I lived the Oath through stories from my Grand-father
I took the Oath in September 1964, but lived the Oath through stories from my Grand-father who served in the Infantry on the Western Front during WW-1, through stories from my father who served in WW-11 in the 101st AB with a jump into France on D-day and another into Belgium where he was shot down and held as a P.O.W. for 2 years, and through my brother with the 82nd AB Division. I grew up knowing God, Country and Family and my Oath still holds as strong today as it did in 1964.
Not on my Watch!
I can only hope to be as brave as my grandfather, father and brother, if called upon I shall uphold that Oath…

Sir, as a former member of the 101st Airborne,I salute you. Your story is remarkably similar to my own. My dad fought during the Bulge and his brother was killed during the Normandy Landing. Sadly, I never got to meet that brother, my uncle. But when duty called I was glad to respond and did my best in Vietnam. I’m proud to have served with the Screaming Eagles even though we weren’t always appreciated by our own people here. Such is the way of those who seek only the advantages of FREEDOM without making any contribution.
Again, thank you for your service.
