I am proud to be a true patriot of the American spirit
I have long thought about what my sworn oath to protect the Constitution of the United States of America means to me. As a veteran U.S. Army Paratrooper who served in Operation Enduring Freedom, now a father and husband, I have spent countless hours watching news reels and reading about political events unfolding all around us, and my own faith in my country has been called into question more than once. In the end, this simple chain of thought saved me from the darkness…
What is a Nation, if not its people? A continent can exist without a single inhabitant, as can a mountain, a valley, a hill, a river, a lake, an ocean. Whole landscapes may be born and die without ever having seen a single human footprint, but they will not have been nations. A Nation, in the end, is an ideological and physical representation of the people who call that land home. Each of the sovereign United States would not be a state without its constituents. Without men and women to work, defend, nurture, and claim that land, our states would be nothing more than parcels of dirt and tree. Likewise, our powerful government could not exist without the willful governed.
I swore an Oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, and have since refined that Oath. My loyalties, my truest kinship, lies with the good men and women of my country who want only to live in liberty and pursue their happiness. Even a document as sacred and hallowed as our Constitution can be distorted and twisted by a politician’s silver tongue, but our brotherly faith and love can never be turned against us.
The day that the military and police are called upon to quell the American People will be the same day that the American People stand together for change, to exercise their divine and sovereign right to direct their elected government. Whether the steps taken to disarm, weaken, and conquer the American people are slow and subtle or quick and brash, I will in no way render my services to the wielders of Tyranny and Oppression, but will instead stand proudly alongside my brother and sister Americans as they struggle to retain their liberty, their sovereignty, and their inalienable rights.
I am proud to be a true patriot of the American spirit, and will always protect those who harbor truth, justice, honor, duty, and loyalty to a righteous cause in their hearts.
