I will not break my Oath
I remember standing in the MEPS station in downtown Detroit, raising my right hand like 50 or so others in the room with me. We repeated the words in unison as we were sworn into the Army. I could hear myself saying the words and I remember it clearly. It was Feb. 3rd, 1983 and I was nervous. I was some young kid and at that time taking the Oath seemed just a part of the process.
I had taken the Oath several times since but each time it seemed to take on a deeper meaning. I learned that Oath I took was a promise and not just words in a process. It’s a promise you swear to never break.
Since 9/11 I have watched members of congress like Murtha, Daschle, Reid, Clinton, etc. habitually undermine the institutions of this nation and violate their Oaths. I began to ask; didn’t they also take the same Oath I did? Why are they breaking that Oath? Why are many still breaking that promise today?
I think I’ve found the answer to those troubling questions here at Oath Keepers. Some will break their promise and violate their Oath because it means nothing to them. They simply have no honor. They have no faith in the ideals that were a part of this nation’s founding.
Members of this organization however, fully understand the meaning of honor and devotion to something bigger than themselves. We know what it means to serve in the name of FREEDOM. I’ve been a police officer for twenty some years now. My Oath is my word. It is my promise to protect Liberty and the freedoms guaranteed in our Constitution.
I will not break my Oath.

Wonderful, Wonderful Idea and Ideals. There is a reason why, in this Great Country of ours, we see..THE TEA PARTIES…THE 9-12 ORGANIZATIONS..THE APPLESEED GROUPS…..Concealed weapons permits on the rise…A renewed Interest in how our Government is operating Vs. How it should operate. Our Republicans and Democrates alike have “sold us down the river” for Power (mainly) and Profits(no doubt). Political Correctness is going to destroy what it means to be an “AMERICAN”.There is a growing Minority..that do not like the AMERICA as it has developed. Both inside and outside our Country.

Beautifully said, James. I must recommend this site to my brother, who was a Marine in Viet Nam. I talked to him a few weeks ago about the current state of affairs in this nation, and this old Marine, tough as nails, actually WEPT because of what he sees happening to this country. But he stated that he strongly believes that, if it EVER came down to it, his brothers in arms would NEVER turn against their fellow countrymen, because they’re sworn to protect the Constitution, NOT the government, from enemies without AND within. It gave me new hope. Thank you for serving your country in many different capacities. Keep fighting the good fight. There are many out here who believe as you do.
