Everytime I took the Oath it has meant more to me
My family, though quakers, were patriots. Often choosing to serve in non combatant rolls. By my generation the Quaker ran thin, but the patriotism never did. I joined the US Army as a college graduate, choosing to be enlisted because I felt I was more useful “dealing with troops than I ever would be dealing with administration and bureaucracy”. Some of those opinions have changed, some haven’t.
I am a female, one of the first classes of which to be allowed in Patriot missile Battalions. I went to Desert Shield, Desert Storm and “Operation Provide Comfort”. I was in a Battalion S2 shop. Intel and Security. I have several funny, and several horrific stories of those days. I was given the distinct honor of being in the unit that defended Israel.
From there I was injured and spent near 8 months in Lahndstuhl Army regional Hospital in Germany. Once I was functioning again, and being discharged from the military, I begged my commander to at least leave me on Individual Ready Reserve status. Which he did, which in turn allowed me to then join the National Guard. Full time. My time in service (total) was 9 years.
I have taken my oath 4 times in total, five if you count for the oath keepers. And every time I have taken it it has meant more to me.
Long before I knew of the oath keepers, I knew there were orders I would not obey. Ever.
Now I know there are people that will stand by me while I do it.
Thank you.

Welcome to the group young lady. This post caught me by surprise as I served with the 32 ADCOM (Hawk missiles) 69/71. Thank you for your years of service to our country. God bless
