Happy New Year, And Brace Yourselves for “Interesting Times”
Happy New Year everyone! I expect 2010 will be an “interesting” year, as in the ancient Chinese curse, “may you live in interesting times.” By the way, according to wikipedia, that was merely the first of three curses of increasing severity, the other two being:
-
- May you come to the attention of those in authority (sometimes rendered May the government be aware of you) [see how some things never change?]
- May you find what you are looking for
My fellow Oath Keepers, now that we have spent time with our families, giving thanks for all we have and enjoying the peace of Christmas, it is time to ramp it up and take this baby to the next level. Time is short, and we have lots to do.
To be blunt, our nation is now on the verge of an economic Armageddon and we should prepare for the worst, while hoping we don’t follow in the footsteps of other nations in history that have stood at the edge of the same cliff we now teeter on. Problem is, the so-called “leaders” in DC, and the whole gaggle of hubris filled political/legal/media/banking elites in this nation think they can create their own reality, and arrogantly thumb their noses at the many economists who are waving their arms, trying to warn them about the simple laws of economics that are as inescapable as the laws of physics.
Refusing to listen, the elites seem hell bent on going right over the edge, dragging us along kicking and screaming.
Thanks for being onboard and for all your hard work so far. Now, let us renew our pledge of our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor in the glorious cause of liberty. Let us roll up are sleeves yet again and resolve to do all we can to save this Republic. Dig in your heals, and PULL!
However, come what may:
Tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito
“Do not give in to evil but proceed ever more boldly against it”
And let us do so “to the utmost extent of our power” as the motto of my old Army unit put it (Company E (LRSC), 60th Infantry, 109th Military Intelligence Battalion, 9th Infantry Division)
“To the Utmost Extent of Our Power”
For Liberty, the Constitution, and the Republic, and for our children’s freedom and future,
Stewart Rhodes
Founder and National President of Oath Keepers

You are so right! We need a whole new group of patriots in our national and state governments, and I believe there are plenty in the rank and file across this great country. We need to educate and reach out to everyone. Our message is powerful, it must be heard over and over and over. Proud to be a new member. Paul Reese, TN

Stewart, thanks for your New Year’s message. I was just thinking this morning that a New Year’s resolution we should all make is to know where you stand, and just as importantly, to challenge our fellow citizens (especially service members and law enforcement) to do the same. The time to decide will not be when an unlawful or unconstitutional order has been issued and is being carried out by others. Thanks to Oath Keepers for getting that message out.

Hoohah Mr. Rutledge! Drive on.
Paul, you are absolutely correct, and over the weekend I will be posting a great deal of material on that very subject of replacing oath breaking public servants with oath keeping constitutionalists. It is necessary to start at the very bottom, at the town and county level, and work our way up, and at the same time strengthening our communities to handle come what may, while also making sure our public guardians understand the oath and the Constitution (including their state constitution). I believe those efforts are mutually supporting and synergistic, and thus there will be no wasted effort.
Sir, well said. And thank you for your examples of sound New Years Resolutions. A fundamental one, indeed, is to simply know where you stand. I will use your suggestions to kick off a posted list of resolutions that others can add to. You are spot on that the time to make decisions is ahead of time, rather than in the heat of the moment.
I have also been thinking of some strategies for active duty to use to educate their peers, aside from sending them here. We will be launching an online “Oath Keepers University” section on this site, but we will also include some recommended reading and viewing that is not overtly Oath Keepers materials, so that active duty can simply educate their fellow commissioned officers or NCO’s without overtly saying “hey, look at this Oath Keepers materials.” There are times and places where that may be preferred, and nothing is as convincing as original source material (such as handing them a copy of the Kentucky Resolves, or a copy of the Federalist Papers with some tabbed sections pointing to key passages).
While I will not wear rose colored glasses or sugar-coat where we are, I am nonetheless tremendously excited about what I KNOW we will achieve this coming year, and indeed, within the next six months alone. I expect it to be a paradigm shifting affect, so long as we pour our efforts into it in a way worthy of all who came before us. Let us meet the challenge with the joy of battle in a just cause.

Thank you for the post. I am a former female police officer. I swore the oath and will keep it.
Now..what can an arthritic 59 year old woman do to get herself ready for what is to come?
Got anyone who could help me? Someone I can trust?

Thanks for the message and leadership Stewart. America is certainly at a tipping point in 2010. Patriots everywhere need to add their weight to the scales on the side of liberty and freedom. The time for keeping your head down and ducking the issues has past. Stand Up. 2010 is the time for an epiphany. We can make our representives from the town hall to Washington D.C.understand we are in control. Don’t give up. Don’t give in.Truth will win in the end.

History will show that the ideals of the American spirit, the divine inspiration that was given in trust to us by our forefathers, endures only under the protection of the few who have sworn their lives to the Democratic ideals of liberty.
A renaissance is happening before our eyes ladies and gentlemen. Let it be known that we will toe any line and haul every nail to protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights for the people that honor us with the public trust.
Thank you Stewart for your commitment.

It is not yet finished but a work in progress:
Please come home soon
You where born to be a hero for that I’m grateful. You battle for your life each and everyday, fight for your family and your country. You would think that was enough, but your strength and courage abounds. You also became as peacemaker for the world. Whomever you are there is one thing holds true to the spirit of a soldier. Without you freedom would be lost to us all. Because of you my world is safer and more secure. Because of you I am allowed to enjoy all that life has to offer. Just appreciating you and what you accomplish day in and day out isn’t enough. The tremendous amount of respect I have for you is enduring. There is no one that can fill your shoes. I know it is the simplest of things to say but I want to truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are in my thoughts always for a safe return. -Christie Lynn Salata

I’m sure Oathkeepers, of which I am one, are aware of the Restore America Plan with Sam Kennedy and 3 others stepping up to put forward a plan do restore the Constitution as the Rule of Law in America. The military is said to be standing by to back us up when we get 27 Grand Juror/Guardians of the Republics, for all 50 states. http://www.guardiansofthefreerepublics.com
A few states like Kentucky are lagging, but we have most states all set, from what I hear. How about you? You’re moving, right?
