Vietnam veteran’s thoughts
As a Vietnam veteran (combat action ribbon), I believe it is all too easy to be bamboozeled by the liberal news media. While some news outlets claim to be “conservative”, their real character is revealed when they do not examine in detail the billions and billions of taxpayer dollars wasted annually on contracts which are awarded “under the table” and the tremendous waste of taxpayer money on government agencies whose employees spend most of their time sitting on their backsides.
I also believe that the weapons being supplied to our troops in combat could be very much improved. A 5.56 is no match for an AK-47. It should not take four or five hits to bring down an enemy combatant.
The current policy of torture (and sometimes murder) of political prisoners and POW’s is wrong. This is something I might expect from Hitler’s Germany, but not from a society based upon the sacred principles of the Constitution of the United States. When we lower ourselves to the level of the fanatical enemy, we become just as debased as they are. I, for one, refuse to be a “good German.”
Please donate and support Oath Keepers mission, every little bit helps!

Welcome to OK,
I agree. I have absolutely NO use for the so-called consevative media either. As an example, Robert Murdock owns the Fox New Media and is Chairman of The Wall Steet Journal. He is a globalist of the first order, but the list goes on and on.
If we as a nation give up our principles to win the battle what will we have when it is all over?
I support the troops. Bring them home NOW.
Let those who take us to war, George Bush, Barack Obama, the US Congress, etc., enlist. Would a fellow OK please explain to me why Americans are bleeding and coming home in boxes from Iraq and Afghanistan?

Welcome! The AK vs AR debate has been beat to death. Everyone has decided what they think is best, and there is no shifting it.
If you have proof that the current administration is torturing prisoners, please provide some evidence.
Americans are injured and killed in Iraq and Afghanistan because they took an Oath. We don’t have a conscript military, anymore. We are volunteers.
Thank you, for your service.

To fellow OK:
“Specifically” why is the United States at war in the Middle East and Central Asia? I would like to have some “specific” reasons, a list. We certainly must have a lot of “good” reasons that “warrant” the sacrificing of American lives.
What does taking an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States have to do with American troops being in the Iraq and Afghanistan? Following orders is not good enough. Troops throughout the ages have taken oaths and followed orders: the Romans, the Germans, the Japanese, the Russians, etc.

I don’t know how to be more specific. If you don’t volunteer, and take the Oath, you don’t get shipped to a war zone. Simple. Don’t want to go? Don’t sign up.
Unless you got drafted against your will, or signed up for college money thinking to game the system, I don’t see what your problem is. The President says Afghanistan is the ‘good’ war, so we follow orders. That is not unconstitutional, regardless of my personal views against that conflict.
Oath Keepers is not an organization to disrupt the military. Our purpose is to enlighten the troops with regard to their Oath, so that they will recognize and refuse to obey unconstitutional orders. If you are looking for us to be an organization to be against a current war, forget it. Try IVAW. They would be happy to have you.

In reply to the above posts by CorbinKale, I will say this: The ACLU has page after page on the Internet of documented deaths of “political detainees” due to homicide; specifically, “Cause of death=homicide. Died after interrogation by CIA.” I’m not going to do the research for you.I have strong views against murder and torture. They are not only unconstitutional; they are evil and immoral. I believe in the Constitution of the United States, but those who would defend their country by means of murder in the night are not patriots, they are murderers cloaking themselves in the American flag.
I have never commented on either the war in Iraq nor the war in Afghanistan. Personally, I don’t know or care what your position on either war is. You need to get a life! I spent about half of my adult life serving my country and I do not need political science lectures from anyone, in particular someone as ill-informed as you!

These are additional comments in regard to the above remarks of CorbinKale.
I believe Mr. Kale and I share the same basic beliefs. Like Mr. Kale, I will never submit to the unconstitutional confiscation of weapons. I view him as a comrade, and apologize for my earlier outburst above.
However, I must stand by my remarks in regard to the torture and murder of political detainees. It HAS happened, not once but time and time again.
We must present a united front against ALL violations of the Constitution. We must never allow ourselves to be used as political pawns.
So I say to you, Comrade Kale, let us hang together or surely, we shall all be hanged separately.
