Ret. Peace Officer and his experience
I have been honored to serve as a professional peace officer for 43 years and while I retired from full time service some years ago still serve as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff.
I recall quite clearly the professional peace officers code of ethics to which I subscribed at the outset of my career and which I fully support today. I find it disgusting that so many so called law enforcement “leaders” today find it convenient to ignore the oath they took and to succumb to political correctness in order to advance their careers.
The Constitution of the United States alone, not any particular political leader, directs what is necessary, appropriate, and essential for the United States of America to grow and prosper. The Constitution is all about us as a nation. Tragically many political leaders today care not for the Constitution but their own “its all about me” political philosophy. Rather than insuring and protecting the rights of all they enact legislation which deprives the majority of law abiding, hard working Americans of their rights so that criminals, terrorists, and other enemies of our Republic are equal to the law abiding.
I have not yet joined Oathkeepers as I am still in the process of investigating what it really stands for and how it operates. Thus far I am impressed with what I see and unless something changes anticipate joining soon. What I do agree with is its focus on all of us who have served this country in uniform maintaining our support for the document upon which this great nation was founded and withholding our support and our obedience from any elected official who orders us to act contrary to that document.
I salute those who share the perspective espoused by Oath Keepers and I suggest that we join not only with each other but join in prayer to our Almighty God and to St. Michael the patron of those in uniform to preserve the nation which He has blessed us with.

Welcome, Jerry!
I just retired myself after 33 years. Thank you for your service and thanks for joining us. I agree that we serve the rule of law, not some “personality cult” – - that’s Stalin’s thing. Now it’s up to you and I to educate the younger cops (I called them the “romper room patrol”) about what they really signed up for and swore an oath to.
And make sure you check out your State group for local OK’ers.
