I reminded myself on the oath I had sworn years ago

MichaelAlauxRecently I reminded myself on the oath I had sworn years ago, an oath my father swore before he died at Okinawa fighting the Japanese Empire, the oath my brothers and I swore before our service in Vietnam and Germany, and the oath my nephew has sworn on his way to Afghanistan this year. I come from a family whose ancestors fled religious intolerance to establish New England, who fled political oppression in Ireland to build their homes in western Virginia and who fled the poverty and hopelessness of the central mountains of France to find opportunity and success in California.  Never did I expect that I would experience those unacceptable conditions being reestablished for my grandchildren. Our constitutional Republic is unique in the history of the world and I will not acquiesce in its destruction by some self-anointed elite.  I am Michael Alaux, once Captain, 1st Infantry Division, recipient of 4 Bronze Stars, and now an oath keeper, a guardian of the Republic!

    Michael,

The story of your ancestry puts so succinctly where “we” came from, what we endured, what we once had, and can have again. Thanks for your service and sacrifice, and thank you for standing tall once more for the Republic. I am honored.

Michael – I am your brother and just read your statement. I have always been proud of you as a brother and as a fellow veteran. You served so that others wouldn’t have to. Two tours back to back in Veitnam so that I would remain in Germany. That is how I see it. You are a hero and make me proud to be an American and your bvrother.
