Dear American Soldier

soldier20and20flagDear American Soldier,

It was a cold December morning in my country. I woke up and switched on the black and white television set in my parents living room and began to watch an announcement by my president dressed in a military uniform.

Blood within my heart seemed to have frozen when I heard words “Martial Law” “Special Military Courts”…the voice coming from this small box explained to me that painting a slogan on a wall of a building anti-socialist slogan will automatically mean a 3 year prison sentence.

It was Sunday and people headed in massive numbers to their Churches to pray.
As they walked they saw tanks on the streets and mixed military and police patrols checked documents at checkpoints…people would ask soldiers “what has happened – is this war”?…phones did not work newspapers did not publish…thousands of people were already arrested in the middle of the night with no information about their whereabouts.

Poland December 13 1981

Polish soldiers took an oath to defend their country against an enemy.
This time their “enemy” was their own mothers friends and children like me a 15 year old boy.

Dear American soldier
Let this never occur in your country!
God bless the Oath Keepers!
Carry their blessed words – “Not On Our Watch!”

Thank you for your insight. Poland has been the victim of despots several times. We will not allow that to happen here, and your comments make us more effective. The poles have shown more courage than most, through history.

Tom, the United States is already only a hairs-breadth away from the conditions you describe. Two days ago, our Supreme Court disregarded two hundred twenty years of U.S. jurisprudence by upholding the decision of a lower court regarding the lawsuit of four former Guantanamo “detainees” who were British residents, were imprisoned at Guantanamo without the advice of counsel, were tortured, were never tried, and were finally released. (I hate the word “detainee.” It’s a euphemism for the real word: “prisoner.”) The suit named as a defendant Donald Rumsfeld among others in the Bush administration for being responsible for the torture of the prisoners. The lower court ruled, under pressure, apparently, from the Obama administration, that their suit had no merit because the administration officials involved could not have known that the prisoners would be tortured. The Supreme Court, however, went much farther than this into the realm of illegal unconstitutionality. It ruled that those SUSPECTED of terrorist activity had no rights under the Constitution, and in fact were not to be considered “persons” at all! Further, the Court held that it was the sole prerogative of the president to determine the fate of such “enemy combatants,” even if they are American citizens! The Court also held, contrary, apparently, to the lower court ruling, that torture was a predictable result of imprisonment by the U.S. military!

Of course, this ruling is not without precedent in American history, albeit disreputable precedent. It is similar in some ways to the Dred Scott Decision of the 1850’s. In that ruling, the Court held that African-American slaves were not “persons” and therefore had no protection under the Constitution.

So with this Court decision, anyone, including American citizens, who are denounced by someone as being guilty of terrorist-related activity can be arrested, imprisoned indefinitely and secretly, without trial or right to counsel and tortured, and they have no right to any protection under the Constitution because they are not even “persons!” With this decision, America’s citizens now have the status of slaves and cattle!

With this decision, I maintain, Obama doesn’t HAVE to declare martial law! Martial law would imply that Americans were still citizens of the United States. We’re not! We are slaves and animals, without any rights whatsoever! With this decision, the entire legal basis of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and more than 220 years of U.S. legal precedent, the inalienable, God-given rights common to all human beings, rights that cannot be taken away by anyone, is GONE!

    Tom,
We are very close now to those very conditions. As you no doubt have already read DelVecchio’s post, you know we are a hair breadth away from complete serfdom…
But they messed up. They have not been able to silence us completely. If they make a move in force, they will not know how many of their “Security Forces” will turn their weapons upon them, and arrest them instead of the intended victims.

No fear from this side of the Atlantic. These criminals will all end up with a day in a honest Court of Law.

    yours,
    Randall Covey
