I have found the people I wanted to find

constitutionI clearly remember the day I gave my oath, the first time as well as the second time. Most notably though was when at the age of nineteen I had completed a full day at the MEPS center for in processing and physicals. Then a large group of us was ushered to a room. With the door closed and a quiet group, a service man stood on a platform and asked us all to raise our right hand. I knew then it was all about to become official!

I remember two things sticking in my mind about it. First as I was beginning the Oath I wondered if it would finish in “SO HELP ME GOD”. A lot of news had been covering the controversy over “God in our school” and “God in our government and court rooms etc”  I followed through with every word, and was wondering “What did they mean by” “ALL ENEMIES BOTH FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC”. What was a domestic enemy? I remember the goose bumps on my arms. Then to my gratification we ended with “SO HELP ME GOD”.  That meant a lot to me. It felt clearly to me that I was making a life long commitment! That was what I thought.  Still I wondered what was a “domestic enemy”?

Of course I realized what that meant later. Seemed often times when I recalled that oath, and when I took it the second time to be commissioned as an officer I always felt a chill and the goose bumps.

I REALLY UNDERSTAND NOW, I know why the chill and goose bumps. I’ve never talked about it before, never really wanted to have to admit what the phrase really really meant. It’s a sad feeling when I think about it.

But today, I heard about OATH KEEPERS. My heart has soared and yes I have had tears in my eyes several times. I have been kinda standing back waiting and looking for others like me. I even went to D.C. on 9/12 and while it felt good to be there with them, while they were people who were fed up like me, they and I had no real connections. But I know now without having met the 1st one of you. I have found the people I wanted to find. Others who remember that oath and I trust will be truly people of action and commitment to one another and our constitution “THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES”.

  1. Welcome to Oath Keepers. Like you I got the chills when I took the oath, numerous times. Even today that oath means more then when I first took it. I now understand what it all means.

  2. Welcome to Oath Keepers, friend. I think a great many of us feel the same as you. Proud to have you with us.

  3. You are, indeed, among kindred spirits here.

To all of us, that Oath isn’t just a string of words. It’s something that moves us to be part of something greater than ourselves. It moves us to protect and defend the things in life that are most important to us.

Thank you for your service and thank you for being an Oath Keeper.

  4. Brother, you have ‘connections’ now. You are back with the family. The brotherhood of the military is the most incredible feeling in the world.

Damn proud to be a part of this and glad you are too!

  7. To each and everyone of you. We are here with you! Many of us here in the US understand and will stand with you thru this turmoil. Our roots go far deeper than your ancestors. We remember when this country was truly free! Stand tall, stand proud, and know that there are more people in this country for you than against you. God Bless America and all of it’s citizens!!!!

  8. God bless each and every one of you who serve in our military; active and retired!! My heart is heavy due to the recent massacre of our finest at Fort Hood. I could be quite radical with an analysis of the shooter; but will remain subdued. My friends here know the reality and remain vigilant and committed to defending our constitution and freedom. God Bless the USA!!!

  9. Welcome Patriot!
