I Do Not Take This Oath Lightly

CoastGuardI took my first Oath in 1972, at age 18, when I first enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. I took it again when I reenlisted, and a number of times in later years as I enlisted in the Army Reserves, and then was awarded a commission. I also had the very great honor and privilege of administering the oath to numerous soldiers as they re-upped or extended their service. I have also taken a slightly different oath as a police officer in the city of Fort Worth, Texas. This oath is a bit different, but is just as significant to me as the first one I took.

I do not take this oath lightly, and just because I am now in the Retired Reserves, I am not dismissed from that obligation. It sickens me when I see what the members of Congress (both houses) and the President are doing to our country, after each of them has taken the same oath to Support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic. I feel that most of them are the greatest threat we face. They seem to have forgotten the great price that has been paid for our freedoms.

Thank you for posting this. As a former military member myself, I took my oath very seriously, and remember repeating the phrase about protecting us from terrorists both foreign and DOMESTIC. I love your list of orders we will not obey. YOU DO NOT STAND ALONE! If anyone has Facebook, please look up the group: ARISE AND AWAKEN:The time has come. We need to protect our constitution and our civil as well as human RIGHTS. The political polarization of this nation will someday come to an end, and we may have to suffer greatly before we get to that point, but we need to stand united against our domestic terrorists until that day comes. Keep up the good fight! THANK YOU.
