“Where is my America?” In your excellent essay, I think you answer your own question: “I believe it’s still here.” It IS! WE’RE AMERICA! You, me, and all of us. We’re the people. We’re the COUNTRY. That’s why the Preamble to the Constitution says, “WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, … DO ORDAIN AND ESTABLISH THIS CONSTITUTION FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” America isn’t a piece of territory. It’s not an empire. It’s not even a Congress, or a president, or a judiciary, or a capital city. It’s an IDEA; a faith, a THOUGHT. It’s OUR thought, and it’s the greatest, most noble, most beautiful thought any group of human beings ever had. It is, as Lincoln said, “the last, best hope of Earth,” and it’s time for us to fight for it, with everything we have, as we’ve never fought before, so that that thought shall not perish from the earth. To that end, “we pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.”

You are on the money my brother. This is not the same AMERICA I grew up in either. We need to make sure our future generations have the same rights and liberties we enjoyed in our youth. Scary what is going on these days.
