The words ”to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,’’shook me to my core

Navy logoIt was the Fall of 1968,in Albany N.Y., prior to my entry into Great Lakes Naval boot camp. When I took my Oath to defend the Constitution, the words ”to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,’’shook me to my core. Although not fully understanding what the words meant, I instinctively knew that those few words would have a personal impact on me in the not to distant future. Fast forward 42 years later I fully comprehend. Dark clouds are beginning to gather over this Great Country and it’s People. It’s time to stand together or we will surely hang separately.

Join the club. Most of us thought we would just live out our lives, play with our grandchildren, and be buried somewhere without ever having to really confront something like this. It was an “idea”, a “theory”, a “notion” that was a consideration and worry to our founding fathers but nothing we would actually have to confront in our lifetimes. It appears these bastards are playing for real and ARE trying to fundamentally change this country into something our forefathers tried to prevent. It appears, for all intents and purposes, that it might be time for those of us that wanted nothing more than to live in the greatest country on earth to do something. Hopefully “doing something” means that we as soldiers and peace officers make it clear to those in power that we’re not going to allow whatever they have in mind to happen and they re-consider their options. Hopefully they realize that there are thousands of us out there. Hopefully they realize that America is different, there is a different spirit here, and they’ll stop what they’re doing. We’re not a Banana Republic where the government can disarm the people and impose its will without a fight or incur some opposition. This is America. Any son of a bitch that thinks Americans will capitulate and succumb to a Government authority and think that soldiers and police officers will help them is absolutey crazy. Any son of a bitch that thinks the best trained soldiers and police officers the world has ever known who spend their entire lives defending the rights of our citizens will stop doing so, especially after taking an oath to do just that is sadly mistaken. Ain’t gonna happen. Just the thought of it pisses us off and stiffens our resolve for a fight. We’ll never let it happen and they should be aware of that.

Too bad the politicians don’t take it that seriously.

In 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down & everyone was rejoicing, my mother (a high-school dropout, waitress and single mother of seven) said to me “This is NOT GOOD – that wall was up for a reason, if it’s not containing something, it’s spreading it.” I can only assume since the European Union was formed shortly thereafter, she was speaking about the spread of Socialism/Communism. How is it then, that a 60-something HS dropout could forsee the spread of Socio-Economic chaos? The answer is simple — she was a keen observer of History. You don’t need a formal education for that — just eyeballs. We had better all wake up our neighbors. A united Europe is the greatest threat to the United States. If we are unable to fight the enemy within, we demonstrate to the world that we are ripe for the picking.
