I wondered where in the world the Patriot Movement was.

Dear Oath Keepers,

firefighterI was trained as a wild land firefighter. But I’m a freelance writer and editor, and a political “Green.” I’m also a gun owner, a believer in local government, supporter of local businesses and unsubsidized local organic growers, local media, and local ownership of energy.

I just want to say that I appreciate what you appear to be doing. When George W. Bush was dismantling our 4th Amendment rights, was wiretapping citizens, denying our right to habeas corpus, was detaining citizens without due process, was corralling protesters into “free speech zones,” was demanding people sign loyalty oaths in public town halls, was ushering us into imperialist wars based on lies, was suppressing independent inquiry into 9/11, I wondered where in the world the Patriot Movement was. All those militia folks who yelled about “rights” during the Clinton era, where did they go?

I am glad to hear that once a Black Democrat is out of office, you will continue your mission to safeguard the rights of US citizens, and that you will be no less likely to invade Vermont or California if they secede, than you will Texas. I am glad that your criticisms of executive over-reach don’t change with the party in power.

You have more in common with liberals than you think. We all have a problem with an over-reaching executive, regardless of party. We all have a problem with a cowardly corporate media, and centralized control, whether it is governmental or corporate (or some cronyistic hybrid).

Standing with you,

JD in California

    Welcome to Oath Keepers.

    I agree with your sentiments.

I am a Constitutionalist who left the Republican Party in 2000, years too late. I am now an independent who voted for Patrick Buchanan in 2000 and Chuck Baldwin in 2004 (Vice-President) and 2008. (I would have voted for Ron Paul in 2008 if he had run.) The Republican and Democrat Parties are taking (have taken) us under. Like Pat Buchanan says: “One Party, Two Wings.” I believe that George Bush was the worst President in American history. But it appears that Barack Obama might prove me wrong. President Obama
has it easy though, since George Bush set everything into motion. Bush steered the Titanic into the iceberg. All Barack has to do is to make sure that the life boats are not launched.

I believe in zero trade deficits, tariffs (just like those on Mount Rushmore did), zero immigration (legal and illegal), zero H-1B Visas, no foreign entanglements as George Washington advised, no dual citizenship, absolutely no loyalty of ANY sort to any foreign government, people, or country, that the federal government has completely overstepped its authority as granted to it by the US Constitution, et.cetera. I believe in supporting the American troops: bring them home.

My tribe is composed of those American citizens that have total loyalty to the US Constitution and to America. I am an AMERICAN, not a European American, since my ancestors LEFT Europe.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but there is one issue with which I must completely disagree with you on. When I went through basic training, we were taught some of the history of the US Army, in particular we were taught how an immigrant Prussian brought discipline and effective training to the Continental Army. Through my own studies of history, I have discovered that at times the Army which served under General Washington was as much as 1/3 Irish immigrants. National Geographic channel had a program on a few months ago, about a Special Forces unit in Afganistan. Late one night, during filming, the unit got hit by an IED. Two men died… one of whom was an immigrant, from the middle east. There is no draft, so he didn’t have to be in that uniform. He died serving his new, adoptive country, the United States of America.

I agree with your definition of your tribe. I feel the very same way. Regarding George W. Bush being the worst president ever….come on now….Jimmy Carter was inept….LBJ kept us in a war he had no intention of winning….FDR trampled the Consitution…..and the list goes on. Besides, Barack Hussein Obama trumps all of them in just over one year.

I will only say that your comment about George W Bush, I believe to be incorrect. In fact, there are 3 Branches of the United States Government and they all work together. And THEY ALL fail together!!! No one was complaining that we didn’t get attacked again under Bush. But when the Dems regained the house and Senate in 07, how he kept us safe was suddenly being told to the MSM and NOW is all about Bush being a bad President. Well, I have to agree with G W James above. All the Presidents named in his comment were by far worse, than Bush ever could have been. However, one inporatant one not mentioned was JFK. Does everyone forget “Bay of Pigs”? The Cubans haven’t!!

Regarding these statements in my comment in no. 1 above:
We all have our opinions, and I well know that many, if not most, Americans will disagree with me. Prior to the 2000 elections I voted “100%” of the time for the Republican Party in “all” elections except for one for a local office. I certainly can’t be considered historically biased against Republicans. And anyone who knows me would never accuse me of being “liberal” in my thinking, whatever the word means.

What one thinks about the record of President George Walker Bush should be based upon his record, what he did or did not do for our country.
Without getting into “numerous” other specifics that are not what Oath Keepers is about I will give you three examples: the signing of The Patriot Act(Great name! Aren’t words wonderful?), and the nullification of the Posse Comitatus Act, along with gun confiscation in New Orleans.

I believe that the Presidency of George Walker Bush is history and that the focus should be on the present US President, Congress, Supreme Court, and state and local office holders. Maybe my comment regarding George Bush should never been posted on this board.

Welcome to the OK. It’s good to have another liberalish member who places the Constitution before political leanings. Secure the Constitution that protects us all and then we can all be free to disagree in our politics peacefully. That’s what it’s all about.

    anonymous Says:

Great to have you here and to fight the perception that the OK is all “right wing nuts.” I share your posted view and also put GW at the lowest of the low, while I recognize that not much has changed since. I won’t argue the point of who is the worst, but will say welcome as a liberal and thanks for standing up to the disease that has infected our Republican regardless of political party.

In a democracy we can’t keep our nation strong unless we are educated as a people. That goes beyond political party or personality and centers on our document…the Constitution. Let all in government service be judged by its content.

Glad to have you among us!
