’ve always got your back.

    Dear OKs
Here in Europe this state of affairs already exists and we are being dictated to by people who are TOTALLY EXEMPT from the law. These measures are put into place quietly and by the time the public realise, the practice is institutionalised and so embedded it would need a revolution to reverse.

Right now the European Parliament is demanding that all prisoners in the UK be given the right to vote arguing that to disenfranchise anyone is depriving them of their human rights. We’re not talking about the guy who breaks in and steals the TV and computer, or even the one who kills someone while driving drunk. These will either be let off with probation or recieve a risible sentence that won’t even reach election time. The human rights being cared for are those of rapists, murderers, paedophiles.

Weaselly politicians and power seekers know you manipulate populations the same way you eat an elephant; a bit at a time. That can work both ways! The more people who are aware of this, the better, and I suggest you get right on to that petition before it goes any further.

    Good luck Nickie
