The day I took my oath of enlistment was one of the proudest days of my life

ArmyLogoMy name is Michael David Cawyer, and I was an asst. BIDS Team Leader (Corporal/ 74D-L4 {BIDS Operator [MOS]) in the US Army. On April 2nd 2002, I swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. I served with the 304th Chemical Company (Dual Purpose {Smoke and Decon} and with the 332nd BIDS (Biological Integrated Detection Systems {Recon} until June 5th 2005 when I was medically discharged for a lower back injury.

Aside from the day I got married, the day I took my oath of enlistment was one of the proudest days of my life. I come from a long line of military servicemen, dating all the way back to the Civil War on my mother’s side of my family. My father, who served in Vietnam told me the day I took my oath that “it has no expiration date”. I whole heartedly believe this. Military Service is one of the most important things a man can do. It is an honor to be allowed to take the oath of enlistment.

Everyday I pray for my fellow servicemen (and women). I pray that you stay true to your oath, your beliefs, an to your country. I pray for your safe and swift return from harms way as well. I also pray that those serving overseas get to come home to the SAME COUNTRY THEY LEFT, and certain people are making that difficult.

I know in my heart that I will always protect the Constitution no matter what may happen to me because of doing so. I ask that those of you who have also taken the oath to please do the same.

You may be called upon to disregard the things you believe in and hold dear. DO NOT BACK DOWN. YOUR BELIEF THAT THE CONSTITUTION IS IN PLACE TO PUT A LEASH ON THE GOVT, AND NOT TO GRANT THE “PEOPLE” THEIR “RIGHTS” IS A VITAL TOOL IN OUR “TOOL BOX”.

When/If the day comes that you are ordered to do anything unconstitutional for the people, or because it will make the children safer; I beg you to do what is right. America will need US to stand together and rid our nation of tyranny back once again.

God Bless the United States of America,

Michael Cawyer 3/29/2010

Thank you Michael for the service of you and your family. You are what made and keeps America great. Before I joined OK’s I did now realize that there were such a vast number of Americans who work, defend, and raise like minded families that will insure that America will not only rise above the current bumps in the road, but will bring good out it and I pray made stronger and more determined than ever that America will not perish but continue being the leader of the Free World. God Bless you and God Bless America!
