We are all red blooded Americans!
As a child, I remember talking with my Great-grandmother about our ancestry, as I found out that I was part Russian, German, and English and was confused. Seeing the confusion on my face, she looked at me with those sweet wise eyes and said, “You are a red blooded American boy”! That made me feel proud and I never forgot it.
White, Black, Red or Yellow, regardless of gender, politics, or ancestry, we are all red blooded Americans!
In elementary school, we always started the morning off with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands…and I remember feelings of connectedness, unity and gratitude for being an American. I felt a part of something special, safe knowing I wasn’t alone, and cognizant of my freedoms.
Today, after retiring from the Armed Forces, I no longer recognize the country of my youth. We’ve forgotten what it is to be a Republic. We ask “What can our country do for us, not what we can do for our country.” Wisdom such as “United we stand, divided we fall” falls upon deaf ears. Incarcerated criminals must be accommodated with a greater standard of living than the war fighter on the battlefield. Remember, we got here in spite of what political party was in office.
Protect the Constitution. Know and understand its enemies. Cease being out flanked by the strategy of conquering and dividing by political party, ancestry, economic class or by terroristic threatening; For these are the true weapons of mass destruction that spreads fear, inflicts insecurity, sabotages freedom and assimilates control.
I served in Desert Storm and in the Global War on Terror. My stepson was killed in action on, 16 Jan 08, in Balad, Iraq while serving with the 101st Airborne Division. My Marine Grandfather was killed in action in WWII and his brother, still living, survived the Battle of the Bulge.
I pledge that their last full measure of devotion will not be in vain! May God have mercy upon us all and heal our land of the free and home of the brave.
