Freedom will not slide silently into the night
Just under two years ago I raised my hand for the first time and swore the defend the Constitution and this great nation.
I had long loved the ideals of that great document and I have never been prouder than that moment. Yet, I have long had deep fears about the direction of the country and concerns that the Constitution might be stricken to the annals of history. I was ashamed that I would hear fellow service members describe themselves as ‘mercenaries’ and dismiss the Bill of Rights, our Declaration and Constitution as relics; and show no allegiance to the people of this great country.
However, I do not lose hope. The American people should know, that in the time of crises, that there are those, keepers of their Oath to the Constitution and the Flag of the people, who will not turn against them. Who will say no to any attempt to disarm and imprison them.
I will lock arms with any patriot and stand proudly beside them and the concept of classical liberal democracy that our Forefather’s laid down. Freedom will not slide silently into the night, or be spirited away with applause. Freedom, Liberty and Justice for all. I am no longer afraid.
I call on all my shipmates, my comrades in arms, to say the same. To continue ensuring that this nation is the bastion of freedom and liberty, and that it never falls into the abyss of despotism.
Very respectfully,
IS3 M
