Library Trustee: “I Will Keep My Oath”
The last sentence of the Declaration of Independence reads:
And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
As we all know, the oath is to the Constitution.
Officers in the Armed Forces DO NOT swear to support the President – just the Constitution. The very same oath applies to elected officials and law enforcement officers.
37 years ago I took the oath as an enlisted man in the service of the Nation.
I have taken the oath 3 more times as an elected Library Trustee. The president was not mentioned.
I’m also an assistant Scoutmaster for the local Boy Scout Troop. One of the First Class requirements is:
5) Visit and discuss with a selected individual approved by your leader (elected official, judge, attorney, civil servant, principal, teacher) your constitutional rights and obligations as a U.S. citizen.
I explain to them that we do not live in a democracy but rather a Constitutional Republic. Sadly, I have spoken with “educated” individuals, who don’t know this…
I will keep my oath…
Please donate and support Oath Keepers mission, every little bit helps!

Thank you for your service, and what you are teaching the youngsters. Patriotism is something
that most kids aren’t taught in school anymore. I myself am fortunate as I have many family members who are now Military, or were military. It’s gone now but when I was a kid in High School all the guys had to take Junior ROTC for three years. Now My son and son in-law are career Naval Aviators and we visit them at least once a year and are friends now with many of their friends who are also career military.God Bless you and God
Bless America!
