The oath meant much more to me upon taking it than hearing about it as a boy

us_navy_logoEvery man in my family has served in our military since the start and has continued to do so to date.  As a young boy I knew, and couldn’t wait, to take my oath and serve my country.  I was taught, even before doing so, what the oath meant in it’s entirety.  I joined the Navy once I became old enough to take my oath and do my part.  The oath meant much more to me upon taking it than hearing about it as a boy.  The oath doesn’t stop when your active duty has expired, you raised your hand and swore with no time line or expiration date.  I am just as firm in my oath now as I was when I swore myself to God and country.  It pains me greatly to see elected officials and service men/women who have all swore to defend the Constitution, act as tho they were just words with no concrete meaning.

I pray that the time will not come that force against our own government is needed outside of the ballot box.  I cannot help but feel the freedoms that so many of us that have fought, are fighting and have died for, slip away.  Is our President and elected officials so above seeing past their own means as to forget those that made this country what it is and gave them the power that they have?  They were given the power to serve the people, not themselves.

I am very happy to come across this website and no longer feel alone.  I am eager to help in any way I can. Thanks to all my fellow brothers and sisters of our military!

People should not fear their government, their government should fear their people.
