My Oath was my first real world commitment

ArmyLogoI was first sworn in on 5DEC68 at the Federal Building in Buffalo,NY. It was my first real world commitment. I was worried at the time, because they made a young man with an artificial leg go through the whole physical. What kind of stupid am I involved with? The next day my life changed as the Army trained me for what I had sworn to do. There are several things beside cold that give me “goose-bumps.” Top of the list is Our Colors on parade. Taps, the Anthem and the Oath are the most intense. As I reenlisted in the Army Reserve, I renewed the Oath several times. I always did it in a Unit formation with the highest ranking officer available administering. It is the only time an NCO can make a General Officer do something! They always jumped at the opportunity. There are stupid, scary things happening in our country and I will not stand by and watch anymore. I have to do something and the start is joining OK.

  2. I don’t reminber when I gave my oath. I did not think it would be a life time thru. I’m old kind of guy. I believe in what american was. not what we see now on abc, nbc or cnn. I find it’s hard not to be mad. But I said what could 1 old army guy do. Well I did join a buch of old guys who love Freedom. Thank God I’d felt like Elijah, I saw that I was alone, But no more. Lets stand up let them see how many we are…
